Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I sort of like that it is unreleased. I love this song so much and the fact that it is “unofficial” makes it feel so raw and honest, makes it even more beautiful.
I love this song. The emotion is so raw. It makes me think that even though someone (I think Louis) may not be present, he is "home" because he is in Harry's heart.
The way that the last "you're already home" in the first chorus sounds like someone trying to comfort themselves with that knowledge and then the same line in the second chorus sounds more desperate but then uses it the same again, as comfort, only for the last chorus to release all of that repressed emotion and really emphasize how unfair the situation feels with that VERY SAME LINE. 👏😭
No matter who it was written with in mind it is a beautiful song, one of those which ends before you'd wish it to. It also shows what an accomplished songwriter he was at a relatively young age & gave us a glimpse into what would be to come, an accolade winning musician & singer.

What did 1D have against 'Home songs? 'Home' that Lou wrote only got released digitally now this. I can hear the 1D guys singing it when I hear the chorus background. I can understand how Harry must've been even if he thinks they weren't 'up to par' for him. He had no intention of going back but I think in about 5-10 years time they will drop a few songs after singing for a chatity event & do it anyway.
