I hardly doubt Pereira's overlooking Roundtree. I think it's the UFC fans in general who are overlooking Roundtree. Rightfully so, since he's ranked 8th in his division & 3 out of the 7 people above him have already fought & lost to Pereira, 2 of whom lost via KO. There's very little reason to believe Roundtree will be the one to beat Pereira. He could but it's unlikely that he will

@@GWFHegel-ms7gz One thing doesn't exclude the other. I agree 1000000% when the topic is "Khalil is NOT deserving of a title shot". Sure. But that is not the topic here. It is if Alex is overlooking him, which is completely dumb, because the man himself says he doesn't overlook opponents. Why go to SLC weeks before then? Why bring Strickland, then? Why move most of Glover's team to SLC, if that is so easy? See how this topic and discussion is so dumb? It's like these guys know what goes through Alex's head more than the man himself, as Alex's actions shows he is not overlooking Khalil. Period.
And also, the fact that Khalil doesn't deserve this fight, it doesn't necessarily means he is a trash fighter, or a club fighter. There are better fighters, with better resumes than his? Sure. But that doesn't make him garbage, as most casuals (hate saying that, but it's the truth) and MMA youtubers are saying.

I love Rountree, he's an amazing person and the best person to be gifted a title shot. Rountree's resume is not as impressive as you think it is, 2 wins over guys who got cut after, a very obvious robbery win against Jacoby, a win over someone who was on a knockout losing streak going down a weight class, and then a short notice win against Smith who just lost to a middleweight on short notice. Rountree's power has been proven and he will always have a puncher's chance, but I think it's rightful overlooking on Pereira's part, and I don't think it's enough for Pereira to allow himself to get caught. I think this is a huge mismatch, but with every fighter with power, they have a puncher's chance. Pereira is going to look for those flying knees.

That's his biggest issue, his lack of length/height. Alex is five inches taller than the guy, and it's that length that allowed a bum like Smith to hang with him for a couple rounds. Listening to people talk about jones partying before fights is hilarious… he would go out for a night or two a week before his fight, then spend a week detoxing and dropping weight. It doesn’t matter that he let loose for a couple days, what matters is the intense training and easy recovery he had for months leading up to the fight… steroids allowed him to train longer, harder, and more often. Having all the stress from training is tough and I would imagine letting loose for a couple days allowed him to recharge, while his opponents kept tense. It wasn’t a detriment, it was a benefit

Alex does seem to understand he’s aging and is trying to maximize his time and earnings potential. As someone focused on that, given his strategic moves to the ufc and career, I’m fairly confident he’s keen to end this fight as soon as possible to stay prepared for a quick turnaround. If anything, he might be hyper focused on roundtree. He’s not a normal champion. He came here very very late. He’s not even had time to be complacent. And bc of that his motivation to earn big now is different than a relatively young champion in their prime getting complacent and overlooking. This reminds me a lot of Foreman’s return to the belt. He used to talk about how it’s impossible to overlook the guys on his road to that second belt. A loss would be catastrophic to the entire process. Whereas he 100% overlooked Ali. His career is 2 sides of that coin and Alex is on the latter side.
I just can’t unsee Walker hitting roundtree with probably the single greatest Thai elbow in the octagon. Everything he was doing that Johnny capitalized on, Alex is just as good if not better and I haven’t seen him improve to my own eye but that’s all just my opinion. It was a long time ago but he’s also not had a bigger test. He hasn’t been fighting better opposition than Walker years ago. So how can we say he improved? He just might have . And I hope so. Bc if not, Alex dog walks him and if I’m honest I’m still not sold on Alex as he only gets fed strikers. But this one will likely be quick work.

How the hell is Poatan “chinny” ? Everybody just reverberates what everyone else says because he got caught with the right shot by Izzy after 4 fights against the 2nd best MW in UFC history. Poatan has 1 out cold KO and 2 standing TKO’s in 45 fights against some of the most elite strikers on the planet. Jan never wobbled him, Hill caught him once and he walked through it and Jiri in 1st fight did land a few times but he didn’t wobble him or even come close to dropping him and all 3 hit just as hard or harder than Khalil. This is not 45 lb weight drained MW Poatan, this is Poatan in his correct division after 4 fights in the division. Nothing Chinny about the guy, his 1st defensive move is backing up because of his dimensions and everyone thinks he’s chinny with NO proof.💯

Why would have to pick and choose fights? The UFC does that for him by giving him choice match-ups since day 1.

After watching all Izzy v ereira fights it looked to me like Izzy was winning all of them... First was a bit of a tossup but I thought Izzy won. Second Izzy was winning until he wasnt. Third was the same. And well, fourth he did win.
Pereira got that clean precision KO power though, which is something that wins him fights even when he's being mostly outstruck... and he is savvy enough to set it up. Out of the two of them I think Izzy is technically better, but that power levels it out which makes them fighting a coin toss. Not that it's them two coming up.
Been a "fan" of Khalil since he was on TUF. I am rooting for the guy and actually think he can win. He got that KO power as well and knows where to put it. Pereira is probably the better striker, but not in any way leagues ahead. Can Khalil rise to the occassion? We'll see.

Khalil Likes low kicks, Khalil drops his left hand when hammering low kicks (Like REALLY LOW). Easy right hook for Pereira.

I don't think Alex is overlooking anybody. I think he entered the UFC at the right time and he's being fed very fun but ultimately "easy" match ups. When Izzy took Alex down and kept him down he exposed how fcking trash the LHW division is in terms of mma 😅
I still love watching it tho. Lower level mma often makes it more chaotic and fun for us fans.

"This is ripe for that kind of situation." About gsp and serra. I couldn't disagree more. Alex is far further in his career in combat sports, I'm sure he did make that mistake at some point in his career. I would honestly say he did in the second Izzy fight in a sense. If anything that is probably still fresh in his memory to remind him to be patient...just like he was against Jiri...

Khalil is not beating Alex. I know mma math doesnt add up anything can happen but he is not winning. Khalil went 3 rounds with past his expiration date Anthony Smith. Khalil is good at countering leg kicks with straight punches but Alex won't get caught like that.
We are all building up this hype for nothing. My opinion of course.

This comment will likely never be seen, but in the off chance @MMA On Point sees this, I just watched a very interesting video about applying a definitive ELO scoring system (similar to chess) to the UFC all-time records roster to find a data-based GOAT scoring, with highest-peak scores as well to see their score in each fighter's prime. There's two videos, this one is a follow-up with adjustments and add-ons, and I find it very interesting.
