Jeans only on fridays?? Really? I've never heard of something so absurd, I've gone to A LOT of schools between kindergarten and senior graduation, as long as it was modest to mormon standards (skirts and shorts to knee length, or just above, shoulders covered and no more than 2 in of cleavage-3 inches if your girls are really big)they never said anything to the teachers they could dress how they wanted
@Idk it didn't seem like that from the video, plus I feel like most people won't know that unless they super love the movie, everyone I know only knows the "We wear pink on Wednesdays" bit
I’ve been to two different schools in the last year and both only allowed teachers to wear jeans on Friday’s. If they wanted to wear them throughout the week they had to get special permission. The teachers all voted on a day though and they decided Friday would be their one day for jeans.
I’ve lived in a lot of places, and most of the schools DO NOT make you cover up your shoulders, nor the jeans only on Friday. It’s most likely just wear you live.
I've worked at somewhere around 13 schools, and all of them have the no jeans except on Fridays policy. Schools almost always have a business casual or high standard of dress. Just like some jobs require a suit or pantsuit.
@@katimillard5924 I think it might be just where you live or the schools you work at because I have friends in a lot of different schools scattered everywhere and the all don’t have that.
Tbh that shirt still would be a problem because of the tie neck. Highly likely for it to get caught on something or pulled (unfortunately). Shoulders should be allowed but the neck is definitely still an issue
I work for a major beauty corporation and we have this rule. like 90% of our customers are women why is this a thing (not that that even matters)! What about my shoulders screams inappropriate and unprofessional
@@carlyberry8634 if a saw a teacher on a tank top and short shorts I would take them less seriously, why? I dont know id say the same thing if a male teacher came im ripped jeans and a metalica shirt.
It’s considered more professional to not show shoulders, it’s not for the same reasons as a student dress code might be. Also, unless you’re a teacher, which you could very well might be and this sentence might be very irrelevant, if this woman reacting to the video, a former teacher herself, is not getting bothered by these rules, I see no reason for you to be. Again you are entirely entitled to your opinion, I’m just sharing mine.
I'm pretty sure it's because if you're a woman with a bigger chest, the straps don't have much support, so a small mishap could cause someone possibly getting flashed. They make it for everyone, most likely so it's seen as an equal environment since you can't control how big your chest size is. It is also due to what is seen as professional.
*HER COMMENTS ARE BASED ON SOME AMERICAN SCHOOLS* She obviously hasn't taught in every school ever so it's understandable that she is speaking on her own experiences. I'm not american and teachers are allowed shoulders, skirts and jeans whenever, they can basically wear whatever as long as they can teach in it and they look professional :)
Schools are more slack since covid. I wear sweat pants as often as I can😅 shoulders are ok. Your teach in Utah. I do agree with some of your things that are inappropriate though...like super revealing with lots of skin. Sneakers and flats all the way too!
Y’all need to chill in the comments. It’s fine to mention diff school rules bc it’s fascinating and informative, but some of y’all are aggressive, rude, and straight up nasty at times. The videos are entertaining and I like seeing her react to diff outfits. Personally, my school district DOES follow those rules, in all grades. No shoulders, no stomach, no open-toed shoes, no jeans except Friday. It’s very semi-formal.
@@summersunflowerrr i mean no open toed shoes is for safety probably, no stomach makes sense too cause i’m most professional jobs you can’t have that out and shoulders are probs cause schools seem to think they are sexy for some weird reason so not really ridiculous just professional attire
as someone with two teachers for parents who’ve been teaching for 30 years: jeans are perfectly fine for any day not just friday that’s more of a private school thing, shoulders are okay honestly you just need to make sure it’s not a spaghetti strap and is a thicker line, skirts are also fine even if they’re over the knees as long as it’s not a damn miniskirt you’re good. these are rules i’ve picked up from my teachers and my parents just saying

It’s different in each schools. Like jeans, my school it’s only special and not every Friday but others do. It’s kind of hard to choose what’s ok and not just based on your school
Jeans are for everyday of the week unless you’re at a school with a business dress code. I know casual Fridays are a thing in offices but the only schools I haven’t been allowed to wear jeans at have been high-end private schools. Maybe because I’m a secondary school teacher though?
I work in a high school in Japan and we’re allowed to wear jeans everyday and show our shoulders-granted, the shoulder thing is only allows with a tank top in hot weather (not strapless), but still permitted nonetheless. Japan is much more conservative than the US too. It really depends on the school and administration .
I went to a public hs that had “Jean Fridays” for teachers and “Jean day” for students. The teachers also had dress codes where they had to wear a certain lengthened dress and what type of shirt they can wear, yadda yadda. So it really just depends on the school. Extra stuff if you want to know more about my school: Jean day would happen often, so I would see students wear jeans all the time. My school or most of the schools in my district, including districts near us, had to wear school “uniforms”(the students wore uniforms). So to wear jeans or days where we could dress up in “non-uniformed” clothes were like full-moons (it happens every so often). Of course, it just depends on the school and what they expect out of the students and teachers to follow. I personally didn't mind the uniforms since I didn't have to worry about what clothes to wear and what dress code i had to follow. But there were plenty of students in my school that complained a lot about the uniforms. So the "no shoulders", "no jeans","skirt length", "short length", etc. is dependent on the school.
My school only goes from Monday-thursday we don't do Fridays but the downside about that is we have virtual school days so we have to do work on our Chromebooks 2* a month and we get less of summer break we only get like around two months
