+Ryan H Lewis Also an important experimental change in Node 8 is the VM Neutral. What that means is that Node is currently very tightly bound to v8 API and when v8 API breaks it breaks Node, so node releases a new version to support that new V8 change and in the process it breaks a lot of npm packages. So once it becomes VM Neutral it can run on any Javascript engine, like V8, chakra, etc
