I'm from Assam and here in Maa Kamakhya temple we celebrate ambubachi. During this time the colour of Brahmaputra river turns red for three days and the temple remains closed for outsiders as maa Kamakhya is believed to be in her menstruation period. We celebrate it with ambubachi mela in the temple premises and it surrounding areas and during this time we don't wash clothes by using force, don't cut our nails and don't hurt soil (even for farming purposes) , don't cut trees etc. as we believe that since maa kamakhya is in her sensitive time of menstruation along her with the whole universe turns sensitive and we should avoid activities which can give pain the us or our mother nature
What She meant is correct with exception to few corrections; The Temple is not closed when Devi is on her monthly Cycles,but the idol is kept in a seperate area inside Temple where main Poojas are performed. The Temple main Diety is Lord Shiva,but Devi Adiparashakti is Famous. Lord Macaulay ,then Viceroy of Erstwhile Travencore had abused Devi on the Menstruation and Stopped the Government Financial assistance,has later Offered Golds chain and other precious ornaments to Devi as Apologies and still Devi wears it during the yearly festivals

The reason why women are seperated from men during menstruation is because sexual intercourse will increase the risk of vaginal infection since the semen of men is also alkaline which makes the environment even more alkaline. That is why men are advised to refrain from sexual intercourse during menstruation. As someone who goes there I don't believe much about the stain part but if you give a special Pooja to Devi with turmeric,you can actually influence your menstrual cycle. Believe it or not it actually didn't came on the day I was expecting as someone having regular periods. There are people who did not have same results too. Idk maybe it's just my belief and I've got no proof for it,but this has happened.

Yup and even the priests in the temple believes that she bleeds and in that temple not only the yoni or vagina part will get red but many statues in that temple turns red because of the higher rate of mercury sulphide(you can google up for the statue images so you can see almost every stone I mean statue truns into red) and those temple management are literally fooling people by selling the cloth which is covered around the yoni claiming that it's actually soaked in the blood of the goddess at a whopping price of upto 15cr in the auction. Until there are educated people with some brains these scams takes places almost in every part of our country. People are just dumb lol

As someone who lives nearby, the temple wont be closed...its just the room where the idol of devi is placed is closed..there is a seperate room very next to that room where she stays for those days😊

There is a backstory too the story of Mr. Munro, a British resident, who had laughed at the belief that the Goddess menstruates, and stopped all grants for observing it. Since then, it is said, that his wife started bleeding severely without stop. Though he supposedly consulted many doctors, his wife’s period did not stop. A wellwisher of Mr. Munro told him that it may be due to his action in stopping the grants to Chengannur temple. Then Munro said that if his wife is cured, he will create a trust whose interest would be sufficient to observe the celebration of the Thirupoothu (periods) of the Goddess. His wife was apparantly cured soon after. Apart from a creating the trust, Mr. Munro also presented two golden bangles to the Goddess. Mr. Munro’s family continues to sponsor the first period of the Goddess even today

This temple is near to my native ,and a correction ..Temple is not at all closed during the four days but only the Nada of Sree Parvathy Devi is closed but you can have the Darshan of Idol which is kept inside the Temple and Main Idol of the Chengannur is Maha Devan(Shiva)

It is also a four day festival and all the girl and women are not allowed to do any household work all the men of their home do the all household work and the girl and women enjoys the festival by eating veriety of food and by swing on the Raja doli......... When Maa Kamakhya bleeds, there's a huge festival by the name of Ambubachi is celebrated where the doors of temple remains closed. The deity is considered to be even more sacred and pure during this time. People from all over the world flock around to witness this festival. Foreigners in good numbers are spotted during this time. Aghoris, Naga sadhus, etc come in huge numbers. The crowd is unimaginable.
A same ritual like this is celebrated every year in the month of June in Assam in Kamakhya Temple and a big fair is also held there known as Ambavachi Mela. This festival is also celebrated for four days....🙏

I have visited this temple. There is another story. A British officer who came to know about the Thripooth mocked about it. His wife started extremely heavy bleeding and no doctors could cure her. Someone advised to seek apology from the Devi. He apologized and offered a huge sum. The bleeding of the wife stopped and even now the thripooth aratt is conducted by the interest from the sum

It's happening in kamrup kamakhya from ages and ambubachi celebrated there. at that time Devi menstruated for 3 days .at those days the Brahmaputra river completely become red. And the cloth under devi become red too.
oh this is how problems at many houses started by keeping the girls/women away like we are having some impure body. separate bed, not allowed to sit with family members, cannot attend a fricking birthday party (no i'm completely fine, as in no cramps nothing, why such treatment when nothing?) so much treatment for the goddess by all the women and priest and the same people treating their girls/women like untouchables. (happens at my home and surroundings too.) why this hypocrisy?
It's not about being untouchables, there are many things happening in your body that our saints used to know earlier, so they kept certain restrictions, but not being allowed to sit with everyone, and sleep with everyone is a thing made by people. Like my mother also says that don't go out often during periods, coz at that time hormonal changes are going on in our body, and we attract negative energies real fast. Likewise, temples and kitchen has fire element in it, which mismatches with our energy, and imbalance is created in the environment and our body. For that also, we are asked to not enter kitchen or temple. For having s*x with partner, we don't really realise the bodily changes we are going through at that time, and also for hygiene purposes, we are asked not to, but many a times, it happens that arousal is strong during these days, so in order to stop the couple, they are separated from each other. So yeah these were some of the things I know, on others I'm still working. Hope that clears your doubts. We have everything based on science, just that we don't know it, and we have to get to the depth of it.

Here in assam we have a temple called kamakhya temple where amoti is Celebrated. It said when Shiva was holding the lifeless body of Mata Sati and Shree Vishnu Bhagwaan Send his Chakra to cut Mata sati's body in several part her uterus fell in this place. It is also said during amoti the gate of the temple is close and some red substance flow from that temple also that the water body near that area becomes red during that time. Probably because it's Mata Sati's menstrual period
There's this temple in Assam called Kamakhya where Goddess Swati is worshipped and during the time of her mensuration once every year a big mela is held

I'm from Assam and here in Maa Kamakhya temple we celebrate ambubachi. During this time the colour of Brahmaputra river turns red for three days and the temple remains closed for outsiders as maa Kamakhya is believed to be in her menstruation period. We celebrate it with ambubachi mela in the temple premises and it surrounding areas and during this time we don't wash clothes by using force, don't cut our nails and don't hurt soil (even for farming purposes) , don't cut trees etc. as we believe that since maa kamakhya is in her sensitive time of menstruation along her with the whole universe turns sensitive and we should avoid activities which can give pain the us or our mother nature

As someone who goes there I don't believe much about the stain part but if you give a special Pooja to Devi with turmeric,you can actually influence your menstrual cycle. Believe it or not it actually didn't came on the day I was expecting as someone having regular periods. There are people who did not have same results too. Idk maybe it's just my belief and I've got no proof for it,but this has happened.

Yup and even the priests in the temple believes that she bleeds and in that temple not only the yoni or vagina part will get red but many statues in that temple turns red because of the higher rate of mercury sulphide(you can google up for the statue images so you can see almost every stone I mean statue truns into red) and those temple management are literally fooling people by selling the cloth which is covered around the yoni claiming that it's actually soaked in the blood of the goddess at a whopping price of upto 15cr in the auction. Until there are educated people with some brains these scams takes places almost in every part of our country. People are just dumb lol

There is a backstory too the story of Mr. Munro, a British resident, who had laughed at the belief that the Goddess menstruates, and stopped all grants for observing it. Since then, it is said, that his wife started bleeding severely without stop. Though he supposedly consulted many doctors, his wife’s period did not stop. A wellwisher of Mr. Munro told him that it may be due to his action in stopping the grants to Chengannur temple. Then Munro said that if his wife is cured, he will create a trust whose interest would be sufficient to observe the celebration of the Thirupoothu (periods) of the Goddess. His wife was apparantly cured soon after. Apart from a creating the trust, Mr. Munro also presented two golden bangles to the Goddess. Mr. Munro’s family continues to sponsor the first period of the Goddess even today

This temple is near to my native ,and a correction ..Temple is not at all closed during the four days but only the Nada of Sree Parvathy Devi is closed but you can have the Darshan of Idol which is kept inside the Temple and Main Idol of the Chengannur is Maha Devan(Shiva)

It is also a four day festival and all the girl and women are not allowed to do any household work all the men of their home do the all household work and the girl and women enjoys the festival by eating veriety of food and by swing on the Raja doli.........

I am from Assam and there's a famous temple called Kamakhya temple. This is known as the place where yoni (genitals and womb) fell after lord Shiva's tandav dance with the corpse of Devi Sati. When Maa Kamakhya bleeds, there's a huge festival by the name of Ambubachi is celebrated where the doors of temple remains closed. The deity is considered to be even more sacred and pure during this time. People from all over the world flock around to witness this festival. Foreigners in good numbers are spotted during this time. Aghoris, Naga sadhus, etc come in huge numbers. The crowd is unimaginable.

There is another story. A British officer who came to know about the Thripooth mocked about it. His wife started extremely heavy bleeding and no doctors could cure her. Someone advised to seek apology from the Devi. He apologized and offered a huge sum. The bleeding of the wife stopped and even now the thripooth aratt is conducted by the interest from the sum

It's happening in kamrup kamakhya from ages and ambubachi celebrated there. at that time Devi menstruated for 3 days .at those days the Brahmaputra river completely become red. And the cloth under devi become red too.
The same thing happens in one of the shaktipeet in Assam.. 3 days in a month then temple is closed for darshan

oh this is how problems at many houses started by keeping the girls/women away like we are having some impure body. separate bed, not allowed to sit with family members, cannot attend a fricking birthday party (no i'm completely fine, as in no cramps nothing, why such treatment when nothing?) so much treatment for the goddess by all the women and priest and the same people treating their girls/women like untouchables. (happens at my home and surroundings too.) why this hypocrisy?
It's not about being untouchables, there are many things happening in your body that our saints used to know earlier, so they kept certain restrictions, but not being allowed to sit with everyone, and sleep with everyone is a thing made by people. Like my mother also says that don't go out often during periods, coz at that time hormonal changes are going on in our body, and we attract negative energies real fast. Likewise, temples and kitchen has fire element in it, which mismatches with our energy, and imbalance is created in the environment and our body. For that also, we are asked to not enter kitchen or temple. For having s*x with partner, we don't really realise the bodily changes we are going through at that time, and also for hygiene purposes, we are asked not to, but many a times, it happens that arousal is strong during these days, so in order to stop the couple, they are separated from each other. So yeah these were some of the things I know, on others I'm still working. Hope that clears your doubts. We have everything based on science, just that we don't know it, and we have to get to the depth of it.

My native place😍🫶 chengannur , kerala. There is a difference from kamakhya devi as all commented. There it is once in a year. But here , it is in almost all month ie; monthly periods as for ordinary women🙏🙏❤️several times I had seen the stained cloth of Maa Parvathi
Kamakhya devi also mensturate and the river bhamputra water also become red as blood of devi and a white cloth also turns red because of blood of devi.

Here in assam we have a temple called kamakhya temple where amoti is Celebrated. It said when Shiva was holding the lifeless body of Mata Sati and Shree Vishnu Bhagwaan Send his Chakra to cut Mata sati's body in several part her uterus fell in this place. It is also said during amoti the gate of the temple is close and some red substance flow from that temple also that the water body near that area becomes red during that time. Probably because it's Mata Sati's menstrual period
