I took the missus over just after boxing day, a little hazy with bushfire smoke but we walked into Tali Karng and had the place to ourselves. As you said the views from the top are amazing🤯. Shame that the drive up to the Sentinels lookout from the back of the hut is closed but it can still be walked and worth the effort.

I went there just before the fires went through a couple of years ago, have since been back again and the difference in vegitation atop Mt Wellington was huge, but thankfully the hut didnt burn due to lucky wind and great work by DELWP/FFMV. Did you continue on to Gable End?

G'day tim, Great video.. that was the first ever track I did in my cruiser, as you mentioned its perfect for newcomers to 4wding but like most tracks I wouldn't suggest it after heavy rain. Good job mate👍🏻

Hi Tim, great video again - keep up the great work! Looking forward to getting back up there later in the year. If you keep going on the Mount Wellington track, rather than turn off to Millers Hut (dont know if you can drive this) you get to The Sentinnels and Gable End. Walked there when I was at school (and then down the Razorback to Mt Hump in the Avon WP). I remember the views from Gables End as spectacular - right across the whole of Gippsland to the sea...worth getting out of the car and on foot to take a look!

G'day mate, No permits required to camp in any of the HC huts. Just respect that others may need to use them. Most of the huts have dirt floors. So take your normal camping set up. Hope that helps mate. Cheers Tim.

The drive up to the Mt Wellington summit and onto Millers Hut, i found a pretty easy drive. That day was dry when i went. So, it's your call on if you would take your camper through to Millers Hut. Miller's hut is a bit damp and moldy in the wet. I would camp in a tent and sleep on a trekking mat and use a sleeping bag.

We are aloud back out in the bush on day trips only.
I filmed this trip only last week, straight after restrictions were lifted to day runs only.
Camping is looking like coming back on the 1st June.
Maybe you can head back don some day.

Thats why i mentioned in the video, it would be a good drive for someone starting out.

Nice video Tim. What time of year was this? Last time I was in there I also did a hike into and out of Tarli Karng back in my scouting days in the early 80's

I filmed this only last week. It was a top day, great weather.
I also hiked into Lake Tarli Karng during my scouting days way back in the late 70's.
We cam out through Millers Hut. Just wish i had photos from back in those days.

Hi Tim, seeking your opinion, trip plan up via Licola, Millers Hut, Mt Wellington then down to Horseyard Flat. Could you do towing a Patriot Camper, tug Hilux Rugged X fitted with good AT’s. Watching your video and some research, my guess is yes?

Not sure what your off road experience is with towing.
Licola to Horse Yard no worries at all with a camper on the back.
The drive up to the Mt Wellington summit and onto Millers Hut, i found a pretty easy drive.
That day was dry when i went.
So, it's your call on if you would take your camper through to Millers Hut.

Will never call my self experienced as there is always something to learn, although I have towed campers all over this great country of owes. Mount Wellington in the Victorian High Country.
