I'm wondering if the tech RUclipsrs have been paid for the recent reviews of the EF-12 (edit, they got them for free...), they all seem glowingly positive, same with a bunch of Vine reviews on Amazon off the back off free products. So I bought this projector after watching all the reviews but I wasn't super impressed and shall be returning it - why? It's way overpriced. The image quality is okay, but not "wow" and the contrast is mediocre. Along with blown highlights, no shadow detail and poor brightness. The HDR is inconsequential. There's also noticeable lag when gaming. For the asking price this thing should of been brighter (even a few hundred lumens more), better conectivity such as usb 2.0, ethernet and perhaps even native 4K resolution. Even though I paid like 899.99 which was a "sale" price, this thing is still overpriced. They couldn't even get Netflix certified for it. I may pick it up again if the price drops to like 600, because I do like the build/look, laser tech and portability of it. But for now I'll give it a miss. Xiaomi have bought out a global version of their mi projector pro 2 - more lumens, better connectivity, dual 10 watt speaker AND Netflix certification, that can be had for around 650.

I purchased this item based on this review. Most of what he said is accurate, but I have to add my truth. When you’re accustomed to a bright high definition regular sized epson projector, this projector is lacking big time. For the price, this picture should be so much brighter. The sound is beautiful, but the low lumens makes this purchase not worth the cost. It’s a $350 type picture. The main thing I love about this projector is that resembles furniture and is small in size, but I would give this projector to my kids. Very dull picture.

You have to buy a mounting plate. I bought it from B&H Photo Video for $10, and then using a standard camera tripod. The projector is only 2.7 lbs so make sure it can hold that weight. I am using a cheap Targus TG-5060TR stand I bought from goodwill for $5, and it works perfectly.

Its crazy that you are reviewing this. I know you're tech guy, its just ice been looking into projectors. I don't wanna spend this much but I have been into Vankyo brand. Not the greatest our there but for movie night, it does the job. I have the leisure 510 now and just ordered the v630w. Anyway. Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll update to a more expensive projector later

How have you been liking your Vankyo v630w. I’ve loved my 620 and I’ve been looking to upgrade to a higher quality projector.

It's great for money. I have since upgraded to the ex7240 epson. Lost features from the vankyo but its brighter. We still have the v630, in the kids living area.

@@Aleejandro_Gomez The epson ex 7240 isn’t even full 1080p though. Does it look better than the vankyo simply because it’s just higher quality?

@@Shane101A I think it's brighter, especially with lights on. We don't use a TV in the living room. The vankyo is great in the evenings or at night but with the led lights in the kitchen or dining room on. The picture suffers.
