I heard this when I was 17 years and for years after that. I'm 32 now and still revisit this track from time to time just to feel the growth I have made. peace to anyone out there still bumping this.
Same bro. I heard this when I was 17 and I was really dumb and on the path to prison. Unfortunately, I dropped out of school too right after almost getting killed by a cop over something dumb. However, this music really made me look at who I was and what I wanted from life. Believe or not but I'm a surfer out in Florida now with my own business and if you looked at the music I listen to you would never believe that I'm from the hood in Oklahoma City... It's crazy how life can change! I'm 30 years old now. edit: I also play the Ukulele and guitar lmao
This song has gotten me through some very tough times in my life. I’ve tried to take my own life before. I survived. At the time I was upset that I survived. But after that I found this song and it motivated me to muster up the will to keep moving and keep going. And I’m glad I did. After so much heartbreak and losses, I managed to muster up some happiness and I survived off of that little hope I had left and it went a long way. Thank you, Cise Starr.
that's an incredible story. im glad you have come to these conclusions. i grew up through life with this song and it constantly helped me too. unfortunately i still battle with alcoholism like i am right now but i come back to this track periodically. its such a beautiful song. but in life i hope i overcome just as you have and currently are. stay up my brother and keep doing good and better,
Treat you how I treat myself, yeah I know the golden rule If I treat myself like shit/what am I to do to you Years later, and this line hits so much differently now that I can look at my past actions with a bit more clarity
To look back and see the errors of your ways is a major step in progress. Don't stop growing and don't stop taking responsibility for your actions even when they're a little off. I wish you the best brother.
I repent my past actions too, and my hatred for myself runs very deep. It’s taken many years of self inflicted punishment to learn that there are only two options: keep on bringing yourself down and staying in this cycle for life, or to form a purpose from the pain and the guilt to eventually make something great of your life; something even greater than otherwise “what could’ve been” had you not made those mistakes.
Samreena Syed there are actually two wordsmiths in CYNE. Two producers too, that's why CYNE is so dope. Just dropping a little knowledge on my way through not trying to dog anyone. P.S. if you haven't heard feather (Nujabes & CYNE) I'd also recommend that. Such a good song. {Rest in beats Jun Seba}
Witnessing old school chill/hiphop as it was supposed to have transversed through time That's why it's classified as underground because it's hard to find true sounds like this....you just happen to stumble upon it
this is the beauty of underground my brotha. rappers like these are the unheard sound that just makes you bob your head and vibe. mainstream people who listen to mainstream bull shit will never see the beauty in this
Never like poetry and hip hop . Then this dude and artist like nujabes changed my life like 10 years ago and I still can't believe it. Also I feel like these lyrics can touch part of my soul that'd been hurt.
probably the most inteligent artist i have ever heard. he is absolutely incredible, my jaw just drops everytime i hear cise. i have never had music make me reconsider my life and my reality so much, his music has literaly changed my life
"Treat you like i treat myself/ Yeah I know the Golden Rule/ But If I treat myself like shit/ what am I to do to you/" BEST LINES EVER. I believe that this is the reason why people act so harshly to each other. As a high schooler, I see this occur all the time. People making bad decisions and then acting cruely towards others. If we learn to be good to ourselves then we will be able to progress towards being good to others. Cise starr is one of the greatest artist I've ever heard.
"Life is ugly so is death handsome?" No, death is not. A family member passed away today. Life can feel misrable at times and like you've truly hit rock bottom but when you're at your lowest, the only place to go is up. Life is so fragile and although I'm sure no one is reading this just really make sure to appreciate your loved ones while you still have them. Here today and gone tomorrow. It doesn't make sense how fast things can change and you can get sucked out of your normal living routine. Don't let the pain of life block you from enjoying it's beauties.
This song shows how the “golden rule” isn’t exact enough to match Jesus’ words. “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” is a command to love others and to love self too equally it’s a command not easy necessarily
Just saw Cise Starr last night. Hes an amazing lyricist but more over such a wise person because these songs wouldnt be here without his soul in each beat.
Thanks to God, I’m right here to listen to this music. That’s sincerely amazing who hip-hop can change the Life. Infinitely grateful to live this passion.
I really have never thought of this until Cise Star pointed it out "We search space looking for life But can't even help the lives of those that's hurting right here" Truest shit i have heard in a long time.
Cise star is amazing this is one of those songs you can listen to 500 times and bot be tired of it. If you are a big cise fan then you should check out Lupe fiasco like cise star Lupe fiascos verses are complex which makes it true hip hop, I love both Lupe and cise star. Amazing Emcees!!
just found cyne a couple months ago. the word amazing isnt good enough to describe this. everytime i listen i feel like im on another plane of existence
To all you guys who have listened to this song. You guys are awesome. I'm glad to know that their is other people in the world who have the same feelings toward what real hip hop is. This stuff should never play on the radio, it's to real, to much emotion. It's more than just a song....
Cise calls out a fallacy, of life being ugly. This could allude to Nas' “Life’s a B*tch”, even though it’s a common term. He exploits the fallacy of ugly life since death isn’t too handsome. It’s death. Anyhow, he notes earlier how pain and self-denial pollute the enjoyment of life.
ive always lovedd this song because its powerful deep soulful and real chill, this is the type of song u listen to when ur mad and ur chillin out, this shxt is dope:D
i listen to mainstream, but i appreciate this shit just as much as you if not more. its people like you who will never see the beauty in all forms of music, wether its mainstream hiphop, jazz or heavy metal rock.
I heard this when I was 17 years and for years after that. I'm 32 now and still revisit this track from time to time just to feel the growth I have made. peace to anyone out there still bumping this.
Peace 🙏🏽 Uploaded this when I was 15, and I’m 30 now. Still resonates 🧡

Bro me too minus a few years
heard this when i was 21 in university after my Syrian friend introduced me to Nujabes and Cise Star. I'm now 32 and still bump it from time to time.

I love how philosophical Cise's tracks are.
I just discovered this song today ❤
This is one of those songs I come to when I need to wind down from a long day.
Words are beautiful when they're organized like this.
Much needed.
So much knowledge in one song. Cise Star, one of the best to ever touch the mic.
Man…coming back to this..this song hits hard… The artist spoke from the heart and I relate to this song a lot. Such an underrated song.

He is absolutely amazing, the lyrics give me chills down to my core. He is a true poet and philosopher.

Curtis Gill He doesn’t spit fire, he spits the truth! ✊
Song reminds me it's okay to be alone. Developing yourself is the utmost priority.
we search space looking for life but cant even help the lives of those hurting right here
damn
There isn't a single throwaway verse here. It's simply all poetic waxing on the hipocracy of life on earth...
Listening to this thinking about the good people in Hawaii after those fire. Your in our thoughts and prayers 🙏🏽
The strong will survive.
Not the strong in the arm but the strong of the mind...

Wait, what happened to it?
I love the fact that each song he made somehow related to one another. like he's continuing his story in each song...
Witnessing old school chill/hiphop as it was supposed to have transversed through time
That's why it's classified as underground because it's hard to find true sounds like this....you just happen to stumble upon it

"Life is ugly so is death handsome?"

Man cise star is easily one of my favorite rappers.
Too bad Nujabes passed away. I would love Cise Star collab with him more
we all do
nujabes didnt produce this it was DJ sharpsound
Nujabes was more famous and more talented imo. He worked with him a lot and it worked so well.
shaytan khan I was just generalizing. This song happens to remind me of Nujabes's work with Cise Star way back.
Was it cider star in lady brown that rapped the whole thing? What about feather? Thanks if u can answer
This song shows how the “golden rule” isn’t exact enough to match Jesus’ words. “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” is a command to love others and to love self too equally it’s a command not easy necessarily
I guess it's settled then
This guy is like the Book of Eli of rap. Love the badass lyrics
Just saw Cise Starr last night. Hes an amazing lyricist but more over such a wise person because these songs wouldnt be here without his soul in each beat.
One of the best hip hop lines out there.
So much honesty in that line.
Its just too good and rare to have a billion views, a diamond and gold are always hidden in the earth.
I do not know how people can honestly not appreciate this music.
Thanks to God, I’m right here to listen to this music.
That’s sincerely amazing who hip-hop can change the Life.

Edin Estrada Same here. It’s such a shame solo Cise songs like this and Crush on You were never released on streaming platforms.
Self-reflection. Reflection of individual, group, and system.

Damn his flow is so smooth, an essence of hip-hop. Cise Star for life!
In case anyone was wondering:
The sample is from Vinicius de Moraes - Poema dos Olhos da Amada.
Doesn't get any better than this.

This is a beautiful example of how geniuses endure the pain of a gift and a curse
Indeed brotha, same journey has been taken here. I wonder how many people share the same story, and how many people still need to find it
Still here 💙💙
Beautiful
Who’s still listening to this in 2024?
This track is dope. Got it off a mixtape, hip hop like this transcends time. Raw heat
This really hits me, really strong lyrics. "Adrift like my relationship with others"
This is the anthem of my life.
Most slept on hip hop artist every.
I could quote the whole music. It's so great.
life is ugly so is death handsome ?
Cise calls out a fallacy, of life being ugly. This could allude to Nas' “Life’s a B*tch”, even though it’s a common term. He exploits the fallacy of ugly life since death isn’t too handsome. It’s death. Anyhow, he notes earlier how pain and self-denial pollute the enjoyment of life.
