Now although I'm not using the Sheleeart bloom pouring medium in this, my style has changed and evolved dramatically since I took the course from the knowledge I gained from it. Canvas used today is a 12 x 24''
Colours:
Base paint is a mistint from my local hardware store in beige mixed with Derivan Polymer Gloss Varnish and water (consistency is no trace when drizzled into a cup)
Pebeo Iridescent Copper
Amsterdam Azo Orange
Decoart 24K Gold
All colours mixed with Floetrol and splash of water.
Swipe colour is Amsterdam Oxide Black and Floetrol
No silicone added to any of my paints.

Beautiful! Can you say approximately how much varnish you put in the base coat?
Thank you! Approximately 50 - 100ml to 700ml of paint and around 50ml of water. Sorry I can't be exact as I'm one of these people who doesn't measure! 😁

I do love your work Niki, I am new to this form of art, have done some pieces that I am not happy with but others say not to paint over them. I have a question that I would love to know how you keep your canvas anchored to your lazy Susan, it makes an interesting mess when the canvas decides to slide off!!!!
Thank you very much Gloria! 😀 ❤️ I have a silicone mat on top of my glass lazy susan which stops the canvas sliding. If too much paint gets on it it will still slide though, so scrape off the residue on it during painting to prevent this

The largest i can find is 50cm...would that be adequate.....Thanking you....
Hi Christopher, yes mine is 50cm (20') in diameter. For bigger canvases I place an old larger square canvas upside down on top, to make a larger stable base 🙂

This is such a beautiful painting. How do you keep your canvas from sliding off when you spin it?
Thank you very much Kathleen 😊💜 I've found only the smaller canvases fly off lol! My lazy susan is 20" in diameter so good for large canvases. Some people put a couple of dots of paint on the spinner to secure it
Would you mind clarifying floetrol? American or US, please?

Gobsmacking gorgeous yet again. But I'm intrigued by your notes at the start, you have your base/pillow thinner than your colours? Did I hear right? Most people say thicker to thinnest bottom to top. Why do you do yours different?

I just experimented with a thinner base as it's easier on larger canvases I think, and it works well 🙂

Yes I'll film one next time I mix up some paint and add it to my next video 😁 In my last few I was experimenting adding a gloss polymer varnish (Derivan Matisse) around 50 - 100ml to around 700ml of paint and approx 50ml of water. My thinking was of the base was shiny with the gloss varnish addition the colours might skim across the top and form lacing. It seems to work! 😊
