In 1977 I saw Sham 69 at Gatsbys New Wave Club (later to become Torquay EF School). The support was a band fronted by Kirk Brandon called The Cane. Jimmy sprayed the croud of about 30/40 punks with a hose at the end of the gig. I was 16, and in a punk band called Critical Press at the time. Happy days.
"I Don't Wanna" war neben Songs wie "London Girls" Vibrators, "New Rose" Damned und "Sick of You" Users auf meiner ersten Punk-Rock-Cassette 1977 drauf.
I’m close to 50, started listening to punk in ‘86, started my first punk band in 1988 at 14, opened for Fugazi in ‘91, at 17, then played in at least 3 other punk rock influenced hard rock bands through the 1990’s, up an down the East Coast of the U.S., and I’m working with “GarageBand” and I’m still trying to get a new act together!!! Punk is something one is born with. First of all, I never thought I’d see 30, let alone 50, There are punk bands that I don’t like, and I certainly don’t dress up the way I did, but the thoughts are always there. I was born to question authority, and destroy those who spread the lies. I like all sorts of music, and most of it is in the genre of rock between the years of 1955-2005, but punk rock is the ultimate form of rock rebellion. It’s an addiction. (One of the healthiest ones I’ve had!)
Cale was just a bit too late producing the first tier Brit Punk bands due to being in USA but he did do this and Squeeze first LP...he knew quite well the boxy tight sound of Punk
@@PunkRIP no, those lyrics are correct I was just trying to be funny. when I heard this song when I was 5 years old that's what I thought he was saying..

This almost has a grunge sound.
Well, without Cale Punk wouldn't sound the same as we know it. Such an influential character, yet still so underrated.
Luv
Back then I used to think of this as the ultimate song of laziness.
Punk turns his back on art school and looks out onto the streets.
0:16 "I don't want no dumb old shoes"
thought it was i dont want no dole queue. dumb old shoes is better though.
