I'm thinking you are correct and they were on the phone or they were one of those reckless drivers that will drive on the shoulder to get around slower vehicles, which I have seen several times going up that Road
I don't think that truck driver was pulled over on the side of the road when hit, that car is way too intact to cause that much movement of a loaded trailer if parked.
That stretch actually used to be a lot worse...but on the Eastbound side. About 600-feet down the road begins the last big corner the highway takes before it exits the mountains. Big trucks would often lose their brakes and couldn't make that corner and they'd take out surrounding cars and they'd all go down the embankment in massive crashes I can remember hearing about some really big accidents in the 70's and 80's. CDOT eventually put up a big cement wall to at least keep the crashes on the road (in the 90's I think) For the westbound traffic that's the location where the incline increases and a lot of people find out that their vehicles won't go nearly as fast -- but other more powerful vehicles can still go fast and their drivers get impatient. That mix of slow and fast vehicles is often a recipe for disaster.
You’re not very aware of many of the accident around the country. This is very common. I see it’s caused by both but if your being only fed accident caused by truck drivers that’s probably an algorithm your stuck in on RUclips.
@@Bigpopp1 On that very hilly stretch of road between Denver and Avon it's usually the truckers. From failing to put chains on to letting it get out of control downhill. The bad ones are almost always the truck's fault. But like I said, not this time.
I am curious what color matters? Doesn’t matter what the idiot driver is because they drive many different vehicles and come in all shades. No need to make everything including accident about race.
People don’t pay attention no more. Trust me I know I drive for a living. Everybody’s in a damn hurry. Sorry
Looks like the vehicle rear-ended the parked semi fuel truck at highway speed. Wonder if the vehicle driver was on his/her phone....?

Boy they couldn't pay me enough to be a petroleum truck driver nowadays with the way people drive around them flammable tankers
Sad.😢

It's confirmed the truck was stopped on the shoulder
😢

For once, it's doesn't look like the trucker's fault.
