Russia has been trying to negotiate for 8 years. What you're not told is that the CIA overthrew Ukraine in 2014, it wasn't a revolution. Since then Ukraine has built more than 25 biological weapons labs and has been bombing Eastern Ukraine for the entire time. Eastern Ukraine, as a result of the Holodomor was populated by Russians - they speak Russian, they have a bit of a different culture than the Ukrainians, and there were victims as much as the people who were removed (through starvation) from Stalin's forced collectivization.
Russia has, for 8 years, been trying to negotiate with Ukraine to stop to bombing of Eastern Ukraine, and for them no to join NATO since they have been twice invaded through Ukraine before. This is the ONLY thing they wanted, and Ukraine simply refused.
Russia has stated repeatedly, that they regard NATO inclusion of Ukraine as a threat to Russia, a serious threat. If this is the case, they will use nuclear weapons to end this war if they must.
And all this because the CIA overthrew the nation 8 years ago.

So anyone who believes Russia would expand its war = has a hole in their head. It's what all dictators do they replace competency with loyalists, because they themselves succeeded in power by way of their own coup detat and therefore always fearing the next coup is coming for them. Russia lost an enormous number of solders in WW2 that far outnumbered any other nation resulting from incompetency. For God's sake they lost nearly 90,000 solders in the battle for Berlin in roughly ten days of battle against a broken army of old men and children, the last gasps of Germany. In addition to 250,000+ wounded casualties. Irrespective of the prospect of membership in NATO, open aggression toward Finland would SEEM like an unthinkable blunder to anyone who has studied history.
This is a nation whose independence and autonomy has been maintained and recognized for a LONG time. Many centuries ago, the ancient Vikings tried making an incursion there and got sent home with their tails between their legs -- never to return. In the centuries to follow, attempts by other such hostile empires have been met with similar results.
On a modern world stage, I can't imagine this working out well for Putin or Russia as a whole.

The relentless twisting of facts by the western mainstream media have kept their audiences in the dark, leaving little, if any room for debate. Judging by the majority of comments, the amount of uninformed and uneducated people is simply disturbing.

The expansion of NATO in late 1990's was justified on the basis of a imaginary "Russian threat". The break up of Warsaw Pact was a sign of Moscow's intent to move away from the Cold War politics., and NATO on the other hand, was not disbanded. In fact, it grew even bigger. Ironically, today we see the same imaginary "Russian threat" being used in a US-led effort to gobble up the remaining few neutral countries and incorporate them into the ever-expanding NATO alliance.
Europe is on the brink of becoming American Imperial Legion. This is evident by the ongoing campaign to strip the Europeans of their national identity and pride and make them an instrument of the US foreign policy where they will be used as pawns to fight and die under the blue flag of NATO for strictly US interests in it's ultimate quest to the East.
Bringing more troops and weapons to the Russian border will not bring stability in Europe. It's a recipe for disaster.

In any other context this would be a prelude to a joke, however in 2022 this is our reality. If people want to protest against the war in Russia they can engage in passive resistance and still have a huge impact. If done at a low enough individual level it would be hard for the authorities to uncover. Let's start with the railroads: 1)They can stage silent strikes where workers don't show up for work or call in sick. If the workers rotate who will be sick it can be hard to detect. 2)They can also change bills of lading to misdirect shipments to the wrong area or they can ship it via a circuitous route which is inefficient. 3)They can sit on paperwork to slow shipments. 4)They can damage signaling and switching equipment. 5)They can delay safety inspections and refuse to let shipments move until they are complete. 6)They can manipulate shipping schedules and create traffic jams by scheduling multiple trains on the same piece of track at the same time. 7)They can delay the loading and offload of supplies. 8)They can schedule unnecessary repairs which delay shipments. 9)They can purposefully load the wrong supplies on the wrong trains. 10)They can under or overload trains. If overloaded the chance of accident and maintenance increases. If they intentionally underutilize shipments that can cause logistical problems too.

@@chabekak Hi, you're right about the comma. I don't know why spell check does some of the things it does. Also agree with you on several of your points.
However, Russia was the principal part of the Soviet Union. It can be argued that it's military was even more powerful then it is now because the Soviet Union encompassed a larger population and therefore more troops.
Also, it would appear that the modern Russian army is still using Soviet military doctrine. Essentially modern weapons withstanding, it's still a very similar military to the one that fought the Finns in the winter war.
And as far as Finland losing the winter war, the very fact that the Soviet Union ( Russia) agreed to stop fighting in exchange for 9% of Finland when their objective was to incorporate the entirety of the country into the Soviet Union I would call fighting them to a standstill.
The fact of the matter is that the Soviet Union found the winter war extremely costly.
One final point for you. I'm in my mid '50s and don't really watch TV news or even the TV very much. The history I have comes out of books that in some cases are older than I am. My parents were adults during much of the aforementioned history so, there you go.
