I love that fact that thai people are in love with their glutinous rice and when I was in Thailand, I was awe struck by the glutinuous rice and durian combination. I looked up this recipe after having the same dessert at a thai vegetarian restraurant here in KL. Thank you for sharing. :) It's completely vegan too, yea. no milk. just good ol' coconut.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, Thai people love their glutinous rice. In general most people in SE Asia eat a lot of the rice too. We like to make dessert, snacks, pastries (Kuih) and for savoury dishes too.
Excellent! thank you....I am from Perú...I´ll try to find panda leaves...but I know that this dessert is very delicious because long time ago I taste in California.
I love this!!! I wanted to learn how to make this myself because since I love to eat it so much it can get really expensive at the restaurant! 😋 yummy!!
Amazing dear. U should make a video how to make lemper. Its a malaysian sticky rice with chiken coconut filling. I made ur sayur lode. Omg better than a restaurant. Thx dear. U are amazing
No, only 1 batch of coconut cream, for topping/drizzle. For the rice, just use coconut milk without corn starch. Do check the description box for detailed recipe. Thanks.
Flavours Of Asia Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I plan on making this for a 4th of July Asian-themed BBQ. I picked up everything I need at the market on my lunch break.
Go to a local made cheese place, ask them if they have some straining cloth. Tell them what you are making with it, and promise you'll bring them a plate in exchange. Make friends. Bye

Do you have to steam the rice like that? Or can you just make it like traditional white rice in boiling water?
kelly oh Yes, you have to steam the sticky rice this way.
Where do you buy the pandan leaf??
Quick question! Do you make two batches of coconut cream? One for the rice and then one to drizzle over at the end?
No, only 1 batch of coconut cream, for topping/drizzle. For the rice, just use coconut milk without corn starch. Do check the description box for detailed recipe. Thanks.

hi here .
1) if I do not have glutinous rice can I use normal rice grain ?
2) other than sea salt can I use normal salt ?
I'm afraid you need glutinous rice for this recipe, no subs. Yes, you can use normal salt, adjust accordingly.
Normal rice is for savory dishes.
It won't be a dessert.
What do the panda leaves do? Flavor? Where can I buy that type of rice and panda leaves?
Yes, fragrance. Try Asian supermarket.
Thank you so much 😊
You're most welcome.
