- Brooke tells Ridge he has a lot of nerve to tell her what to do with her life. Jessica is destroyed when Ivana tells her the rose Dylan gave her was one Ivana gave to him and that Dylan is not interested in her at all. Sheila tells Eric he is welcome to divorce her if he is no longer happy with her. Eric embraces Sheila as she bursts into tears.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm thinking the Brooke of 1994 who acknowledges the toxicity of her relationship with Ridge and actively fights to move on with her life, is far more mature and self-assured than the Brooke of 2023. But then if Brooke remained mature and self-assured, what story would Brad Bell have left to tell? It's far easier to just let her "follow her heart".
Agree. She had a fleeting moment of some semblance of clarity here. But it would be hard for her to keep that same energy in the future and still bring drama lol.
Notwithstanding everyone's predictable whining about Brooke, this to me was actually a great episode. Finally three actual things happen after the non-happenings of the past several weeks. Brooke and Ridge start dancing their, admittedly crazy, but kinda entertaining psycho-tango, Sheila takes a different tack with Eric that elicits some emotion all round, and we even have a mini-catfight between Waspana and Bobblehead.

Ridge always interfering in Brookes life... after choosing Caroline and Taylor over her and rejecting her, she helped him over their deaths. But now, he should stay away and let her go on with her life...

She wanted Ridge, and sabotaged every other relationship, even with Ridge's own father who would have given her the world on a silver platter. So she has been making her own self miserable.

Kimberlin Brown's quietness really makes us listen. Far more than yelling or threats. She had such presence in this episode.
And Brooke telling Ridge about how it really was for her a lot of the time was so refreshing.

Then he pursued Brooke, Then he made love to Brooke in the lab after they discovered Belief and then kissed her by the pool when Taylor was in Scotland. how many signals and outright moves did he make on Brooke. STOP PUTTING the blame on Brooke along people. it takes two to tango.

Brooke has FINALLY recognised that this "relationship" between her and Ridge, has been more a case of unrequited love, than a tragic romance. And some of it is Ridge's doing. But A LOT of it is Brooke's fault by creating this imaginary life between her and Ridge and thus allowing the rejection time after time. She has no one to blame but herself for that one.

It only took her 7 years to realise that the romance between her and Ridge was always all in her head.
As I keep saying, Ridge may have had feelings for her, but when it came down to have to choose between Brooke and another woman, it has never been Brooke. While Brooke has always chosen to dump any other man who actually loved her for the possibility of getting a scrap of Ridge's affection. And that is nobody else's fault, but hers.
Even Ridge's words sound to me like he was with Brooke for a good time, not a long time.
Anyway, now that he is truly single and have no other options, he will take on Brooke telling him that James loves her more than he ever did, as a new challenge, to win Brooke over James.

so Ridge gave heartache to Brooke for 7 long years? I can understand the first year after their 1st engagement , even though she was the one who did the pursuing. Then after she married Eric? I can understand the heartache after he married Taylor...but then? She was the one in denial even though he repeatedly told her he wont leave Taylor.
Exactly. Ridge was moving on with his life. He was married twice. Brooke's heartache was largely self-inflicted because she kept expecting him to leave his wife and he never did.
I don't agree...brooke wasn't in denial in fact Ridge had to decide again whether to stay with Taylor or leave her for Brooke after almost a year of marriage!!! It is clear that Ridge was also in love with Brooke while he was with Taylor, she knew it herself!!!

Bradley Bell stated it also in 2013 in his TV Guide interview that Brooke is the love of Ridge's life. Taylor said I and I quote: "how I am supposed to explain to my children that his grandmother wishes she never came between his father and the woman that he really loves." yes, that was Brooke, Taylor finally accepted what she always knew was the truth and so should you. That's the most honest conversation Brooke ever had with Ridge. It takes two to tango, Ridge led Brooke on, then he proposed then he married Caroline...then he went back to Brooke had an affair with her when she was married to Eric, dumped for her Taylor, made out with her when Taylor was away. Mixed signals doesn't even begin to describe his behaviour. I wish every one would get off Brooke and start heaping half or even most of the blame where it belongs: on Ridge. It takes two to tango.
Ridge kinda seems to have forgotten that he did not just ask Brooke to marry him, but that he then chose Caroline over Brooke, later chose Taylor over Brooke when he again had told Brooke that he wants a future with Brooke (and had told Stephanie that he was planing to build a house for them), even chose to stay with Taylor when he learned about Brooke's pregnancy and when the paternity test stated that he is the father. *_Would he feel the same if he had been in that position and Caroline twice had married someone else - the good times always just outweigh the bad ones?_* 😅

This soap opera is odd in that there are things only the audience knows. Like it's 2023 and only viewers know that Taylor slept with Brooke's father.
It's just another item on the list of things that other characters think were Macy's fault although they were not in fact Macy's fault.

During Brooke's rant, she omitted a very important piece on her share of the blame. She shouldn't have married Eric. If it wasn't for that, she'll be married to Ridge right now.
Plenty things she shouldn't have done.. Hiding his letter from Caroline, moving in Ridge's bedroom without a commitment, marrying Ridge's father, allowing herself to be Ridge's good time girl, being delusional despite the fact that he has never chosen her ...

Ivana being only 18 years old really changes my perspective on this character. I always pictured her as being slightly older because she acts "experienced" and dates Thorne at one point. But she is just a kid really, not that much older than Jessica.
That makes her "high school mean girl" behavior towards Jessica here somewhat more understandable because Ivana is not actually all grown up (I teach kids - yes, kids - her age).
And knowing Ivana will still be a teenager by the time of her last storyline on the show makes it even darker (if possible).
ITA, it changes the perspective on Ivana. And it makes it a little bit weird that twice divorced Thorne would date such a young girl/woman.
(but the show later had another young girl falling for much older Thorne)

Ridge asked Brooke, "What has gotten into you?" As though there is something wrong with her. Well, technically, it took her 7 years to finally tell him how much hurt he caused her. Yes, Brooke made her choices, too. It was a great scene between the two of them. Actually, the best scene they ever had. It was intense, honest, and emotional. I think it was in this moment that he realized that she was no longer afraid to lose him and no longer cared about having a future with him. Of course, he later puts on a full court press to get her to marry him because he knows she will accept nothing less from him at this point. I love Bridge, but I do like it better when she has clarity and moves on with her life.

*SHEILA'S PERFORMANCE*
Sheila's offer of divorce to Eric isn't genuine. It's a gamble, a calculated risk to make him feel sorry for her, to produce exactly that reaction (Eric embracing her). I've mentioned before how Sheila is good at performing vulnerability when she needs sympathy or to get out of a jam. And here she does it knowing that Eric is attracted to vulnerability in women. This is a consistent character trait about Eric that he has voiced many times himself. And Sheila has exploited that trait before, like when they were dating and she talked about her past in a vague roundabout way that made her seem open and vulnerable and Eric was completely captivated by her. She's trying that tactic again now and it will work for a short while to get Eric back on her side and indeed Eric will even defend Sheila to Stephanie soon!
What's so clever about how Sheila does this is she doesn't actually feel what she is projecting to Eric but she does genuinely feel fear and paranoia (over the Garvin situation) and she's able to make that look like a softer feeling that Eric can respond to. In this way, Sheila's manipulation tactics are similar to the way an actor performs, specifically Method Acting where a real feeling or real memory is used by the actor to produce a felt performance.

Sheila the master strikes again🎳!! Eric was ready to keep treating her funny style, while remaining married, but Sheila switched up the game. I was impressed👏👏. Ridge aka The Human Waffle is in full on waffle mode....yes Taylor is "dead" (and he's technically single) but him telling Brooke not to marry James is classic Ridge....his harem is only allowed to pursue and be with him😂😂😂. He did the same controlling antics when she was with Connor. Brooke can never be free from him....I guess it's Destiny😂😂😂

Ridge is ignorant how often he has rejected Brooke and has hurt her - but Brooke is ignorant that Ridge has kinda made that clear cut and she should have moved on.
