Wow 🤨 total Karens indeed. The employees at that Barnes and Walmart were totally off. I've never heard of this or even saw anyone who films while book shopping being told not to film which is strangely odd because it does help with promoting books thanks to tiktok, youtube, along with other social media platforms.

The guy at Barnes was incorrect. It is a public business. You are allowed to film anywhere in public. The only time you have to request to film in a public place is in federal buildings and hospitals. That Barnes guy was a prick.
Stores are IN the public space, but the store itself is private property, and they can enforce no-filming rules if they want to. Idk if it's standard B&N policy or not, but it could very well be the preference of the person who runs that particular store. Or maybe that employee was new and was told about this rule and still very eager to follow the rules, even though other employees don't care about filming. However, even in public spaces there are still rules and privacy laws to think of when filming. Most people don't care, and it's almost impossible to enforce with how much gets filmed and posted and shared, but theoretically, you're not allowed to just film everything and everywhere just because it's in public. It's all quite complex, and you'd probably have to take it up with B&N to really get a conclusive answer.
I'm going to get into contact with their headquarters and find out. Or get whatever permission I need.
The author of The Therapist, BA Paris has a book called The Breakdown- highly recommended! My favorite of hers!

Nah sis definitely file a complaint with corporate I search all over Barnes and noble policies and guidelines and I don’t see anywhere that they prohibit filming. I would at the very least report him and ask for the policy with official issue date on it. Cause nah!

Alex you should try one of Kattee Robert Books!!!!! Her Dark Olympus series is so good! I haven’t read all of them I just pick the tropes/storylines i like so I only read half of them so I agree with your friend that hades one wasn’t perfect but the stories plot does interconnect and I’m obsessedddd I already finished the new one that came out in January and I can’t waitttt for the next one that’s coming out at the end of the year! Also that B&N were being Karen’s fr 😪😩

I just read my 1st B.A Paris book (The Guest). It was comparable to Sister Fredia but make it Brittish. A little slower paced and it had no language or sexual content. Would recommend.

I can kinda understand why they may not want you to film. I wouldn't be surprised if there are booktubers out there that are disrespectful when they film, also regular people may not want their faces on film and I've watched some booktubers who don't blur out faces or keep their cameras away from people. To be honest, I wouldn't want to be in someone's video unless I approved it. LOL I could be having a bad day and just look a mess, while out.
