$67 in parts needed to build this fire pit. I started by stripping/sanding the paint off the Ammo can and lid. The paint is not a high heat paint and eventually will flake off. You will need to use a high heat paint of your choice. Ammo can is from ‪@harborfreight‬ propane burner and stainless mesh are from amazon. Rivets or bolts can be used to hold the stainless mesh to the can. I also picked up some lava rock from Home Depot. I used 1.5" hole saw for the holes on my ammo can. You could get fancy and use ceramic logs in this as well.
Tools needed: Drill, Various drill bits, side cutters, hole saw, rivet gun, marker, tape measurer.

So in your honest opinion in comparison to the 300$ on sold at Moore how would rate this DIY

I’ve never used another, but heat is heat, and I like building stuff. At less than 1/3 the price I don’t see how you can go wrong.

Citristrip! Worked great. Apply thick and leave in a bag for around 36 hours.

I used a flapper disc on an angle grinder. It took about 10 minutes to strip the majority off.

Is the fire evenly distributed? Looks like the burner is not centered. Thanks

The box is a 11” long, the center of the burner is 4.5” from the far side of the connection for the propane hose. Heater works great. You’re not going to have 20 people around it, it’s meant for 1-3 people max.
