    Love this channel, just came to an agreement on a 1991 300zx twin turbo with 52k miles, garage kept, no leaks, in absolute mint condition, completely stock except for new exhaust with clean car fax. It does however need the 120k service by age and that was factored into the price when I negotiated. Certainly paid a premium at 24k but was listed originally at 34.5k. This was my favorite car in high school and plan on keeping a long time and putting money into it. I wanted as clean a base as possible. Can't wait to get it in my possesion

    So impressed with the knowledge you have behind this car. I never really comment on RUclips videos but I have to say this was so helpful. As soon as we settle on a house Il be buying a new toy was considering the new z but this is nostalgic for the 90s and I’ve always been intrigued by them. Il most likely grab a clean example with lower miles and send it down to z1 and have them go through it and let them put together a 400whp car that is reliable and true I don’t mind spending money to make something perfect. Thanks so much.

    Turbo/Non-Turbo origin can be confirmed easily by checking the 4th character of the VIN. "C" for Turbo and "R" for Non-Turbo.

    Great vid. Thanks. Also a big fan of Smeedia. I have an 05 sti that has been built and modified. Great car and fun to drive. Thinking of getting a z32 as I have always loved those cars. How is the driving experience of the Z compared to the sti ?

    • @danmeyers8881

      Thanks for the view. Honestly the STI is awesome and pretty raw… but it doesn’t compare. Just my opinion but the z (done right) is a whole different animal.

    '96 lost the VVT and 20 hp. Pre-'95 injectors will fail eventually from the ethanol in today's gas. The timing belt should be replaced 60k miles OR 5 years regardless of mileage.

      The '96 TT lost NVCS, but was still rated at 300hp with the 5-speed; 280hp with the auto. The "20 hp loss" is internet myth.
      It still went up against the Supra (ugly and over-hyped), RX-7 (beautiful, but delicate), and 3000GT/Stealth (infamous for their weak crankshafts and bloated weight).

    • @andrewmcintosh9832
      @andrewmcintosh9832 Год назад

      @@myfakeguuglaccount8307 Lol! Weak crankshafts is an internet myth. The 93-99 cranks were forged. Car manufacturers could advertise their cars with more or less HP than they actually are. How do you think it didn't lose HP without the VVT with no other changes made to the car!?

    • @myfakeguuglaccount8307
      @myfakeguuglaccount8307 Год назад

      @@andrewmcintosh9832 I stand corrected: the 91 and 92 3kGT/Stealth crankshafts were junk.
      As for the Z, you're simply regurgitating the myth based on some sort of "parts" logic (which is precisely how it got started in the late 90s), and demonstrating some ignorance of how NVCS worked. You obviously are unaware that the 96 models used camshafts with profiles not used in previous models, or that the turbos differed between auto and 5-speed versions. You pulled "20 hp" out of your tail pipe.
      No matter. No reputable Z32 historian will mention the "loss of horsepower in 96" as anything other than a rumor or belief. There is nothing to corroborate it from Nissan. No one has ever produced an engine dyno to corroborate it. Nobody ever will. It is literally based on a dude doing a microfiche parts comparison and "surmising" what he did. When I called him out on it 20 years ago, he said "Well, I guess I could be wrong!" 😂

      @@myfakeguuglaccount8307 What is the profile of the 96 cams? How could they put a more aggressive cam and pass emissions? The low-mid range torque is going to be less without VVT.
