Have you heard of the artist called "Tame Impala"? He's like, super underground, and barely anybody listens to his stuff. He basically reinvented psychadelic music by practically modernizing it by focusing more on synths and unexpected, but catchy hooks. His song "The less I know the better" is one of the greatest pieces of music ever made, hands down. Tame Impala isn't just a music artist, it's like an experience. It really is unfortunate to know how he isn't mainstream, but that's probably why I like his stuff so much. Every album he makes is completely different than the last, and he never repeats the same sound, but he still manages to retain his signature style. It's almost baffling that I managed to stumble upon his music, you should definitely check him out though, best music I've ever heard.

2010s Indie was was weird mix of College subculture...this stereotype was often portrayed as "Art Nerds" or technology engineers...yet I found it interesting how the Indiefication of Internet Playlists effected the way we perceive 'Indie Music' to be from that perspective...because in reality, if you asked ten people, "what is an indie artist you listen to" in 2015, you would get some really intriguing answers from people who were interested in the music...however half of them had never heard anything 'indie' before '2010's indie' so we were going thru a cultural reevaluation...all of a sudden the "Psychedelic Rock" band Tame Impala was now "Indie" even though Currents is actually Disco album...it was just another reminder that "Indie" as a term for culture was becoming more common...the xx, Sleigh Bells, Toro y Moi, everything was all of sudden now called "Indie" and if those types of people liked your music the terminology for describing your Jazz, Trip Hop, and Ambient Noise projects, was from here on, "Indie"

Indie’s not dead; the word is just misused. If you’re supporting local businesses and avoiding corporate consumption, listening to bands that aren’t signed to major record labels, wearing secondhand clothes, incorporating diy practices into your lifestyle, etc; you’re living the indie lifestyle. These things haven’t gone away; they have just been overshadowed by “indie.”
We are living in the time of nostalgia - right now it's the nostalgia for 00s-early 10s. It's kinda weird to watch the style from your past make a come back around the younger generation - like growing up in the 90s you can't imagine a group of kids that would start to dress up like it's 60s again, but now you can see all the styles at once all over the place. But what will be next, when all the older styles would be already rediscovered again? Will it be the new cycle of nostalgia or something new finally?
