Apparently, it is believed that the person who sold FCG to Dancer, the unknown, "D" is this robot, which tells me, Sam's reaction of "I would die for this creature" the inspiration for FCG- in more ways than one~

In c3 sam plays as a automaton named fresh cut grass right? its obvious that the story for him is that as a automaton he is capable of having human like mental truma like ptsd despite claiming it not possible as a not "soul touch" creature. I realised in this scene that "Charlie" seems to glitch out after he sees his injured body. Much like how fresh cut grass glitches out when he tries to recall things related to his ptsd. Also based on the only knowledge i know of the lore about automatons, this aeoran bot is very sentiant just like fresh cut grass. So maybe that's where his origins lay with his own sentieance. I dunno if its coincidence or or not but i just found it a interesting thing i noticed while trying to recall a favorable character i liked.
(MAJOR SPOILERS AROUND E138) And then they decided to just let him go without really explaining the stakes of anything... Hell, the fucking WORLD is presumably just going to end if they fail, but they didn't really even try to convince him that it should stay to maybe help them and then in return, gee I don't know, further find more things to scavenge, etc. This was a major let down to just see him vanish without ever really gaining any knowledge about him. I feel like this could have been a really interesting NPC if they convinced him to stay and help. I was on the edge of my seat when Matt first starting teasing this out but then he just kinda disappeared with no real information gained. Overall though, this is only a minor gripe about the recent episodes, these recent ep's have been some of the best Critical Role we've ever seen, and who knows, maybe he does come back at some point? (Don't come bashing this comment if that does happen eventually, this was written around E138.)
