Dang Mike, I had downloaded, made User, Pass on sites, pressured to buy. Got burned out finding free info to do this. I went with Smaller and thought I would look at it. It was fine. So, you and your video took 147 jpegs, 449MB and reduced to 3.7MB. Yahoo would allow 25MB max. If I went with Medium, I would have to send 2 emails so the Smaller worked fine on what I had to send. The boss and I are grateful for your time and info of how to pull this off. Thanks!
Absolutely amazing. THANK YOU! I just wish I would have seen your video before purchasing compression software that ended up being a bit difficult to figure out and in the end didn't compress my 4k images much.
Thanks immensely for this video. It's a pity I hadn't come across it sooner, I could have saved myself a whole lot of grief. And you're so COOL in explaining how to perform this task. I've subscribed and look forward to your other videos.
OMG.. I HAD 12640 PHOTOS AND YOU WERE ALL I NEEDED. GOOD LORD,I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH. I LOVED IT AND I DID SUBSCRIBE. I HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE AND COMPANIES I WILL MOST DEFINITELY REFER THEM TO YOU. AGAIN,THANK YOU SO MUCH. GRATEFUL ISN'T EXACTLY WHAT I'M FEELING. 😘💞🙏
This was much easier than expected. I can't thank you enough. I'm a Windows 10 user and this worked perfectly for me.. I could go on and on with kudo's, having struggled withe the limitations oflarge files and email.
I your instructions seemed so simple. I wrote down what you said. It seemed simple enough then Bam!! I got an error message; something about having to make Outlook my default email. Nope, I don’t want to do that. I’m so sad but thanks for explaining such an easy method.
I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. I have encountered a few situations where for some reason this doesn’t work. Fortunately, for most people, it has worked well.
On my new laptop, I did have to create an outlook account in order for this to work. It is not my default, and I never use Outlook except when I am compressing photos.
Thank you so much for this brilliant solution! I'd been searching for a free webtool to do this but they all want you to purchase something after a limited amount of files compressed!
Using Windows 11, I followed your instructions exactly as described. However, after selecting picture size (small) and "attaching" and giving the process sufficient time to create the small compressed photos, my screen drops the entire compression process and reverts back to seeing my desktop without clicking on anything. Thus, I'm unable to see any compressed photos (like you show in the tutorial). There's no down arrow to select adjacent to photos because there are no photos to move to the desired 'empty' folder for emailing. Any suggestions how to resolve this problem? Thanks - I think your tutorial is WELL DONE. -Rob
On my new computer, I learned that I had to have Outlook installed for this process to work. I never use Outlook, but I installed it, set it up, and forgot about it. Once I did that, this process started working for me again. You might want to try that.
somehow my computer has lost the ability to resize photos automatically. For example, I can select some photos, then right click on any one of them, then choose "Send To". As soon as i do this a screen used to open that was titled "Attach Files", then the window allowed me to choose a size ...1024 X 768, 640 X 480 and so on. I have lost that window that allows me to resize the photos. How can i get that back?
I’m sorry for the delayed response, but this process will not work for videos. I’m sure there is software out there that can compress videos, but I don’t have that information.
It says " There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." What should i do now ?
I am sorry for the delayed response, but you may have to have Microsoft outlook installed on your computer. That’s what opens up on my computer when I use this procedure. I do not use Microsoft outlook as my email program, but it came installed on my laptop so that’s what opens up.
By the nature of compression, quality will suffer to a degree when photos are compressed, but most compression software does a pretty good job of minimizing how much the quality will decrease. The more you compress it, the more detail will be lost.
I believe this method is not considered “lossless“ compression. This means that they cannot be restored to their original quality if compressed in this method. There are some methods that are considered “lossless”, and if the photos are compressed in that manner, then they can be restored to higher quality later.
Had it going up to step for email application 2:16 so won't work for me as I refuse to use ms edge for email, I use aol and gmail. I will try a zipped folder. Thx
Other people have solved this simply by downloading outlook to their computer. They have not had to actually use outlook for email, but just have to have it on the computer for this procedure to work.
For me, it opens up the Microsoft outlook program. I do not use Outlook, but I guess it comes installed on Windows computers, so it opens that up automatically as part of this process.
@@morganinspectionservices3840 for some odd reason it wont work for me, like at first it gave me an error that I needed to add a default mail app to open the files into, I thought I was able to fix that but it still doesn't work. I do the same steps and it shows a loading for a quick second, I wait to see if the mail app opens to continue with the process and it never opens, it just does nothing and it wont work. If by any chance you think you could help me out with this issue?? Thanks man!
I’m sorry. This is the only method I am aware of, and you, the user, really have little control over the actual compression size other than going with small, medium or large.
You betcha! I asked chatGPT how to do it and it said there was no built-in Windows method to do it however you could add some sort of third-party application, so I wasn't going to do that. Your method probably saved me 1 - 2 hours of time and frustration. So thanks for all of us for your tip!
Hello. Some people have had to download Outlook onto their PC to get this procedure to work. About 95% of the time, it works without that, but not every time for some reason. If you do have to install Outlook, you do NOT have to set it up as your mail software. My understanding is you just have to have it installed.
What did it do? I will tell you that I have discovered that sometimes you need to install Outlook on your computer to make this work. You do not have to set anything up on Outlook. You do not have to use Outlook for email, but apparently sometimes Outlook at least needs to be installed for this procedure to work.
You might make sure Microsoft Outlook is installed on your computer. You don’t have to set up an account but I think it needs to be installed on your computer for this to work.
Sure it will. Anytime you lower the number of pixels in a photo, it lowers the quality, but sometimes you don’t need such high quality. If you need to save the photos or email them or put them onto an SD card then this is the way to compress them and make each photo take up less memory.

This is the first time I have heard that. Did you go ahead and go through with it and see if it did any compression?

Why not just using a zip folder (lossless)?
The displayed method sould be a loss compression.
I like this method because you have a little more control over the final file size.
