How to make a stereo preamp using op-amp NE5532 | Master volume control.
In this video, I show a design of master volume control using op-amp NE5532. It is useful for stereo preamplifier. About the principle, it is simply an inverting amplifier, and you easily adjust the gain.

Yes.
I'm looking for a preamp to go between ceramic cartridge on my record player and line in on my amplifier, would this work or have you suggestions
This is only a circuit to control volume. By the way using op-amp, you can boost or cut the audio signal.
In your case, you can use this circuit if you do not need equalizer. If you need the equalizer, find my an another video in my playlist
I have preamp based on this chip and wired my ceramic record player cart to it to boost signal but does nothing to boost signal , even with 17 volt supply, it goes to line in on my power amp
Normally, to boost or cut an audio signal, you need a active tone control. This circuit is only volume control
With record players you need an RIAA circuit. Ceramic cartridges expect an input impedance of at least 1MΩ to properly follow the RIAA curve without the need for a preamp/equalizer.
