so is strafe shooting the thing u did with the vandal, and deadzone the thing you did with the marshal? If so when do you deadzone when do u staffshoot ie multiple shots instead of just the 1
Specifically deadzoning is when you fire a single bullet 0.1 seconds after you change direction, without ever having a moment when you're not holding a movement key, so yeah Marshal and Sheriff will always be deadzone. Strafeshooting is a more general concept of burst strafing; never standing still unless firing.
If you stop, you never know if you have the timing perfected for "what's the smallest amount of time I can stand still before I'm accurate" or "when can I start moving while firing yet still be accurate". Most of the folks I coach stand still for 2-5 times longer than they need to before they master deadzoning and strafeshooting, making them an easier and less evasive target to hit.
Deadzoning is the first few stages, where you fire just one bullet while you're changing directions (or two with phantom). You can think of deadzoning as a specific type of strafeshooting. Strafeshooting also includes firing in bursts between strafes.
really great content thank you

@@Xelaadryth right, when should you use each? More specifically deadzone with a vandal vs staffshooting
still trying to understand the difference between stopping slightly then firing and going to the left after?

Is this the same as deadzoning
