Although using the mirrors for driving is extremely important, you will appreciate that side door window. I have to use mine when you are on a side road that's off to a slant & you can not see traffic coming on your right side. I use my side window all of the time for that on my van. On my motorhome, I absolutely can not see what's coming & it's scary! Love all those windows!!
Thank you!! It's amazing how much I use that window now that I have it. And the back windows when backing up off of a street. They've made such a huge difference. And of course it does make it look less like a cargo van!!!
I’m with you on deep cleaning under that mat. No telling what has rolled under there through the years. AND that looks like some space that could be better used.
Kym, those windows look so, so good on the van!!! Under the floor dilemma, yeesh! I would do the same thing you are planning with the flooring. Maybe also cover those openings so that nothing can "get lost" inside, or make them storage cubbies. Your "girl is getting new glasses.". too funny!😆😅😆😅😆😅
I'll be getting the flooring done in November. Can't wait. I may pull it up this weekend and really clean the floor. I can't even imagine what is under there. Under where? I just made you say underwear. (sorry, a joke my kid did to me all the time he was growing up.) Anyway, thanks!!!
In my connect those holes don’t go back very far. Like only 10 or twelve inches. They are the footwell area for when there are back seats in the van. Further back is solid raised floor that clears the gas tank, back axles etc. Lots of people open them up and put their batteries and electrical system under there.
I SAW THAT. Just the other day on a Transit Connect FB group, someone showed the floor. I hope I have that cubby hole. It'll be a perfect place to put my batteries!!!
Oh yea I just remembered when you were talking about a fan that would allow clearance for the garage. Maxxair has some dome fans that are smaller and circular. I have seen someone install 2 in different areas in their smaller rigs. I can't remember the video 🤦🏾♀️, I watch so many, lol.
I'm going to check it out! I'm always looking for good fan options. I think I found one. It's 10" in height when open, so hopefully it'll work! Can't imagine cutting a hole in my roof!
Those windows rock! Love, love, love them. Really alters and improves the look of the van both inside and outside. I don’t use the windows along the passenger side of my bus to change lanes or for anything while driving. The beauty of them is the spectacular views when I’m parked. You’re going to love them! Regarding the floor, I’d definitely pull up that rubber flooring, deep clean, insulate and either reinstall or replace with something else. Keep in mind if you don’t reuse that floor, it makes a perfect template for whatever you do use! I’d think twice about removing or covering up those tie down rings in the floor. They are great for securing many many things you put into the van. I regret removing things like that from the bus and wish I hadn’t… anyway, you’re doing good and, as always, entertaining the ever lovin’ heck out of me!
Oh thank you! Great advice. I'll try to leave the rings in the floor. I'm heading out soon and I have someone helping me, so my floors should be done before the DEC meetup. Can't wait!!! I can't imagine what disgusting stuff is under that rubber flooring. And so far, I love the windows. Best addition that I have made!!!
Windows look great!! I would remove the black plastic surrounding the inside wheel wells for more space for shelving and additional insulation. The mat can be used as a template after removal.

I thought you were getting windows that open! I have a Transit passenger van and I couldn’t wait to get windows that open after my first summer trip. Good luck with your flooring!
Oh the windows look great!! The horror of under the floor … I’d put a bomb off in there, when you don’t need to be in there for a day or 2. Just to take care of anything that may still be lurking under there. It can be a vicious circle, mice come in for bugs, snakes come in for mice, and on and on….eek! @@OutonaLimbwithKym sorry! Mice probably come in for food more than bugs, but I’d do some pest control now before you get too far. Sorry!! I hate bugs & critters like you do! Love ya!!!! 🥰💕
Windows look fab. Big change much more light inside... Hmm big decisions with the floor. Can you pull it up carefully, so it can be replaced if nessary? I guess taken out, youll have more height inside? Even with a frame and insulation.
I think the floor will come up fairly easy. I'm so nervous about starting the project. I think I better have the replacement all ready to install when I do rip it out. I don't want to go without a floor. Thinking of what kind of laminate wood flooring to put down! I think I'll get a few inches in height out of it!

Windows look GREAT!!! Even better that they didn't leak. It makes total sense, but I didn't realize the side window wouldn't open. All along I was thinking you would get air in through it. Thinking about the floor. Is a spare tire under there? What is that vent-lookig thing on the passenger side toward the back? 😊
The spare tire is actually underneath the car - outside. What a great place to store it!!! And the vent thing is really useless. I'm not sure why it's there. I took off the right one and it's just an access point to the brake lights. I took the left vent off and there was a jack in there and just free space.

Love the windows! Huge upgrade and they look awesome. Good timing of the rain too so you could check for leaks. As for the flooring, I think it'll save a whole lot of headache to just cover it like you said. Just a question-it looks like there's some space in those cut outs under the flooring. Could they be used for storage? Do the layout specs have any dimensions of what's exactly underneath?
Yes. Actually, I have been watching quite a few videos and found out that there are access panels on the flooring. Some put their batteries there. I've decided to pull the floor up in a few weeks. I've been researching and I think I can do it myself. Just need to figure out how to cut the plywood!!!
You crack me up. One question Kim can you stand up in the van and if so how tall are you? I have thought about a connect but I am 5' 8" mot sure about what type roof I would need to stand up.
I'm 5'3" and I can't stand fully up, but I can bend over a little bit and still move around. It's a lot better than the SUV. I'll be able to change my clothes, which is going to be awesome. No more putting clothes on while in bed!
