    Maybe as a tip, at some point get a trade route with all the materials to build stuff and let that one just go around all islands, so at some point when you want to build stuff again you got some instock and at the end just end it to sell the excess. so dont get clogged up like with the beef. that would be my tip.

    Thank you so much for showing us how to fix my trade routes! I'm one of those that would rather sell than dump overboard, but I see the value now, so I'll be making that change going forward. At the beginning when you're strapped for cash, it might make a difference but now, I'll just dump it. Also, when I started, I always set a minimum stock but I guess over time, I just forgot-old age (the 33 was because I probably got lazy and just used the slider). One thing for sure I'm going to do going forward is picking up everything and dumping off everything and not worrying about choosing which cargo slots. Logically, you can't drop off what can't be held so it makes sense to do that. Logic escaped me there I guess. The reason I have such a mess of trade routes too, is I've changed tactics over time trying to find the best way. Trying to pick up all for one production chain, or picking up one item, or picking up from only one island. I used to have a lot of charter routes too, and thought - lets just combine those. Well that didn't work HA. (still wondering why I'm selling cognac when my investors will be pretty mad about that) I also use docklands to trade off a lot of excess on my main island, but fully plan to get all production off of there....eventually. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
    I can't thank you enough for your help. I would never have gotten to this point without Taka videos. I've only been playing since January of this year, so I'm still pretty new (I talk a lot so it just seems like a year HA), but without these videos I would have quit long ago. Thank you Taka!

    Minimum stock??! WOW! That's a mind-blower! So that canned food route was picking up all the excess from production islands, then dropping off as much as each following island needed...based on minimum stocks...and then all the excess goes to an ai trader. That's cool.
    You need to start a new series, or like indicate when it is a Fix-it series, like when Biffa does "Fixing traffic in City Skylines"...but you, for Anno. This is ACE!

      It's not so much about money at that point, but it is useful for a long time until then. Now it's just a way of removing excess cargo without dumping it.

    Regarding trade routes, I tried several times to make realistic trade routes. But it always went horrible and when u increase your population you will need more goods to be transfered and then it can get a bit tricky if u want to have strategy like "one ship to supply one island".
    I always goes high on scholars so I have insane amount of research points so all of my trade ships are Great Easterns and have best items so I dont really care (they are super fast). - I am not sure if my strategy will work with worse ships without items.
    In my latest game I dediced to get 1trade route for 1 goods (within region). And I use ships as warehouses. So when there is new need for certain goods, I just check if production is enough and if it is, I add that island on trade route (ships movement speed is insane, and time to get to any island is basicly insignificant).
    I always overproduce everything by 10-20% (depends how important it is and if I will have to increase production in the future due to expanding). So in best situation all islands which requires specific goods, will be at maximum capacity, production island will be at maximum capacity and ship will also be at maximum capacity.
    Same goes for contruction material - I have "concrete trade route" "bricks trade route" etc. Their trade path is to visit all islands within region. So every island should be at maximum capacity.

    Wait, how exactly does the ship fill up with citrus completely? I thought the slots in the trade route menu each always corresponded to one of the slots in the ship. In this case only the last 2 slots would be filled with citrus. So how did the ship fill up 3 other slots as well? In my 300 hours of Anno i have never seen that rule being broken without something else actually having been the issue (like left-over cargo from before i changed something with the trade route). Is there something i am missing?

    • @TakaYouTube
      @TakaYouTube 2 месяца назад +1

      Spillover occurs when using the same slot for load/unload of different types of goods on a route. Since citrus isn't getting unloaded and something else needs it place, that resource gets moved to another slot and then unloaded, but the citrus gets picked up and spills over too. Eventually, the cargo hold fills up and the trade route will break down.

      @@TakaRUclips Ah ok thx, I usually always use 1 slot for 1 item and then just make more trade routes, if i need more space. So it makes sense that this never really happened to me. I just prefer it when its more organized instead of efficient, since it especially makes trouble shooting easier. I tend to make a lot of small mistakes and in Anno it can take sometimes take hours for a simple mistake to take effect. So its nice to be able to just quickly check everything.

    I see the value of dumping/reloading all cargo but doesn't that increase loading times -> trade-round-trip time ? Not that it really matters just out of curiosity ? :)

    Quick question: How do you fill multiple slots with the same good to load/unload? I always fill up each slot one after the other and just saw you magically fill everything with biscuits!

    I am speaking generally now: you can min-max the shit out of your trade routes. But I believe that she unnecessarily overcomplicated them. Is it worth the hassle? I mean the game is complicated enough, and having to waste even more time to micromanage the amout of resources you need to transport somewhere... then you upgrade houses and that number changes again.
    Don't overcomplicate your routes guys. 1 or maybe 2 items per ship, and always dump the excess. Also the best thing would be for the ship to go from A to B... if you need a C location just get another ship. Yes this means even more trade routes, but they are simple. If they get fucked up its easily fixable. If your complicated route gets screwed up, good luck cleaning the mess.
    My 2 cents on the topic.

    I made my first one in a playthrough left it and about 15 minutrs later i checked on the trade route screen and i had about 50 of them.
    I only created 1 of them.

    I have two ships on a route and they have 8 slots together. Now i put 6 different things to load / unload per slot why does it say not enough space on ships?

    • @TakaYouTube
      @TakaYouTube 2 месяца назад +1

      You mean each ship has 8 slots or each ship has 4 slots and 8 total between them? Routes don't work by combining cargo holds... each ship is independent on the route, so the available cargo space on the ship and the amount of cargo slots used on the route manager has to match.

    • @TakaYouTube

      Yeah like I said... not how that works. You would need a Great Eastern or big airship with 8 slots to do that. Route cargo slots can only handle as much as 1 ship has available space.

    • @TakaYouTube
      @TakaYouTube 2 месяца назад

      But it's all you need... I even rounded up on it. It only needed 3 tons per minute on consumption and the turnaround was 10 minutes. You could go to 40 or 50 if you wanted to just to be safe but as long as you are slightly overestimating then it's fine!
