Not really, they are actually born to create something. Veldanava create almost everything in Tensura Universe, Velzard probably created the region where Guy lives, Veldora create monsters and Rimuru can create anything within his power. As for Velgrynd, she isn't particularly affiliated to anything in Tensura but she must have created something.
The main reason they made a labyrinth is that veldora can let it out where no body dues but it's also thanks to his magicules that monsters spawn in the labyrinth too

rimuru doesn't have an infinite stomach, its huge but not infinite, the difference in total energy between veldora and rimuru is around 15-20x

Yes, Rimuru could absorb Veldora's energy. He doesn't do it because of plot it doesn't occur to anyone. Not because Veldora is too strong, or Rimuru couldn't hold it or anything else. It's just plot. Beside they need to find a real solution. Otherwise Rimuru would have to suck Verdora periodically. And when the rest of the crew keep getting stronger. Will have to do it with them as well? They need to build a place where they can relax properly. Hence the labyrinth, which turn out to be a great idea.
