    This was Norris's last fight at the age of only 31 years old ! He retired due to pugilistic dementia and Parkinson's disease caused by his boxing career. This affects his speech and coordination. He was so athletic, turned down a mlb baseball career. imho he fought too many fights too young and in such a short time span and also too long in the amateurs with almost 300 fights and only 4 loses It is sad because he was the best in his era as light middleweight and he peaked in his mid 20's ! He beat or KO'd the best in his prime including Jorge Vaca, KO'd John Mugabi for the WBC light-middleweight title. and thus starting what would be the first of three reigns as champion. UD win over Sugar Ray Leonard 1991. Norris scored two knockdowns against Leonard . His next defense, a June victory over another former undisputed welterweight champion - Donald Curry - further cemented Norris' place in the history of the 154-lb division as Norris wore down his foe and knocked him out in the eighth. Other prominent foes in that first reign included the tough future middleweight titlist Jorge Castro, and two reigning welterweight champions; WBA title-holder Meldrick Taylor, and IBF title-holder Maurice Blocker. Norris is described as displaying a stunning combination of hand and foot speed as well as the ability to throw dizzying combos, Norris' athletic ability was an uncanny attribute in the ring.

    That was sad to watch. At this point in his career, Terry Norris had no business anywhere near a boxing ring. CTE utterly destroyed his coordination and reflexes, so he was defenseless in this fight.

    After the Mullings bashing, Norris should never have been cleared to fight again. The kind of bombs he was taking here was just a sad thing to see. Could not even put his hands up to defend himself. Good corner stoppage.

    What's so striking here is that Norris doesn't resemble at all the fighter he once was...I don't mean in terms of hand and foot speed...I mean he has been reduced to a style that's unrecognizable. Terri was very distinctive in his ring movement and generalship. This version looks nothing like the fighter he was 5 years before. So sad.

      Much better for Norris because after this fight he suffered brain damage.

    • @bigstacks1463
      @bigstacks1463 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@multisport9541 Actually, the brain damage had already occurred. In an interview, Norris said that he started 'feeling funny' after his first fight with Simon Brown in 1993. Plus, if you watch his interview with Dr. Ferdie Pacheco after defeating Nick Rupa in 1996 (available on RUclips), then you'll hear Norris slurring his words then. I think he fell off the cliff cognitively during the Keith Mullings fight in 1997. Norris started out well in the fight, but during the 2nd round, he took a right hand from Mullings and started blinking his eyes repeatedly for the rest of the fight. Even the commentators noted how oddly Norris was blinking his eyes. I think his eye blinking was an indication that his brain damage had progressed to an alarming degree. In my opinion, Norris should have retired after the loss to Mullings.

      You are so wrong look at Boudouani's record, silver medalist at the Olympics an amateur record of 92 fights 90 wins 2 losses (1 in the final of the Olympics of course) 66 KO's !
      He KO'd a prime Castillejo, Oscar DLH and Fernando Vargas couldn't do it ! He's the most skilful fighter France ever had but wasn't properly managed and trained in my opinion, with an US trainer, team and promoter he would've been one of the best fighters out of Europe (which I actually consider him to be ). Look at Boudouani's KO ratio and take in consideration that Norris's chin wasn't the greatest, Boudouani could've cracked him in his prime too..
