Laena, Rhaenyra, Daemon, Laenor and their kids basically being one big happy family for a couple of years is one of my favourite parts in the book... I REALLY hope they show us at least a sliver of it. At least to show what could have been if the dance never happened.
They apparently will be skipping over a lot of things to keep the plot moving and get to the start of the war. But I agree, it actually ads depth to the story and the Velaryon siblings loss could be seen as a bonding experience for Daemon and Rhaenyra.
With these damn time jumps . We’ll be at
“KinSlayer” by season end.

I think Alicent is extremely jealous of the love, King Viscerys, has for Rhanerya's mom. Thus, the reason why the King loves his heir and his Grandsires so much. Otto treated Alicent like a chess piece, like a pawn. That's got to hurt.
Actually no Alicent had Rhanerya’s back when they asked about her chasity when Rhaenyra lied Alicent trusted her friend so much that she even put her honor on the line infront of her husband but when Criston Cole told her what exactly happened the love she had for her friend was finally tainted and not only that she finally understood that her father that wanted his heirs his family on the throne was to survive because it’s obvious Rhaenyra wants the throne so bad that she willing to use people and toss them to the side when she is done with them. When Alicent came to the Royal party in a green dress(green symbolizing the color that House Hightower displays when they are going to war) it’s her declaration of Alicent finally playing the game of thrones. Her checking the kids now and using her power as the queen it’s a move because once you play the game of thrones either you win or you die.

So excuse me after all of this "friendship" from alicent that raenhyra didn't trust her suppose friend and didn't told her what really happened because she may thought alicent father is trying everything for preventing me to be the queen especially now his daughter alicent has a son (which for most nobility has more right then raenhyra) so maybe alicent is the same or if she tells her dad what I told her yet again she will betray me
So I completely supported raenhyra on the scene of not telling anything to alicent because after everything alicent did was disappoint raenhyra, imagine having your best friend same age become one day your stepmom all of a sudden and without her telling me or comment about just for the sake of friendship I would have feel betrayed by her and never forgive her

Also Alicent’s father Otto Hightower road away mad at Alicent because Alicent chose her husband’s family over her own. So that theory you got there is out the window.
Idk what kinda relationship you got but having siblings is the closest relationships you will ever have. Hell even in Westeros during the Blackfyre rebellion 2 Targaryen bastard brothers hated eachother because they both loved their own sister so they tried to kill themselves over and over again. A best friend is nothing actually in Westeros many women are forced to marry guys they don’t even like like Alicent for example in one episode her face even showed how much she was disgusted having sex with Viserys.
Also Daemon love? Lmao 🤣that’s the most hilarious shit I ever heard he wants the iron throne and he would marry Rhaenyra to get it lust and love are 2 different things. Rhaenyra lusts for Daemon but lusts for the iron throne and he sees Rhaenyra as a tool for him to use. He is literally a manipulated arrogant bastard. If he truly loves Rhaenyra he would stay in King’s landing and help out his brother instead of giving him trouble.
In the book Rhaenyra said that she would’ve given Alicent’s sons a place in her court had they not challenged her claim to the Throne. I believe she would’ve honoured this up until the loss at Storms end, that marked the point of no return.
True! Maybe Alicent knew that, but she probably didn't trust Daemon to honor that and went with her instincts.

I think for Book!Alicent, and to a much lesser extent Otto (because he's a power-hungry jerk in every cannon), the question about whether to oppose Rhaenyra came down less to "do I think Rhaenyra will kill my kids" and more to "do I think *Daemon* will kill my kids." The answer to the first question is somewhere between a no and a maybe (kinslaying and all that), but the answer to the second question is heck yes.
And personally, I can understand why Daemon would kill the kids: it's the pragmatic thing to do. Terrible and morally reprehensible, but pragmatic. Look throughout history (both ours and theirs) and you'll see instance after instance of discontented lords rallying behind this banner and that because the person on the throne displeased them and there was someone *right there* with enough of a legitimate claim to the throne that they could be seated upon it with swords. It doesn't matter if the claimant actually wants the throne or not. What matters is that they're a rallying point (see Elizabeth Tudor who never tried to actually usurp her half-sister, but was still used as the figurehead for multiple plots against her, which eventually landed her in the Tower).
And in this situation, given how patriarchal and sexist the lords are, Aegon and his brothers would always be a threat to Rhaenyra's rule, so yes, the terrible but pragmatic thing to do would be kill them, which is how Daemon would have justified it and what Alicent feared.
@@braveandblessed9279 Really liked that point you made about Elizabeth considering elements of this time period make up the Game of Thrones world after Aegon’s conquest it definitely makes sense why Daemon would want them dead and why Alicent would think he would hurt them. I also thought about Mary Queen of Scot’s in this way. She may have been more involved in plots that Elizabeth but there was evidence to suggest she was not involved in all the plots her name was used against Elizabeth. Elizabeth was hesitant to sign her death warrant but ultimately did because even if Mary wasn’t going to plot against her, a catholic monarch who had a claim was a threat of rebellion that she had to get rid of. Keeping Aegon on court even if he supported Rhaenyra was likely going to spark support for him and against her.

I would add to the conflict between Alicent and Rhaenyra is Alicent’s jealousy of Rhaenyra because she has a certain freedom that Alicent did not have. Alicent father sent her to seduce the King who was old enough to be her father and who was also sick and diseased. This is who she lost her maiden head to. Someone she neither loved or was attracted to but did as her father bid her do. Where as Rhaenyra got to give hers to someone of her own choosing and that person happen to be the young dashing Ser Cristin.. I’ve always felt this is what angered her more and not the “lie” about not having sex with Deamon which Rhaenyra did not lie about.

I feel surprised they didn’t have them bonding over riding dragons. We know that Rhaenyra loved the idea of winning glory in battle, and Laenor literally did that while by masterminding the high risk plan and coming in with his dragon on the step stones. They could have talked about that, really showed that their mutual respect went beyond just their arrangement to stay out of each other’s love lives. I think it would have been super sweet to also show Laenor verbally and enthusiastically agree to raise the kids as his own, maybe seeding the idea that he would have loved to take them on their first sea voyage when they were close to coming of age, basically declaring that he wants them to have some Valyrion traditions even if Jace was going to eventually become a Targaryen.
I can't wait to see Aemond Targaryen. I really hope they show just how cold, crazy and unforgiving his character actually is. Daemon on Caraxes with Laena on Vhagar is gonna be fun to see. Can't wait. the first 5 eps were really setup, this is where the true story starts! bring on the Dance!

The difference is Rhaenys is half Baratheon, hence the black hair. Rhaenyra and her husband both have white hair

The kinslaying was a big thing for Rhanera I don’t think she would have harmed her half siblings if she took the throne like you said Daemon would have for sure but Rhanera wouldn’t have. She didn’t harm Haelena and she didn’t harm Alicent either…once they took the throne from her that was a different story they would have to die for treason.
I really love the casting with this whole series. I think that casting has been awesome. I know that some people complain about the casting but I personally think that it was great.
THE ONLY COMPLAINING IS ABOUT THE BLACK CAST MEMBERS AND THOSE PEOPLE ARE BUGGING.......ALL THESE ACTORS ARE MARVELOUS
Just a thought, while I personally also think that Rhaenyra's first three kids are Harwin Strong's, the argument could be made, within the book universe, at least, that the older boys actually are Laenor's.
Hear me out. Laenor's mother is Rhaenys Targaryen, who's mother was Jocelyn Baratheon (daughter of Alyssa Velaryon and Rogar Baratheon). Jocelyn Baratheon's hair was black because the Baratheon seed is strong, even though her mother was pure Valyrian. Book!Rhaenys' hair is also black (I assume they changed it to silver/white in the show to make it clearer that she's a Targaryen). Therefore, it is possible that Laenor, although he inherited his father's silver Valyrian hair, could pass on dark haired genes to his sons because the Baratheon seed is strong (plus, genetics are weird in this world so who knows what's possible). The fact that the boys are large and lusty? That doesn't automatically make them Strongs. You know what other characters are described as large and lusty? Baratheon men. If I recall correctly, Orys was described as very large, as was Rogar.
Therefore, the argument could be made that Luke, Jace, and Joffrey actually were legitimate, they just didn't inherit the Valyrian looks (similar to how Baelor Breakspear inherited his Dornish mother's looks rather than his Targaryen father's, which also caused whispers that he might not be worthy of the throne because he didn't look Valyrian enough). And Alicent, who's own children did look Valyrian, simply used their non-Targaryen looks against them because it strengthened her own sons' claim to the Iron Throne.
And yes, I know Laenor is gay, but that just means he's not sexually attracted to Rhaenyra. Sexual attraction is not strictly necessary to do what's necessary to produce a child (bodily reactions to stimuli happen whether we will them to or not). Or maybe Rhaenyra pulled a Show!Margaery and brought in her husband's paramour to 'get things started' for him. Who knows? The point is, I think it is possible that the brown-haired boys are trueborn, and I think that would add yet another layer to the whole tragedy of the Dance, the fact that Rhaenyra was punished and maligned for yet another thing outside of her control (she can't help that she's a woman who's husband has too much Baratheon blood!).
Anyhow, just a thought.
Also, keep in mind that, historically, the reason bastards were such a problem (dynastically speaking) was that they often threatened to inherit stuff from a father who wasn't actually theirs (it's one of the reasons men could go around having all the bastards they wanted but women couldn't since monogamy was the only way to ensure paternity back then and inheritance was through the father). But in this case, Rhaenyra's sons would be inheriting titles and positions from her, not their father (with regards to the Iron Throne). It's her blood that's royal, therefore it's her blood that matters. The father is irrelevant in this context. All that matters is that they're Targaryen, which they are because we know that they're definitely Rhaenyra's children.
I think it have do with Robert's line and his family have always produce children with Black of hair. Black is dominant, over lighter hair color. This go with whole who is Jon Snow's Parents, I don't think it Rhaegar or Lyanna. In the books Jon is always mistake for Robb because he looks like a Stark and Robb takes after his mother colouring. Only Arya out Cathyn's 5 kids looks a like Stark.
well said. This is an interesting theory. I think the book also wrote in a way that encourages disputes regarding who the real father of rhaehyra's three children is. But as you said, who the real father is doesn't matter cuz the children are inheriting title from their mother. I guess essentially those people just don't want a woman to be the heir to the throne.

You have to think critically and realize that she is not merely jealous that Rhaenyra is living her best life. She’s envious because her father is setting her up with all these old men in these inappropriate situations where she can’t choose her lover or who takes her virginity. But Rhaenyra has the freedom to do so, much more complicated

They don’t have proof, because Laenor’s mother had Black hair. Genetics are funny like that and it’s been known that certain features, coloring ect can skip a generation. My grandfather had grey eyes, his kids didn’t get them and only 1 grandchild( the youngest of us) inherited those eyes.
That would make sense and the fact that black hair is a dominant trait.
