Really informative! There is one thing I needed to address: the first "Criminal Minds" "interrogation" is not being seen in context. Two really important points that could completely change the perspective: - First, it's not actually an "interrogation" at all (at least, not in the sense that they're trying to get a confession). It's an interview with an already-convicted serial killer on death row (his death is scheduled for, I think, the next day; he'd been on death row for years but this is the first time he's consented to be interviewed). They're not trying to get a confession; they're just trying to improve their own profiling knowledge by interviewing this guy shortly before his sentence is carried out. This also explains his complete disinterest in being seen as innocent. - Second, the context of the show is that Hotch (the larger agent who starts off by telling them to remove the handcuffs) is... not having a good week, and is emotionally not in the best place for this interview. He actively wants this to escalate into a fight.
Oh I really hope to see more collaborations with Chase Hughes to find out from series if the interrogation and profile skills shown are true and real. Love this
@@TheBehavioralArts As an untrained novice to the craft (me), the perception that an expert interrogator or mentalist could "read your mind" and detect deception is intimidating, too.
More of Chase on the channel please! You two have a great dynamic and it’s nice to see someone I consider an expert sitting in the learner position just like we are. Also, Chase could walk onto any crime show and fit right in. Always appreciate your videos Spidey! Thank you!
To be fair, that first scene from Criminal Minds isn't an interrogation, as such. It's actually a research interview. The guy is a sadist who gets off on menacing and then killing people. He has already been tried and convicted, but he has said he will now talk to the profilers and tell his story. The interview is taking place in a maximum security prison, which is why it's not an office setting.
Spidey, I love your energy all the time! Like even in Legal Bytes, you are the most expressive and energetic one. I just love watching you react to things. Hehehe

Hi here! This is from the Philippines. It is so nice to see both of you collaborate. I have followed Spidey first during this Depp-Heard trial. And then I come to know Mr. Hughes via the Behavior Panel videos where you were with 3 other experts, whom I also like a lot. I also caught that book with colored markers on the side (which I hope to buy, I don't know if it's available here in the Philippines). I believe it's about Psychological disorders. So, wow! Thanks for collaborating.
I loooove Criminal Minds. Watched it several times, some episodes quite often. Have all the Seasons on DVD at home. I am very glad you are analyzing it here. On TV you probably need to create situtations or make choices that are not exactly realistic or most advised (even if you know better), in order to create a better story or bring in more main characters like in the interrogation scene in the beginning. Like the number of interrogators, or the positioning of the table.
At 7:59 Spidey interrupts Chase. Chase has his lips pursed! 🤨Lips which are pulled inwards from all directions are an indication of tension and may indicate frustration or disapproval.
I've only just started watching your channel... I have an aspect or two of my life that I know this will apply to (child or two) 😏😆... I am now addicted!!!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!
Question - does the scenario with the initial Criminal Minds clip change if you take into account the interview was a pre-execution of a convicted serial killer?
Law Abiding Citizen is one of my favorite movies of all, I remember going to watch it on cinema with my mom cause we're huge fans of Gerard Butler and we were at the edge of our seats the whole time
Hey Spidey, I've had an interest in deception detection for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, there's no 'course' or courses I'm aware of to become a mentalist and so I've had to scrounge together whatever training and information I could get my hands on further inspired by the show Lie To Me. I've done training with Humintell, professional forensic statement analysis through Mark McClish and Peter Hyatt, and have watched countless body language videos. What I'm asking is, how do I get to where you are? At what point would someone be considered an expert? Thank you. Great videos by the way.
That all sounds awesome! Honestly there’s no benchmark for when someone can call themselves an expert. I myself am uncomfortable using the term myself. I think when you’ve put in enough hours into actually applying it you’ll know when you feel comfortable using the terms.
Fun Fact: both of these interrogations from Criminal Minds didn’t really work in the show either I’d love to see a reaction to one of the really well executed interrogations that actually get a confession or trick the suspect like s2e10 “Lessons Learned” which I think shows the whole team at their best with behavior analysis in real time. Also, it’s pretty much a full episode interrogation so lots to work with there!
I watched Criminal Minds maybe a couple of times in the first season, but it was too bloody for me. I watch every police procedural I can find, but the crime has to be completed before the story begins. Anywaaayyyy... I really appreciate all I've learned from both of you. Thanks!
Chase is ace lol. How am I so drawn in and so freaked at the same time, 😲 he's so good. I'd be out drinking coffee with him making childhood confessions...for no reason at all! "Well see when I was 5..." 😅
Hi Spidey, thanks for this cool stuff! I noticed, that you leaned quite to your left and sat on the left edge of your chair (at the beginning). Why? Were you intimidated? Other reasons? Thanks:-)
I catch almost nothing from people yet, even though binge watching Spidey and Behavior Panel, but I noticed the subtle "leaning away" through the whole video, It's like he respects Chase so much!
Really informative! There is one thing I needed to address: the first "Criminal Minds" "interrogation" is not being seen in context. Two really important points that could completely change the perspective:

Also, it’s pretty much a full episode interrogation so lots to work with there!
Y'all are amazing!!!! Thank you!!
Sunday ... margarita time ... and two of my favorite people on RUclips. It's a good day. ☺
I love your channel! Please keep the content coming! I need more 😆
I watched Criminal Minds maybe a couple of times in the first season, but it was too bloody for me. I watch every police procedural I can find, but the crime has to be completed before the story begins. Anywaaayyyy... I really appreciate all I've learned from both of you. Thanks!
7:12 when he made that ":D" face it was so cute
I did notice the red lights but i feel like I'm not tuned in . I'm dumb as a rock lol so I think I just got lucky with that 🤣
I can’t believe Tan Daddy did this while in the Bahamas. That’s dedication to the art! ❤️🤟🏻
Haha, loved this short and precise analysis!
Great video!!!! Finally something original
love ya guys, as always! thank you.
why dont you do a cool crimi show, like the Mindhunter tho'? :)
Crrrack! Chase GOD Hughes. Thanks for sharing this. I really enjoy it.
Spidey knows so much but still approaches the subject as a student, ready to learn more.
Omg great shirt Spidey! Yay chase again! 🐯
I need more of these! 😍
Chase is ace lol.
How am I so drawn in and so freaked at the same time, 😲 he's so good.
I'd be out drinking coffee with him making childhood confessions...for no reason at all! "Well see when I was 5..." 😅
I learn so much in your channel. Chase is cool. I watch the behavioral panel too. Very interesting.
great video and very interesting. Thanks to you, spidey and to chase hughes
Spidey, my husband has the same shirt as you! Love it.
I noticed the red lights when he walked in. I took it as Hollywood’s way of making it red like blood, and/or the devil walking in.
Just got the book! Thank you for the reference!
You just did yourself a huge favor!
My two favourite RUclipsrs. Together😍
I analyzed the body language here. Spidey is genuinely interested and invested in the subject. That's my ultra reliable expert's take on it
Love Chase and the BP crew!
Great seeing Chase
