    I ordered three "GRA certified" moissanite stones and when I received the stone and the "GRA Reports" they were all three different and NONE of the certification numbers returned as valid. My stones are real, however, as the hardness tester revealed this.

If the certificate is fake it does not take away from the beauty of the jewelry and no one goes around flashing their certificate of authenticity. If people want to sell this cheap jewelry, it is a different matter. To those who wear them, it makes not an iota of difference.

      The association does not exist. Charles & Colvard had a patent in many countries to restrict Silicon Carbide from being cut into a gemstone. Only South Korea rejected the US patent so what they have in Korea that is a Silicon Carbide gemstone is called Amora Gem. No international grading association is currently grading Moissanite. So the Association is fake - or is not recognized. I didn't avoid anything you can go look it up yourself. Yes, the producers of Moissanites can grade their own gemstone but that beats the purpose of proper grading.
      A diamond is different. It is graded by the GIA - which is a globally accepted Institute.

      @@8055lgThere's really no such thing as a certification. It's a grading agency. The certificate is of what the agency grades it as. Certs don't really matter as long as the stone is really, color looks good and inclusions are minimal. GRA does grade EF and sometimes H stones as D which isn't cool. EF colors would be fine since the eye can't tell the difference but an H color you can see the white color of the stone. I've had some moissanite that is more white than colorless. Got me a solid source now though.

  • @brendajohnson1281
    @brendajohnson1281 9 месяцев назад

    Your assessment of GRA was extremely helpful. However, you are wrong about "everything goes up over time."
    Moissanite and lab grown diamonds have actually declined dramatically over time, because unlimited supply items do not retain value (both stones are lab created and so you can make more whenever you want, just like the fed printing money).
    Natural moissanite is extremely rare (found in meteors), so everything on the market is synthetic. When you truly have unlimited supply, no matter the demand, prices will decline until they reflect the actual cost of making them. Thus these are not investment types of stones. Natural diamonds are investment grade stones because they are truly rare (limited supply).
    That said, I absolutely love my Moissanite earrings and they are more brilliant (fire-y) than diamonds. And I often suggest to clients that no matter what they use for a center stone, that the place to save money is to change all the accent diamonds to higher quality and cheaper lab grown stones.

    But we all do needs certificate for selling those stones right? If they're unable to sell, then why should i buy it? I prefer Zirconia which is much way cheaper than moissanite. If that moissanite is only for your fancy apperance everyday, why don't use zirconia? I mean, it looks nearly the same on the outside, the difference is only located on the diamond tester and certificate. But why anyone needs stone with diamond tester passed? Are you going to a party with diamond person only, Or what? I still didn't get it why people buy moissanite if there're no proof of their value in the certificate.

    • @brendajohnson1281
      @brendajohnson1281 9 месяцев назад +1

      Certificates are not "proofs of value." They record the data about the stone at the moment the tester is performing the tests. Kind of like a house inspector when you are buying a home.
      Regarding CZ, as a synthetic stone that can be created whenever you need more, it's value reflects the current cost of making them. Eventually Moissanite prices will fall to reflect the cost of making them.
      Regarding CZ and Moissanite, if you had 1 of each stone in front of you (not identified), I truly doubt you would choose the CZ. CZ is pretty lackluster in comparison. These stones have different chemical make-ups that drive dramatic differences in physical properties.

    The lab created moissanite is beautiful but what is the point if it isn't real? There is real moissanite and it is very rare and available at real jewelers. If you want real then go to a brick and mortar jewler. The GRA thing I have says "GRA Created Moissanite" so they're admitting that it is lab created. It isn't worth much and I'm sure won't be worth much more in 10, 20, or 30 years but it is a stone with a lot of brilliance and very pretty. But who cares investment wise because it is usually lab created which to me means not real. Would I be mad if my soulmate got me a lab created moissanite ring. Yeah. Because I'm not going to give something like that to my son to give to his fiance and say "give her this fake diamond. It's not even real moissanite though." Come on. Invest a few hundred dollars more IF you think it will go the way of a diamond but most likely, it will go by the way of the other semi precious stones and just be another rock.

      When it comes to gemstones, "synthetic" does not mean fake, it just means that the gem was not created in nature, but was created in a laboratory. Laboratory jewels are as real as those extracted from a mine, since all their physical-chemical properties are exactly the same.
      It is something like if we compare a human being engendered by its parents naturally with another human being obtained by cloning or in vitro laboratory techniques, in the end both are 100% real humans, only that they came to exist in different ways.
