@@jenmurphy5133 It's hard to find good techno these days. There are still several decent players. However, the BPM has been lowered massively and even legendary techno DJ's such as Carl Cox are normally playing to crowds to suit an agenda and often an audience in which many are not devoted 'tech heads' like back in the day. I know many DJ's who cannot play the kind of style and speed in which they'd like to, as they have to stick to what the promoters of the night/event tell them to stick to, as it's their job and income at the end of the day. The best way to hear them in their true form is when you privately hire them so they don't have to play to the prescribed sound which passes for today.

this techno is still around but most techno producers have lowered the bpm a tad and djs follow step. why: because real techno like this, although amazing, its loyal fans are a minority. it is too speedy for the majority of party people who are loyal to the various house subgenres which consistently vibe well in big city clubs worldwide. thats why cox, richie hawtin, g velvet etc all play tech house and minimal techno. a Hardcore techno fan can handle or enjoy a tech house or progressive long set but not the other way around.. theyd have a panic attack.
