This was immensely helpful!!! I have a brand new swift and an expensive hank of hand-dyed fingering yarn. Your helpful hints also contributed to my success and I didn't have to swear once! Now I can't wait to start my next project. Thank you very much!!
Your explanation for using these two devices were excellent! I plan on buying the Swift and Winder in the next two weeks as I am beginning to buy more artisan and higher quality Yarns. I'm excited to be able to prepare my own cakes.
Just a quick tip. I like to pull my yarn from the center so I put my cakes into a yarn bowl. It works perfectly that way and if it does collapse, it just sits in the bowl and doesn't get tangled up. I love yarn cakes.
OMGOODNESS ❣️ Thank You ❣️ Since I don't use my ball winder and swift often I tend to forget all of the steps 🥴 Your tutorial is by far the best.. short & concise ❣️It has been placed in my Favorites 🥰 Thanks Again 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so very much for taking the time to do this video.👍🏻 Now I can do this without worry that I'm doing something wrong. Have a great day Cynthia!! ✌🏻 & 💜
Looks like you have a zip winder there. I have their pro version. Do you have some mounting tips? I keep having issues with the winder coming off of the table it's mounted to.
New to winding but have to since I received some hanks as gifts and will want to wind them. This was a great video and very easy to see how they work! What brand is the winder?
My experience, as I buy in both Jo-Ann and Michaels as well as Fabulous Yarn, etc is that the higher end yarn seems to come in twisted hanks. I. Want. Both. These. Items. Great info. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this. Lol. I just wanted to know what a yarn swift was and what it was for. Google was not helpful as all it told me was amazon had them on sale and I "had to have one".
isnt a skein one ball or hank or whatever you want to call it? so since it was one hank turned into one ball wouldnt that just be one skein no matter what state its in?
Richard Powell That sounds so sad! It IS kind of dark and droopy! 😆 I made this video a long time ago, with a pretty old camera. Seriously, you actually don’t want the ball to be tight. It can stretch the yarn out of shape.

I’m so happy to hear this!! Enjoy that beautiful yarn!
I just purchased one of each item, and I am so excited to use them. Thank you for the great quality video. And, by the way you have a beautiful voice.
Thank you for the easy to follow explanations AND letting me know when to lose the impatience depending on the type of knot/tie on the fiber
@@alisong826 You’re most welcome!
I can,t believe no one ever told me there was a better way to do it rather then manually. Where was I living? :-(
Welcome to the wonderful world of gadgets!
Your video helps a lot. I just bought these two tools and saved me my precious time.

Totally!

Happy to help! It’s an essential tool! (At least to me it is!)

yarn bowls work well for pulling from the outside of the cake.

Excellent tutorial, thank you
Happy to help!
It is a KSM Reeling Machine. You should easily be able to get it or order it from your local yarn store.
Thank you for posting this. I recently inherited one from my mom. Wasn’t sure exactly how and I can’t exactly ask my mom now.
I’m glad the video was helpful. It’s hard when important people are gone. 💕

Excellent comment from spiritbear12. Those things have never mattered for me, but if someone is having any trouble they are great extra tips!
Super helpful!! Thank you!
Sure!
Where can I get this Gorgs swift
Which yarn winder do you recommend for bulky yarns like Bernat Blanket?
Very clear! Thank you!! I just have one question. Can this be used to make cakes out of crochet thread also?
Thank you for an informative video.
This is great, thank you!!

This is a very cool tool to have!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. I need one of these things!

Nice work yarn
I should have gotten this swift. it seems lighter than the swift i got at knitpicks.
great video! Thank you!
Thanks - exactly what I was looking for.
I have this both products, what can I get ?
Shalini Patil a local yarn shop can help you with them.
What about skeins? Like you buy from Wal-Mart?
You can simply start knitting without winding them.
@@CynthiaSpencer Thanks.
I've never seen yarn come like that from a store (the way it was before you undid it to put it on the umbrella)
My experience, as I buy in both Jo-Ann and Michaels as well as Fabulous Yarn, etc is that the higher end yarn seems to come in twisted hanks. I. Want. Both. These. Items. Great info. Thank you!

Winder & swift I have
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks!
cool...
swift bulk yarn
hi, I was looking at the winder you were using what brand it is?
It's a brand that recently has been discontinued. But most winders work just like this, so buy one from your local yarn shop, and it will be fine.
i cant even figure out how to assemble the swift
@@sharontollin5042 most of them work literally like an umbrella. There’s nothing to assemble. Try again with feeling panic. ❤️
It will last you a lifetime!
I've found great handbook on woodprix website. Good solutions for everyone I think.
That's not a "skein", it's a "hank".
isnt a skein one ball or hank or whatever you want to call it? so since it was one hank turned into one ball wouldnt that just be one skein no matter what state its in?
Wish I can lose my impatient (captions said impatient lol)
😆
My works too. Used woodprix handbooks and build it with no problems.
Your cake is too dark and droopy.
