This is my all-time favourite by Gabriel Faure, and originally composed in 1898 and performed for two pianos by Alfred Cortot and Gabriel Faure himself, and orchestrated in 1906 by Faure`s closest friend Henri Rabaud, who became Faure`s closest friend as well as a composer himself, until he passed away in 1949.

remember listening to this as a child and trying to think of things in my past but I was a child ...amazing nostalgia

Pure magic in sound. The music brings on a deeply intangible nostalgic feeling.

Goûtez moi cette polyphonie d'un raffinement extraordinaire , cela éveille un mort , chasse les idées noires , elles s'échappent au fil du temps . Fauré fut un magicien des notes , un peu comme Rameau et Debussy , à peu près son contemporain .

A 5 o´clock tea musical piece... as soft and sweet as Alice in the Wonderland...without the bloody Queen of Spades. Very tasty.

@@brianhammer5107 I agree that it moves along, but at a pace that is far too fast. This is supposed to be a lullaby i.e. to help a baby go to sleep. You cannot rush these things!
