- The Manchester United and England player says he has been 'blown away' by local businesses offering support for his free school meals campaign after MPs voted against extending the provision into the half-term and Christmas holiday.
Marcus Rashford visited the food bank charity FareShare in Greater Manchester where a new warehouse has been named after his mother, Melanie.
Earlier this month Rashford was awarded an MBE for his work in combating child food poverty during the Covid pandemic

Imagine getting hate, for trying to make sure hungry kids are fed. Crazy world, getting worse by the minute.
@Tucker At least it's honest hate then.
British finance magazine Spear's estimates Rashford's net worth to be around £65 million ($80m)
@@britishmgtow7251 And?

I didn't realise that my hero could be so much younger than myself. We love you Rashford ♥
People say footballers should speak out but when they do they get told to stick with football
Where is the logic
Exactly, well said
What a man, shame on you government!! Marcus, you are a wonderful human being and a shining example for a generation.
Pathetic government
Can't get my head round people are criticising the lad.
One guys mentioned in the comments that he's doing it for PR. This guy dosent need any PR.
For whatsoever reason, at least he's doing something positive.
Imagine having 10- 20 of this guys, using their influences to stand against something.
Wouldn't it be nice?
Bitter rival fans, what can you do
What is he standing against?
@@kevinfurlong2058 Literally the government?
@@kevinfurlong2058 Marcus Rashford came from a poor background where his single mum had to raise a family with several children and struggled to get food on the table. He's going off personal experience and wants to help those that are in similar positions to where his family once were. So yeah... It's the government who he's up against, as the government try turn a blind eye on the issue and cut corners where possible on people's lives.
@@CheungyNSX ... she should of got the chop if she couldn’t cope
As a Leeds United fan, I have never 'liked' any Manchester United player ever. Marcus Rashford, you've changed that. Cudos to you man for standing up and speaking and using the influence and notoriety of your job as a tool to help people, you are a role model for our nation, thank you mate.
Why?

Leeds are a rival of Manchester United.
Didn’t you know that?
@@aaaabbbb2483 I know Liverpool and Man city are. I'm asking why a role model?

Great role model for young people showing much compassion and genuine interest. Trying to make a difference to underprivileged kids 👌
What? His mum couldn't feed him. 😂
He should put his money where his mouth is.
@Crypto Generation Isn’t that exactly the point, to get publicity??
@@ramsay9073 Why is that funny. There are many families that rely on Food Banks for their weekly shop. I don't think that's funny do you?. And it will get worse in the next coming months.
@Paula he did donate to charity.
I've got a lot of respect for this lad. Its great he's using his high profile to try get the government to take action and make sure kids don't go starving, makes a nice change from the usual drink driving , gambling and orgie headlines footballers usually make. He doesn't need the PR or attention, he's doing it because hes been that starving kid at school and now he's trying to do something to help, don't see why there has to be so many nobheads trying to so negative.
Stefanski, ...... it's called racial hatred.
Hes just trying to stay relevant
Marcus has proved to us that he is more than just a footballer player
Yes, he's proved he's an attention seeker.
Publicity stunt.

@The Cornfield So you're dismissing his actions because he's a professional footballer... nice...
To be fair, I couldn't care less what you have to say. You're clearly two faced and you wouldn't be happy with the lad either way.
He helps his community. "It's a PR stunt wah."

What an incredible lad
@2337 driving a nice car doesn’t mean money has gone to his head
@2337 hahah you donut
@2337 you are either delusional or jealous possibly both he has done this kind of thing many times bc he was from an underprivileged family just because he has the wealth to buy luxury items doesn’t mean everything is about money to him. Open your eyes and realise some people worked hard for wealth and help others who are in a situation he was in
@rubek bruvi what have you ever given in your life? Nothing. Stop charity shaming others when you have done nothing in your life to help others.
@rubek bruvi going out of your way to involve yourself in politics when you're already a top sports star playing for the worlds most famous football team as their number 1 striker seems a bit pointless just for PR. Dude could just focus on Football his entire life and be remembered. He doesn't need more focus on him that is why he is using his prolific celebrity status to focus the political narrative on starving children. He is there on the ground supporting these families which is more than we can say for any politician in the world
Rashford is actually my role model. I even kind of look like him. Makes me want to go out and do something.

Like City fans everywhere, i will never have much time for United, but in Marcus Rashford they have a guy who is pure gold ..... he's making a real effort in every way, and willingly giving up his time to support kids who basically have nothing, little food , and not much hope in life ..... something that this pathetic and uncaring government should really be doing ..... fair play and much respect to the guy , and to his mother too.

Rashford is on £28,000 a day, there are 559 Prem footballer's on an average of £240.000 a week. If they gave 1% of their wages a week they would raise £ 1.3 million (A week). Over £70 Million a year. When Rashford was growing up and not getting school dinners it was with a Labour Government.
PL footballers are private citizens, it's not their responsibility to do the state's job. So what if it was a labour government when he was growing up? It's currently a Tory government

It's a foolish and cold hearted error for gov to argue against obvious truths of child poverty and clear, simple solutions from those who've lived it.
Now that Labour seem to be a more united and realistic option to run the country, I'd say the Tories are on borrowed time...
