Honestly after 11 bags from Hermès, recently I found it refreshing to shop at Chanel and even at LV. They gave me the BEST service and being able to choose from many bags is just awesome! Last week I bought the Chanel 22 in small and I absolutely love it. I’m actually traveling with it right now, and I feel I waited too long to get it. I could choose between the mini and the small but I have so many mini bags that I passed on the mini 22.
Thanks for sharing - yes so many ppl say the small and medium are so good - just wonder if the chain straps get heavy ? 🤔. And yes it’s so refreshing to get away from a “tense “ shopping atmosphere it’s so much more relaxed at Chanel esp in Japan.
Beautiful bag, use it in good health, darling. I absolutely agree with you, we have to spend many thousands of dollars at Hermes in order to get a bag. And by the time we get it, we don't enjoy it as much. You don't feel the luxury shopping experience there. And as I am getting older, I feel we need to add fun fashion to add spice to our style, and I think you can do that with Chanel and LV. For the last few years I was just focused on Hermes and now I look like some grandma when I dress up. Happy New Year darling, I hope all your dreams come true in the new year.❤

Let's see how long I can get along with this bag...I think it's more of a trend bag but who knows hahaha. I still have a few more items from H that are non quota bags. I get so much more use out of the non QB!! I love your collection and hearing about your journey too!
Chanel in Japan has always been very friendly to me whenever I have been to any of their stores! I do resonate with you regarding Chanel prices atm and I haven’t bought anything from them since 2020, esp when their quality is not matching up to their prices. I think Hermes bag are definitely way better made, but unfortunately due to the notorious pre spend game I’m not in a position to go down that hole😂😂😂
Hermes experiences in couple of European cities in 2023 have left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Hermes. To make a long story short, in one store, an Hermes SA outright lied to me about bag availability, and I called him out on it. Then, I was offered a bag which plummets in price the moment you walk out of the store in the ugliest color. "The display only" in Hermes stores are also ridiculous - and they're not even quota bags. I felt like "why should I beg for a ridiculously expensive bag?" If a customer has the money to buy the bag, and they have the bag in the store, they should just be honest and sell it to the customer. It's called profiling - and I'm sure it's highly profiled upon in many countries. I have not been impressed with Chanel bag quality either - a lot of them look fake even though they're real. i love the chanel 22 mini on you babe! congrats! i think it’s a super purchase 🎉 and it was so fun hanging out with you in Ginza - we must go shopping again together la, this time there was just nothing to buy 😅 and yes, i’m tired of every H shopping trip become more like a museum tour 🤣🫣 it’s quite meh. and i agree with you that the service in many H stores is not very welcoming even though it’s clear we are legit loyal H fans. I’m allocating some budget to non H shopping next year and eventually i want to graduate from this ditch too 🤣 there is so much more to explore at chanel, celine, loewe who will actually sell you a bag on the spot.

Dear Clara, thank you very much, that was really very interesting and absolutely corresponds to my experience. I can only buy from Hermes in my home boutique. There's no point in trying anywhere else. At Chanel, they take everything out of the cabinets when they realize that I'm a crazy handbag lady - no matter where I've been and without pressure to buy. And I haven't bought anything for a long time, I just like to admire it from afar sometimes. 🤗

Congrats! Chanel 22 is definitely growing on me but I prefer the small/medium size and in lighter shades color like beige or white. However now I’m waiting for my QB so trying to hold on to other houses first.
We all have somewhat “better luck”, “works better” or even “meant to be” store, don’t we? In your case it sounds like it is the local Hermes store. I have much better luck finding what I want at my local Chanel boutique, granted it is in Nordstrom, than a local or any away Hermes stores. I have a fantastic Chanel SA and the entire Chanel team provides me fabulous customer service. Outside of US I’ve recently visited Singapore, Ireland and England Chanel stores/boutique. they were all very helpful and I had joyful experiences there. I was also able to get hands on some harder to find items too. Over all I am happier with Chanel where I am, rather than tiptoeing at a Hermes stores pursing the journey which ended up ruining my previous bday that I and my husband never forget to this day. I did get a B30 a few years ago but not worth dipping into any further imo.
Seems like Hermes really wants you to buy bags from your home boutique. I’ve gotten the same impression when I travel abroad. But luckily, I switched to a newly opened boutique with a new S.A. and she has been great. I asked for a mini lindy and within a week, she offered me one. Unfortunately not in a color I like. So I told her I would wait.
I’ve been buying chanel bags the last 20yrs and 2 bags were really giving me issues . One bag classic double flap in medium weight pinkish purple hue w iridescent finish started having dark spots !! another lambskin blue lambskin seasonal bowling bag started shedding color and the leather strap broke after 5 wears 😢
Yes I totally believe you! I believe the iridescent finishes are quite harsh on the leathers and I've also had dark spots appear on my iridescent items so I no longer own any of them. As soon as I saw even a tiny spot I got rid of them as I know I cannot keep them pristine even "sitting on a shelf." I also had a burgundy lambskin bag and also the color was also shedding color - unfortunately Chanel don't touch up or repaint their bags like Hermes and so I also sold that bag at a discount. I did lose a bit but not too much as I had the bag for over a decade and all the price increases basically allowed me to have a lower loss. But yes indeed, Chanel bags to me and based on my experience are really just more fun bags and ever since those experiences I ONLY buy black bags at Chanel as I know I cannot repair any other color. For such an expensive item I expect them to last longer and totally feel your grief and experienced the same! I wish CHanel would produce higher quality like they did in the 90s. I have older wallets I have trashed and still look pretty good. Such as shame the quality has gone down and the prices are now so extortionate. I don't know how long I'll keep this bag for but for sure I'm not going to be buying a lot of Chanel. I will just keep and enjoy what I have (mostly black Chanel bags - I do have one patent red one). The rest I sold...

Japan H from own experience is not that friendly. Also heard that really hard to get a bag there. Also agree Chanel Japan had super friendly SA.
