don't forget that chicken eggs are just as important as milk and cheese for cooking if you're going for perfection!
Saving your ancient seeds until you get a greenhouse doesn't make sense. Yes, your first plants will die but if you're lucky enough to get a seed or two in spring, plant that thing immediately! Even if you plant it on Spring 28 you'll still get 4 fruits pr plant to make seeds from, which is 12 seeds pr plant ready for your greenhouse if you're stubborn/lucky enough, slightly less if you're not. If you save them you'll have maybe 2-3 seeds for your greenhouse depending on your luck in the mines/when fishing. Sacrificing your first plants to the seasonal gods kicks up your ancient fruit income majorly once you get the greenhouse. Always sacrifice your first plants. Even if you don't get one until Summer 28. Yes, you'll only get 1 fruit but that's 3 seeds for the greenhouse, tripling your ancient fruit plants.
Or, you know, Summer 13 comes and your one single Ancient Fruit plant gets struck by lightning....

@@zkovach2 Unless you've got the materials to make a dozen+ rods by Summer 13 comes by, there's still that chance you can get a lightning strike on that one single ancient fruit plant. It's just too risky. A lightning rod won't save you if it is already processing, and your farm can receive a dozen or more lightning strikes in one single day.
Ostriches over pigs, sure they make slightly less but after setting them up and getting them to a high level they just lay eggs which after being made into mayonnaise sells for about 5 where pigs require you to pick up the truffles almost every day to make sure they are still efficient.
Doing a bit of math pigs make around 30k gold a week where ostriches make around 5k, taking into consideration pigs aren't active during winter and rainy days pigs make about 20k gold, so yes pigs are better but 20k are under perfect conditions, much more likely they will make a lot less, considering the fact that they need a lot of free tiles (and if you have a lot of pigs them producing truffles are going to limit the amount of tiles) so if you are really min-maxing late game you don't want your barns to take up over twice the amount of space.
For my closing arguments: Pigs are kind of ugly and the truffles look like poops which again look ugly
This is why I think ostriches are better, though it is situational, and I do also buy pigs for my first and maybe second year, depending on when I unlock ostriches.
I tend to agree. Plus, with ostriches you don't have to manually collect the truffles each and every day.
Just use an auto grabber !
Chickens make more gold per week than ostriches.

actually goats can be useful. If you put their gold quality cheese in the cask you will be able to generate an amount of daily money equal to the aged starfruit wine
Iridium quality Goat cheese: 800/7= 114 gold/Day
Iridium quality Star Fruit wine: 6300/56 = 112,5 gold/Day
Iridium quality Ancient Fruit wine: 4620/56= 82,5 gold/Day
but if you buy hay from marley you will have a yield of 100 g/day
if you buy star fruit seeds the yield will always be higher than goat cheese 105,3 gold/day
@@hasperry Exactly! I don't have the patience to wait on wine & find loading the cheese a fun weekly chore. I prefer animals to crops anyways. 2 deluxe barns of goats keeps my cellar busy & my pockets full lol.
The trash can is still useful! A lot of times I'm in the mines, or skull cavern, or the volcano and I fill up on inventory (which happens very quickly). Let's say I got a bunch of "trash" gems. gems are still worth money. I could either...
A). Drop them on the ground = 0 gold
B). Drop them in my default trash can = 0 gold
C). Drop them in my iridium trash can = 60% of the gold they are worth
A good skull cavern run can get you a dozen gems like topazes, emeralds, rubies, etc. You can easily get 2-5k worth out of just dropping gems in the iridium trash can that you'd normally leave laying on the floor. Also, trash weapons, boots, and rings that you don't need. I hate waiting for 2pm for the stupid guild to open as nobody else will buy equipment. All of those magnet rings, glow rings, weak weapons, and boots that drop in the mines and skull caves, or extra boots in the volcano that I don't need, can go right into the iridium can. 200g here, 300g there it adds up. Better than having it clog up your inventory so you can't pick up something else more valuable, or worse, just leaving it laying on the ground.
Regular sprinklers can be useful for your first summer with blueberries. Then while those are growing automatically you can get quality sprinklers in fall. Makes the game more fun and relaxed while not being that bad a money source
I only use regular sprinklers for flowers. One sprinkler. Four flowers. Twelve bee houses. ❤
I barely even play stardew valley anymore but i still get excited when you upload because your videos are entertaining yet clear and straight to the point

I enjoyed putting a slime hutch by Pierre's store. I put a few eggs in it and before long the town was overrun. At one point, there were so many slimes in town that it affected the game.
#9 by the time I have the theater I'm already friends with almost everyone except Krobus, Leo, the Dwarf
#10 the upgraded can is really useful in the volcanic dungeon
Dwarf loves all movies, I took her to the movies every week when she was my last friend needed for Perfection. I also used the movie theater a lot to heal from my "marry everyone for their unique stuff" year.
Most important thing in stardew valley : stop worrying about money so much. just enjoy the game

Most important lessons you can learn
I think actively thinking about ways to make money is fun and important because you need money to buy important things in the game, however constantly worrying about how you can maximise your profits every single day kind of goes against the essence of the game imo, but if thats your thing thats cool

#6) I do a fair amount of early game mining, and many of the gems I get at this point go into the shipping bin. I'll find more later and I need the money (particularly for the Vault.) I sell geodes outright during this phase. In the late game, you can catch up with abundant Omni Geodes that can't be sold even if you wanted to.
#7) You often find an Ancient Seed in the early levels of the mine. This is usually in like the first half of Spring. It actually makes sense to go ahead and plant it. You will get several harvests of Ancient Fruit you can plug into a Seed Maker to help get your greenhouse and/or [redacted] started.
#11) This is barely an issue. By the time you have the materials handy to actually craft a Crystalarium, rather than getting them for free somewhere, I don't think that using them for income is even relevant. Kegs and preserve jars are cheaper to construct and produce more money per day. Jade for staircases is probably the best use, especially now that deconstructors exist, as it makes for perhaps the best way to farm stone too. A ruby crystalarium for a convenient source of spicy eel could also be a decent idea, if you aren't using Lava Eel fish ponds.
Geodes are like 1g? Opening them at Clints and then selling them is just… way smarter in every sense.
@Miri E. geodes sell for 50 g, frozen geodes for 100 g, and magma geodes for 150 g. It does usually make sense to open them and sell the contents, but if you're strapped enough for cash that even opening a geode is too expensive just sell one or two to get going. Omni geodes sell for 0g, however they are a currency when trading with the desert trader.

I like to use a few regular sprinklers for the more "essential" crops that I may or may not forget every once in a while, like a Cauliflower or Green Bean, or maybe even your ancient fruit and sweet gem berry. They are fairly cheap for a mining enthusiast like me and add up quickly. Then when I get a slime hutch (Why not other than "uses lots of space on your farm") I recycle the sprinklers to water the dishes inside so I can check back once a week and get some free money. Plus, you never know if you'll get lucky and get a slime egg from killing a slime outside your farm because you have the hutch.
4:16 wrong, you can plant them, specially if you get them by spring or early summer. just dont sell their crops.
I have found that random strange doll 5 times already, I keep throwing it away but it always comes back. Really spooky game
By the time I unlock the theater I usually only have 5 or 6 people left to max friendship, Sandy, Leo, Krobus, Wizard, Leah, & the Dwarf, the Dwarf if it took me ages to get all the scrolls (seriously in my first playthrough I still can't get the yellow scroll, but in my most recent one I got them really quickly I didn't have to even try), since they're out if my general way or have another obstical in before I can even meet them.
Everyone else I've spoken to each time I head past them, and talking does help raise friendship over enough time
Until the mine carts are unlocked I talk to Linus, Robyn, Demetruis, Sebastian (After 2 hearts, before I have to line up with leaving or entering the mines to his sechdual which can be tricky) the most so they ten to hit 8-10 hearts with no or almost no gifts depending if I forgot their birthday or that character is romancing Sebastian (most of them do, but I have made it a point to eventually create characters that romance a different character just to have seen them all, so far I have done one for Shane and started one for Elliot and one for Maru. Mean while I have about 4 saves with Sebastian) and romance means I do give more gifts.
While Maru also lives in that house, I only seem to get her on days when she's helping her dad in the lab, or randomly when passing her in town so she actually takes longer than the others of her house to fill up.
I talk to each shop keeper when I buy from them, and I try and make sure to head to the salon late in the evening on day's I don't spend all day in the mines, partically on Friday evenings when a bunch of people are in there, Marnie may not notice you but if you wait until they leave or get there before she enters you'll be able to talk to her, I often catch Will and Elliot while ocean fishing at the beach, Penny Vincent and Jaz are ussually nearby when I'm visiting the Blacksmith or Library, whether by the water ir on the way to/in the Library, Jody and Caroline I often catch talking to each other in the square, Abigail I often catch eith just walking somewhere, playing her music, or in her dad's store, the later of which I have also caught a few others at. Haily and Sam take a bit longer but I do seem them around town often enough, and Evlyn and George I see either in town near the flowers/side of their house, or I enter their house on my way padt anyway, Alex is nearly always just outside the house as well, and Lewis I catch while buyong things or he's gardening.
By year two everyone has a least a few hearts some like the people in the mountains are even either full or only a few hearts off, by the time the community center is compleated most everyone is at least halfway (except the ones I named at the start), and I'll actally start focusing on tring to max friend them a bit more
Slime hunches are cool
The slime hutch gets you slime and petrified slime and allows you to get slime eggs. The egg press can give you all slime eggs except tiger slime eggs.

Yes! Chop those worthless bleaters into meat. Once friendship is in the bag, the rabbits go too. Honestly, I don't even keep the cows, magma caps are pretty common.
Nah, spending the 15-18th spring or 8-11th fall hunting for berries will keep you stocked up seasons.
@@Zigzagonein60seconds I guess that is a way to go, but that is time better spent. The magma caps are a quick grab while you are already in the dungeon. Seems more efficient.

@Dark Apostate but most people usually don't have access to magma caps the first year. That's where the berries come in handy. Same with the spring onions in the first year where energy sources can be sparse, your tools are shit, and you don't have sprinklers yet. After the first year they lose their relevance but in that first year they can literally be lifesavers.
I like regular sprinklers, because energy is just way too precious early game, but i'm the kind of guy that tries to hit the bottom of the mine ASAP on normal playthroughs, i even rush the copper pickaxe by day 5.
Imo is better to plant ancient fruit on the main farm because of starfruit that has basically the same profit as ancient fruit on ginger island while any and all combinations on the main farm won’t beat or come close to ancient fruit
I like the slime hutch simply because it's a purple castle and that's sick same reason for void chickens.
I accidentally sold my green strange doll without donating it after solving the secret note, I've yet to find another and its the only item missing from the museum collection... very frustrating.

Regarding #12 I would argue for keeping a single goat, replacing one of the cows. That way you have goat cheese as a pretty cheap loved gift for Leah and you don't need to gift her wine that you can profit from more.

defintely plant ancient seeds if 1. you havent unlocked greenhouse yet (as long as you get at least 1 harvest before it dies, it is 100% worth it) or 2. if you have filled your greenhouse and ginger island.

I only craft the lv1 sprinkler to complete the "craft everything", never use for once
Regular sprinklers are useful for flowers and honey. You don't want to waste a quality or iridium sprinkler on 1 single plant (a flower with beehouses around it) and you don't want to waste time watering that one flower every day, so a single normal sprinkler will do the job just fine.
I'm new on Stardew (I've just started it the end of 2022...well...around almost 2 months with 83 hours). I had never watched any tips about Stardew in youtube, and guess what? I chose "beach farm" as my very first farm.

Things that you shouldn't donate right away to the museum is prismatic shard and dino egg

Seed makers produce more seeds depending on quality so if you put a silver quality ancient fruit in you will get two whole ancient seeds

quality sprinklers are actually the worst sprinklers, you can get 100 normal sprinklers in your first spring, you will not be replacing them by quality sprinklers and only by iridium sprinklers by the time you got way too much stuff

right? i always see people talking about iridium wine but when i run the numbers, isnt iridium goat cheese just better to sell?
i mean, it takes 1 week to go from gold to iridium, and they sell for 1.120 g.
meanwhile, iridium starfruit takes 76 days to produce and sell for 6.300 g(5.900 g if you discount the seed price).
so it takes around 10-11 weeks to make iridium wine, by that time you would have produced 11.200g to 12.320g per cask in cheese.
if you only count the "casking time" its still 56 days, so in cheese you will be making 8.960 g. isnt it just better to cask the goat cheese and sell the starfruit wine at base quality?

what if i told you iridium quality goat cheese makes more money than iridium quality starfruit? they take only 1 week to go from gold to iridium, and sell for 1.120g each. it takes 56 weeks to cask a wine to go from base to iridium. and they sell for 6.300 g(but in truth its 5.900g since you will buy the seed).
56 days is 8 weeks. meaning you could have casked and sold 7 iridium cheese before the iridium wine was ready. 8 when you get it out.
so that's 8.960g. that's more than 3k in profit by comparison. and all you have to do is have grass in your farm for them to roam around.
if you max out the cask placement(189) you would need 5 barns, and still have enough space for a few other animals. at 125(optimal placement with walkable ground), you would only need 3 barns to keep your casks full.
