Very funny storytelling here from Sam Shepard. The sad thing is: I watched him yesterday in BLOODLINE in the part where his character dies. Today it turns out that he really has died ...
I will always think of him as Chuck Yeager in the movie “The Right Stuff”. Sam Shepard was never a Hollywood star type,he was a playwright first,an actor second. Rip Sam,hope you and Chuck are enjoying each other’s company.✌️
How did they get permission to cut up a saguaro cactus? Its illegal to do anything to them in AZ. They dont start to grow arms until they are 80yo. Money I guess.
CaliGirl1952: The cactus he describes-looking like "big, green men, with arms like this"-sounds like saguaro. Probably the cactus police weren't on set that day, and the crew just did what they wanted. Or maybe they got a dispensation.
They don’t make em’ like Sam anymore. He was one of the great American storytellers because he cut right through the bullshit to the real thing. Always hoping there’s more work out there yet to be published.
This is priceless. What a legend of Americana we lost to early. RIP Sam!
A totally charming man besides being incredibly talented...the world is a richer place for him having been here & poorer for the loss of him. RIP Sam.
RIP Mr. Sam ...raw honesty..talented man

Great story. He was the real deal. Loved his plays, short stories, and honest portrayals as an Actor.
I remember watching the Right Stuff at cinema. I was a young boy. What a lovely actor. I was sad that he didn't win the Oscar. RIP Sir.
Happy birthday, Sam Shepard, 71 today, sending love and admiration
RIP, Sam Shepard. Devastating loss, this.

I believe they were Joshua Trees, not saguaro cactus.

this man... oh my.. ahah
I just watched the movie THE RIGHT STUFF. Turns out Sam is wrong: It's definitely not a Saguaro cactus he rides into ...
What kind of cactus was it?
They were actually Joshua Trees, not Saguaro cacti.
may have changed during editing.
he was badassssss.
wow this intro boy got a native indian nose lol
He could smoke a cigarette in the rain with his hands tied behind his back. That nose is like a natural canopy.
@@Luschan You can't make that stuff up!
