Judge Judy used an interesting legal term when the defendant mentioned that he had a contract, she said it was usurious. It means to lend money or finance something at unreasonable rates. The defendant is a scammer and just learned the hard way that you can’t use a court to enforce an illegal contract.

Hearing is subjective thing, and hearing loss covers wide spectrum of factors, like distance, pitch/depth of voice, the way room echoes. Hearing losses are various, some people lose hearing sensitivity to higher pitch, others to deeper. I grow up tired to explain people why I don't have a problem in some circumstances and in other I have, there's plenty of reasons. I always had a hard time to understand men with deep voices, because my hearing loss is mostly in deeper sounds, but people are confused, because those men are usually louder then for example some high pitched women.

Now I don't know exactly how Judy determines if a contract is usurious or not, but the KBB value was $800 something and he was selling the car for $1200 or $2500 if you wanted to make payments. Charging an extra $1300 for payments (2500 instead of $1200) I totally respect Judge Judy's opinion for thinking that is usurious and not honoring it. Theres also the fact that he took the car back... can't take back the item you sold then expect the buyer to continue making payments for it until it's paid in full. It doesn't work like that.
