- I found this ND Miata Racing Beat Exhaust for sale locally, and figured it couldn't sound bad on the RX8. Its a bit loud...but it has a certain tone!. I am stoked to hear it rip on the track this weekend. O Yea, the car starts and runs now :)
Thanks For checking out the video!!

i love how knowledgable you are about cars. learning all types of stuff for my own rx8. subscribed
Thanks man!!!! Let me know if you have any questions! Heaps of rx8 stuff coming after DGRR
I had to replace my oil cooler crush washers when I replaced my engine too - bought new ones for both sides from Atkins. They just can’t be re-used.
I did something similar with my rx8. I had a berk technology single 3" from my old s2000 and did a header back 3". Sounds great and way lighter than stock.
I love my agency power from the cat all the way out. 3in all the way. It's deep and quite when u coast
I'm sure you know, but the oil & temp guages are basically "dummy" guages, they only really tell you if you have oil pressure, or not, and if the coolant is warm, or not. If you plan on some track days a couple of aftermarket guages are a good idea.
That's that good ole stationary gear wine on rev.
I've got that belt pretty loose. But who knows what going on in the engine haha
@@RADPotential Yea I'm specifically talking about after the repair. Your garage space acoustics amplifies the gear wine. It's normal and unique.
Love the video and I have a question I find hard to get clear answers, yellowish foam on oil dipstick rx8, should I worry?
Engine isn't getting warmed up enough to burn the moisture out of the oil. Not unCommon for a rotary in the winter.
i used to drive a 70s mazda 626 that had rx8 seats.
Is this still running the factory exhaust manifold? I am running a set of Maxim Racing Parts headers from Japan. Mandrel bent 3 into 1, revs out faster than factory.
Yea. Stock midpipe and header
You can also change the thermostat to a racing thermostat so it can open up earlier then the stock one it helps and have the fan turn earlier too to keep it cool
I’ve read that just changing the thermostat wont help out unless the radiator is also changed. Is that true? I have an rx8 and want to do cooling mods, also is a vented hood like seibon any good since they also let the hot air out
@@juanramos89 I change the thermostat on my and did the cooling fan mod too so the fan come on earlier and my temperature went from 220 down to between 180- 200 with out changing the radiator
@@juanramos89 true because when engine is hot termostaty is just open, no help. Fan mods is suggested.
@@dgmdgm7271 what about vented hood, like seibon or carbon creations
@@juanramos89 that I’m not sure but I’ll imagine it would work to get the heat out of the engine bay
Have a really nice track day friend. When you go to track, you have to premix double the 2Toil quantity than the normal daily use… is it true?
Nah not double the normal bit. I'll go thru my process when I get to the track in the next video!!
@@RADPotential awesome 👏 🤩
I love the fact you can openly admit you made a mistake.
Failure is just testing! Can't learn anything without testing
Would your single side ND muffler be roughly akin to Racing Beat’s single side competition RX8 muffler? I’m currently running a Greddy cat back; but considering options.
Looking at that RB single side exhaust. I would say that what I built is effectively the same thing! I didn't blow sound this weekend. Car sounds great!
Did you get those pulleys in less than 6 months? That guy is known to be the slowest shop out there...
Got them in 5 days lol
Is it true getting rid of the oem muffler on a N/A rx8 lowers low end torque even more ?
Any time you install a more free flowing exhaust. It's going to loose some low/midrange power. But pickup power on the midrange/top end
Larger diameter pipe can reduce the speed of the exhaust causing torque loss at the low end. Same with intake. Narrow diameter often means greater intake speed meaning more low end torque; however at higher rpm the narrow diameter acts as restriction.
Temper the copper washer. Heat with map gas and let cool and reinstall.
I took it apart. Cleaned it. Put it back together and we are sealed up!!
man you should hear my exhaust on my rx8 its so loud hahaha
What is with the smoke is it the cold temperature?
Cold and this engine has been sitting with a bunch of 2 stroke oil in it for a few months. For sure has oil and stuff in the exhaust that needs to burn out
@@RADPotential that makes sense. thank you
What mid-pipe are you using?
It's a stock midpipe with a "high flow" cat ;)
Whats the reason for only a front swaybar?
Stock rear. Whiteline front. A stiffer bar will alow you to keep the suspension plush and still reduce body roll
@@RADPotential ah alright. I remember reading(maybe wrong info) that it may cause the rear "get away" from you in hard cornering. Any truth to that?
Mainly curious as to add to my track list of parts.
@@psychicer5022 rotaries tend to come with much stiffer rears than front in stock form
@@QajjTube cool to know. I remember almost slammin my FD into another car because the back broke loose, I have a Tripoint type of front sway bar on that. But it also could have been the bad tires
