@@AndrewVOdom I know this much. In '86 (the last time the Mets won the World Series), they had one HELLUVA lot of rooters among Yankee fans. I guess the whole town went crazy, even the Bronx, which is the Yankees' true home turf. I read an account in a baseball yearbook saying that the Mets siphoned off all but the most diehard Yankee fans. What can I say-NYC demands a winner! Just like in the NFL, I'm sure that when the Giants win the Super Bowl (may well happen this season), they draw a lot of Jets fans.
@@AndrewVOdom One other thing. In 2000 (the last time there was an all-NY World Series), I read in USA Today, that the more people in Queens (the Mets' home borough) were Yankee fans than Met fans. I know I said one more thing, but this just occurred to me. The Mets' color scheme (blue and orange) is a tribute to the 2 NL teams that used to play there-blue for the (Brooklyn) Dodgers and orange for the Giants.
Imagine listening to two songs in a row on the radio without ANY interruption whatsoever, or a DJ not having to compromise his integrity by shoving adverts down your throat every other minute.
Imagine listening to a radio station today with real disc jockeys, unique playlists, and ads that pertain to your local area and community. Miss those days.
Thank you! Dan Ingram was great, indeed much simpler times, and nice WS updates, fascinating to hear this knowing I was still being “formed” born April 65’!
Best DJ ever - funny, clever and obviously loved what he was doing.
He was the best. He did what djs needed to master. He moved quick and was full of surprises.
Listening to Dan Ingram is magical. Cracks me up every single time.
I Grew Up with WABC 77 Radio & Dan Ingram!!! These radio stations were a BIG Part of my Upbringing!!!!
One of the great jocks of all time.
THE greatest!
“ That was the Funkle Brothers,Simon and Gar…” Dan Ingram was the absolute best!!
Best there ever was, pinnacle of AM radio as an art form. Thanks so much for posting this and taking me back, reliving it in awe and ecstacy!
Love this radio time capsule of life in NY as a kid listening to this great stuff!
Absolutely one of the best!
I remember when this station was wjz. It was a long time ago.
Station break was "NY's 1st station, WJZ & WJZ FM NY"
He was fun to listen to-I was listening to WABC in those days.
Great 👍
He was the GOAT.
4:40 so Dan was pulling for the Cardinals in the World Series....hearkening back to his days at WIL in St. Louis.
Rooting against the Yankees in NYC, uh, not the best idea.
1/2 of NY was/ is an NL town and decidedly not Yankee fans--& I say that as a long-time Yankee fan..
