What a beautiful city, Alena. It must be very inspiring to live there. It is amazing that it went from a place of destruction to one of magnificence. The message to me is keep on working, hoping and praying. Anything is possible, St. Petersburg is proof. Love to you and all of Russia. Nancy
Great work Alena! I am always amazed that this city is so beautiful after all the bombs dropped and shells fired and destruction of that 900 day siege! How much work must have been necessary to heal all that damage. Yet it is truly beautiful!
Thank you very much. Yes, I also wonder how it was possible to restore everything, I've seen pictures of the terrible destruction of Leningrad from the chronicle. It's incredible, beyond description how much was effort, diligence and striving to restore its former beauty after the war and nowadays.
Saint Petersburg is so beautiful Alena! Anyway I don't know if my russian is correct :D I didn't use the translator and I know really few things of russian just because of my ex girl, you know ))
Hi, Ricardo. You said : "the Red Saint Petersburg!" ))))))))) Most likely you did not mean red (Красное), but beautiful (красивый), as I understand it. Although the ancient Russian language just red meant beautiful. Why Red square is called so. So you could say you put it in the ancient Russian language. ) Thanks for the comment. )
Beautiful city but to see all the places I would need a 6 month vacation ! Is restoration + upkeep funded by the government ? About how many visitors a year ? Do many visit in the winter ?
Yes, of course, the Committee for state control, use and protection of monuments of history and culture - government body and deals with the restoration and preservation of the monuments in Saint-Petersburg. In 2015, the St. Petersburg showed one of the best in Europe results in increasing inbound tourism. According to Tripadvisor, last year the Petersburg climbed to the 9th position in Europe and 16th largest in the world, rising over the year. (Moscow, for example, is on the 22nd place in Europe). Last year Northern capital was visited by 6.5 million tourists in 2014, 6.1 million people), according to the relevant Committee of Smolny. Of course Saint Petersburg can be visited in the winter, just there will be no fountains, but the rest is a fairy tale, just the winter...) In St. Petersburg, many are going to celebrate the New year and Christmas. Because of the climate, Peter looks much better in the winter than in the fall or spring. Underfoot there will be no adverse slush, and the buildings around are dressed in winter white veil. Tour program should start with the Hermitage. If your craving for cultural values could not satisfy this huge historical site, the Russian Museum certainly finish the job. On its open spaces it contains more than 400 exhibits. Will be able to withstand such a blow art? Any walk on a winter city can flow smoothly in the Mikhailovsky garden. It is a quiet place with the cleanest pond and a rich architectural diversity. Children will appreciate a modern children's Playground. Winter Peter, you can admire from the Windows of cosy cafés. Confectionery "North" will pamper you with classic sweets. Some have not less than one hundred years. Cold time - good time for a trip to the Theatre of Lensovet. Here are the talented actors. Winter on the streets of St. Petersburg held a lot of exhibitions and other cultural events. The benefits of winter Peter: low prices for services of hotels; much less queues at most museums. If the summer hunting for a ticket to the Hermitage akin to Safari, the winter is almost empty; winter is a time of theatrical performances; a huge number of various exhibitions and forums. Frequent conferences on various topics; winter St. Petersburg has no less beauty and attraction, than the summer. I don't know exactly how many tourists in St. Petersburg in the winter, but I think that is less than summer, but enough..

Thank you,Alena...this video is excellent
Thank you for viewing. )

Russia - it’s Europe
In fact, Russia is much more, this is Eurasia ;-)
