Do see plenty of little egrets around southern waters. Something to note is the seeing of large egrets which drew many twitchers to a coast path near Weymouth a few years back.

I have only discovered this bird in the last 6 months and in the most random of places. There is a section of the river lark that passes through the middle of my local Tesco car park in Suffolk. The egret doesn’t seem phased by the busy traffic. It’s quite common to see it wading for food but there only ever seems to be the one lone bird. Very lovely to watch 😊

In the Netherlands where I live, little egrets are more rare than Large Egrets. Altought older people tell me that the large was very rare till 20 years ago. Now it's a common sight. Love those birds, very beautiful.

Another lovely informative video. I saw my first little egret on Elmley marshes in June 1985. it was quite a few years before I saw the next one. Now, on the Essex coast it is a poor days birding if you don't see one at least.

I saw my first much later than that, in Cambridge around 2012. It was when I was beginning to take a serious interest in other things apart from fish and amphibians (which is where my passion for wildlife started). When I first saw it I had no idea what it was but after that first time, I saw it almost daily. Cheers

I live in the Lake district but also part of Morecambe Bay (Ulverston) we have a ever growing number of little egrets that have made our little town their home, the tide comes in twice a day and when at low tide the are always seen along the shore feeding.

How miraculous, their recovery! A curse upon those who hunt for pleasure. I have only seen the lone intermediate egret who comes to the creek in front of my bedroom window in Sydney. I have seen any number of cattle egrets in the roadside parks and near water bodies in south India. I have never seen a little egret or a great white, except at a wildlife sanctuary called Bharatpur in north India, where I stayed overnight and also saw a red fox at dusk, wandering among the rose plants.
