No way Jessica's singing is worse than Tiffany's. That person is just purely delusional and completely biased. The only thing Tiffany has over Jessica is her usage of a connected head voice and a more precise sense of agility (at some points). Jessica has EVERYTHING ELSE. Her chest voice, her mixed/belted notes, her support, resonance, placement, intonation, and sense of pitch are all above Tiffany. Saying she is 6th is just an insult because they're immature and they don't like her.
The truly outstanding vocalist of the group is obviously Taeyeon. Jessica and Seohyun follow next as they have a better sense of pitch and support than EVERYONE ELSE in the group. Yes, I said EVERYONE ELSE. Although they're tied vocally as they have different strengths as well as issues throughout their singing range, it's understandable if someone put either of them above the other one. But the rest of them are not even qualified to be put into this debate.
Let's put it in this way so everyone can understand. SNSD's songs are often showcased in a very challenging range as they have a crowded and capable vocal line. That's why it'd be really hard on the other girls if Taeyeon was to be unavailable to perform with them. So have you ever seen Tiffany in charge vocally every time Taeyeon was absent? No. They have to rely on their 2nd and 3rd best vocalists, which are so OBVIOUSLY Jessica and Seohyun. Everyone can share the easiest parts, but the hardest part ALWAYS goes to Jessica and Seohyun. Period point blank.
P/s: I also commented something like this in the other video. They deleted it. How childish.
gosh what upsets me most is they only included jessica to tear her down and boost sooyoung and tiffany and they still act like they're a fan looking at things objectively. they tried to say sooyoung's mix is as good as jessica's after one decent sooyoung performance. and they've spread this stupid message to thousands of people. makes me so mad. and you can just tell if they could get away with it they'd have placed tiffany at #1. i mean they avoided using anything from taeyeon's the unseen concert for a reason lmao. to make her look closer to tiffany.
and not surprised they deleted your comment. they were so petty that people were asking "what about let it go" that they made a video about how people process vocals for these sorts of videos, acting like jessica autotuned her support in that video and acting like they didn't use a vocally processed live in their ranking video for taeyeon

I completely agree with you. I also watched the video and I was shocked by it because whoever made it clearly has no professional knowledge of singing. The SNSD Vocal line can consistently support (proper breathing technique) while the Dance line can only do so occasionally (Yes the Dance line might have improved a lot since debut but they still cannot support like the anyone in the Vocal line). There is no way anyone from the Dance line would be placed above the Vocal line.

The original video and the comments shows alot of ot9 sones are fake fans of Jessica. They dont know much about jessica as a solo artist, they just know deep down snsd will be more recognized as 9 and ot8 is missing something without Jessica.
i bet she's a new sone who clearly didn't experience what happened back during 2014 coz you can easily see how well she disregarded Jessica as the 2nd main vocalist of SNSD.
So accurate - there was a clear agenda in that video, mostly negative towards Jessica. It also didn’t escape me that Taeyeon has had some phenomenal lives in 2020 but the video used her less challenging songs. Seems like she wanted to put Tiffany first, knew she couldn’t, and was petty about it

thank you! while i understand that tiffany has gotten better and seohyun also as she has always been consistent, jessica was a main vocalist for a reason, her and taeyeon were pretty on par with each other while taeyeon's voice sounds stronger and jessica's is soft yet stong, taeyeon's vocal is number one and this is also bc she had time to grow as a solo artist, i was rlly angry bc this person completely disregarded jessica's talent

YES! i was waiting for this one, that ranking was made purely and only biased and didn’t include technical reasons at all, i just dont like people who pretend that they are experts on vocal just to do a ranking of so
please stop commenting the "only most recent performance" excuse because:
1) sooyoung's most recent peformance was winter breath in december 2018 not june 2018
2) yoona's most recent performance was in may 2019 not november 2018
3) yuri's most recent performance was at her march 19th fanmeeting in tokyo not her march 10th fanmeeting in taipei
4) seohyun's most recent performance was february 2019 not january 2019
5) they used jessica's performances from october 19th and october 27th and ignored her good moments on both those nights lol. all the performances in my video come from april and october 2019.
6) yoona's and sooyoung's examples in their video was 7 months earlier than their actual latest performance, just like jessica's peformances in april lol so if you want to scream that they shouldn't count, then why don't you mention yoona and sooyoung?

The original video was so biased. She should've put a disclaimer that is was his/her personal opinion. But the way the op described the ranking it's like he/she was basing it on facts but it really felt wrong and weird seeing the rankings. My bias is sooyoung and she really improved a lot but i know that jessica is still a better vocalist. Even the videos used in the original post are not from 2020 but the title says it their 2020 ranking. Misleading
Have been watching Sisters that make waves 3 (or something like that, her last Chinesse program) and I am amazed Jessica is considered a vocalist and singer, actually one of the strong vocals on the show when she is usually draged by Sones and the media in general.
I mean clearly the show is 100% playback most time but if she were that bad the power house vocal lider of the program will not have been so fond to have her on her team as vocalist.
People often forgets that when Jessica goes serious she used to go hand to hand with Taeyeon and her voice does a 180° turn sounding strong and full instead of fragile. Wahtching that in the program was actually what binged me here.

Actually that part is pretry much accurate. Yoona is a better singer than both. Hyo is not a singer, but a rapper, and Yuri, as much as her voice is nice to hear on studio, she's pretty much terrible singing live. Yoona is stable.
@@lordodinaesir7643 Yoona's every register is underdeveloped and she doesn't support. Her lines aren't challenging so they don't pose much of a problem. She has a certain ease in her falsetto but other than that Yuri, while not good, is still the strongest vocalist of the two.

Yoona was kinda unstable, in the past. She's pretty much better nowadays. Yuri on the other hand, got worse, I don't know why.

I think the most beautiful thing about jessica's vocals is her falsetto and lower register. people should appreciate these two factors more than high note. belting high notes isn't everything guys, it's amazing, I know, but it's not the most important thing in a vocal.
right! people act like she can't sing anymore bc she doesn't do the power vocals taeyeon does. they act like jessica wasn't considered 2nd best vocalist in snsd despite not doing power vocals all that much during her time in the group. she has other strengths but they don't care bc it's not flashy enough :/

Jessica Jung just released another song called SNAPSHOT. Hope you all stream and give it a listen. Very R&B and she has some great high notes in there too.
Her low register is definitely not bad. It was actually the best in SNSD at some point (probably til now but I'll play safe, but I really hope my bias still has the best lower register til now lol)
In terms of mix Jessica's is still good enough. Able to remain relaxed up to C5 and some C#5s
One of Jessica's real problem is her nasality but I'm glad that it hasn't hurt her as she doesn't always go too high above her sweet spot (up to C#5) plus, she can turn her nasality on and off, meaning, she can be nasal and sometimes, non-nasal
what it seems to me is jessica still has the same issues she's always had and the same strengths she's always had, she just hasn't really showcased all her strengths and since she doesn't do the same style of singing as taetiseo, people want to downgrade her. but one thing for sure is she's a lot more consistent with pitch as a soloist than she was in snsd. she doesn't go as off pitch as she would with simple vocal lines earlier in he career.
and i think its safe to say her lower register is still the same. her vocal performance back in 2016 of that thai song "thank you for loving me" was really good!
Jessica has actually gotten more consistent with her chest voice in G3’s. Some very rare moments of supporting F#3 but hey that’s something

No disrespect to Sooyoung as a vocalist but i still think the two of them are still better than her. for a long time, i really fans taesica's voice. actually i don't really understand the sound level and also the type of sound. but to me, their vocals almost sound the same and the vocal strengths complement each other. I really often listen to songs goodbye, indestructible, gee, forever, find your soul, and catch me if you can ot9. and almost their old songs like into the new world, way to go, etc. especially fitting their part. Especially for the song Catch Me If You Can, if you listen more carefully, the part of Jessica's high note sung by Taeyeon sounds like a heavy version of Jessica's voice in Catch Me if you can the high note part. apart from that for the indestructible song ot9 and find your soul, i really like their part. their voices were complementary. i really miss them
Thank you for making this. I completely agree, the initial idea of ranking it based on 'most recent' performances is already so subjective anyway hahaha so I'm glad someone comes forward to prove that Jess' vocal is not weak and should be respected.

I think her vibrato is the best in SNSD, especially in their Diamond live performances.
These days large groups have more than one main/lead vocals. In DBSK & SNSD, originally, there was just one main vocal and one lead vocal. In DBSK main - Junsu, lead - Jaejoong. In SNSD, main - Taeyeon, lead - Jessica. Mains do most of the adlibs, while leads carried the entire song from start to finish. Basically the lead's voice is what everyone had to follow and blend with. If I remember correctly, during Gee/Genie era, Sica confessed to singing less in the chorus and Tae had to pick up the slack.
SNSD's songs never sounded the same after Sica left. I'm not saying OT8 is worse, it is just that OT9 sounded different. OT8-stans seems to think that removing just one member doesn't change the dynamics that much. But Sica's voice is the backbone of Soshi songs, it's basically the Soshi sound. If Sica is the backbone, Tae's voice is the flesh and blood. Haha. Gross metaphor yes, but basically, Tae makes the song whole, but Sica is the frame. The other voices are mostly accessories. Although, maknae's more of the glue or perhaps the veins that keep all the voices together.
I stan the maknaes (YoonHyun), but when listening to Soshi songs, Yoona and Sooyoung's voices are really hard to pinpoint. Tbh, if it were Yoona, Sooyoung or Yuri who got out of Soshi, the Soshi sound wouldn't change that much. Seohyun and Sunny can pick up most of the lines and we'd not notice. Especially Seohyun, maknae has always been in-charge of duets and blending (with the other members, except TaeJeTi), so the subvocalists voices are originally already mixed with hers in most songs.
I'm not including Hyo because Hyo's voice is really distinct and even though she only has a few lines, if you listen to a Soshi song, you'd immediately know when it's Hyo's line. Tiffany also has a distinct voice. The dance-line and vocal-line are there for a reason. It's not even that dance-line are bad singers, it's just that they don't have distinct, unique voices.
There was a big frisson in the fandom when TaeTiSeo debuted, because the obvious choice should have been TaeJeTi, BUT perhaps TTS is the better choice. In TTS, maknae can balance out her unnies' voices, whereas TJT might be more of a diva showdown than a sub-unit. Also, TJT would obviously sound too similar to SNSD. Plus maknae got to spread her wings in TTS.
Just because Sica went solo, some OT8-stans are disrespecting her. It might be in the past, but without Sica, SNSD wouldn't be the SNSD that we know today, OT9 OT8 or OT5 does that really matter??? RIGHT NOW, IN THE FUTURE, FOREVER, GIRLS' GENERATION. Now, let's wait for the comeback.

Alright let’s make this very freaking clear. This is the ranking of SNSD OT9 vocal technique till this point:
1. Taeyeon
2. Jessica = Seohyun
3. Sunny
4. Tiffany
5-9. Dance line
The dance line members have VERY rare moments of modal chest register supports (only from Yuri and Sooyoung). What Sooyoung has been able to do is to showcase her singing more than just a couple easy parts in SNSD songs. But that does NOT mean her vocal technique has become better. Remember this children, vocal exposure =/= vocal technique improvements. You can say Jessica has been staying stagnant at her vocal level for so long, and playing it safe so it’s boring to you IN YOUR OPINION, that’s legit. What’s NOT legit is to say Sooyoung or Tiffany has gotten better than Jessica. And another huge misconception among SNSD fans is to say Tiffany were better than Sunny, even Seohyun or Jessica vocally. No sweetie, your ignorance of vocal pedagogy is exposed and in the forefront, and I would’ve been so embarrassed if i were you. Jessica and Seohyun have always been the 2nd and 3rd best right after Taeyeon. And Sunny is actually a bit better vocally than Tiffany. Just because you like Tiffany’s “Americanized” tone and her confidence as a singer and performer, does NOT excuse you from doing Sunny dirty like that. Sunny doesn’t have the best headvoice by far in the entire SNSD for no reason. Sunny has issues with nasality blocking her from resonance is just like Tiffany’s struggles with throatiness and overly pushing chest voice into her mix, except Sunny’s mixed register is way less messy than Tiffany’s.
I think the main problem was the one who made it his/herself. In the first place, the channel name of that "ranking" sounded really biased 🤷♀️

Jessica will forever be the second best singer in SNSD no matter what. Her techniques may not be as great as Taeyeon but her tone and unique voice made SNSD’s songs unique. I will never forgive SM or anyone for defaming Jessica’s vocal. Anyone in SNSD other than TaeSeo is no match for Jessica.

While Jessica is busy in her business, TiSeo was studying music especially Tiffany. I knew when I watched that video that something wasn't right, it was too absurd to me and of course I didn't wanted to believe people have the audacity to slander basically all members but especially Jessica that way, my chest was literally hurting. I understand that YoungOne for feeling upset if people see Tiffany as a bad singer (when she clearly isn't) but there's no reason to make a biased video when a list like that is supposed to be objective, so I really needed this, thank you 💗

I was never a big Jessica fan but even out of snsd she is at least on the same level as Taeyeon...she was a main vocalist for a reason... you don't really loose basic skills ... some singers struggle a bit with their voice over long years of singing ,thats completely normal ( tiffany was the best big example if you asked me )
Naaahhh back in the group, Taeyeon was always TECHNICALLY the better vocalist than her. There's even in an era where Seohyun's technique caught up to Sica's.
But what u said about basic skills is true. Just bcus she's playing it safe & not singing as much now doesn't mean she completely lose her technique. She basically stays the same.
jessica definitely stagnated while taeyeon continued to get better. i can't say they're at the same level but jessica could be close if she worked on her vocals as much as taeyeon. jessica seems to be a lot happier on stage these days and seems more adventurous too so i hope she puts out something great soon.
@What's Kpopping ? ya i did! it was great but it lacks the musicality she brings to songs like almost, where she sings it in her own way to make it her song. dangerous woman is amazing and her vocals are great but i wish she took some liberties with that too. i was hoping she'd re-record it now that shes working with tiyon christian since he's an r&b singer and would push her to find that voice but she just used her 2018 recording. tho either way i love it and i'm glad she's showing us that side of her. we've been waiting for that kind of music for ages.

@once blink army ! training time before debut doesn't really matter, what's more important is the singer's ability to recognize their flaws & their willingness to improve their technique, which apparently didn't work in Sica's case.
They can get better even after debut. Take a look at Taeyeon. She's literally keep improving, tho it's in slow pace. Jessica didn't, even after all these years. Her technique overall stays stagnant for more than a decade of her being in industry.

Darn it, Jessica was an effin' MAIN VOCALIST, just like Taeyeon. And most people don't know that, but after Stella Kim went out of the formation of GG Jessica was almost turned into the only main vocalist AND LEADER of the group. She only did not came out to that because Taeyeon joined the formation. The only one who got Taeyeon's lines when she went missing (except for Seohyun on some midtone parts) was effin' Jessica. Not Tiffany nor Sooyoung would dare to cover Taeyeon's parts...
The person that made that video is so biased about Tiffany and Sooyoung that they miss the part that Sunny has always been better than all of them... Sunny was never off key and almost never out of pitch

Just like on Sunny and Taeyeon performance of "Ma Boy" of Sistar, Sunny is singing the high notes like nothing, while Tae is making noticeable efforts, because Tae is actually a mezzo, not a real soprano, while Sunny in fact is, as Jessica, only the two in the group while Taeyeon has the best technical training. Still, Jessica was the main vocalist alongside Taeyeon. She even used to harmonized lots of Tae's and Seo's singing parts, like on their ending lines on "Mr.Mr.", as Seo's cover on her high note in this song has always sounded "weird", since she is not a soprano... Just like Tiffany covering Jessica's ad-libs on "Gee", always flat and on falsetto.

that's exactly what i mean. jessica hasn't shown any growth as a vocalist, not in the way taetiseo have, but she has already proved her worth and most importantly she has not at all shown that she's worse now. jessica is consistently good at what she's always been good at and weak at what she's always been weak at.
to act like sunny, someone who hasn't performed live since 2017, and sooyoung, who's performed a song once, are all suddenly better than jessica, is extremely dishonest. even tiffany, as much as i love her voice, hasn't grown past seohyun or jessica or 2017 sunny. she's worked hard on her voice and has become a smarter singer, but that doesn't mean she's suddenly better than all of them. the person chose a mastered performance video for taeyeon (happy) and then said jessica's let it go wasn't worth showing because it was mastered. they also used performances of taeyeon's that were tame in comparison to what she has shown in 2020, just to make her look closer to tiffany. it's just so weird.

Hello arieam I just wanted to thank you for doing this video and I just watched that vOcAl rAnkinG videO of that channel just a few days ago... and i felt so furious with the way he put things up and i have so many questions with that video... I literally shocked with his rankings and the way he easily invalidated snsd members' other excellent performances just because it has minor fixes and flaws doesn't sit right with me like... all of those vocal performances wouldn't eventually become a material, if the members didn't put their vocals in it and yet there he is invalidating it easily like he's some sort of close chingu with the girls... Also, the way he said that the dance line were just dancers and rappers,,, like... being a performer or an idol must be flexible with that this areas singing + dancing... and the dance line's solo releases and albums are the best example that snsd dance line can SING decently eversince from their rookie days and they just solidified more their positions as sub-vocalists . You just channeled all I wanted to say with this video. You did an excellent job love you!!
Hey this is a good vid. I do think that Jessica was so bullied after leaving SNSD and promoting as a soloist (altho I did find those vids funny). The thing is, she was still a lead vocal in SNSD during all those years. Skills may fade away when you don't use them as much, but I think at least in SNSD, they were grouped to dance and vocal line to put those with the talent in their categories. Even if some of her skills became rusty, I do think she has the talent for singing. She deserves the credit of being a vocal line. Her tone isn't my taste, but it worked well with most of SNSD songs.

But my opinion is Each Vocalist in SNSD has their own strenght and weaknessess..
Taeyeon = she has a strong type of voice and her technique is very good for me she almost reach perfect level.. but unfortunately, compare to another Vocal Line, her dance is not the best.
Jessica : Her voice color is her trademark and the vibrato control i think she's better than Taeyeon because she can implement it's in low notes perfectly.. her weaknessess is she often drain of energy.. you know what singing can be very tired.
Tiffany : Her Voice is really Strong (for me, she has the strongest voice in SNSD) and Husky but unfortunately sometimes she lost her control.
Seohyun : her technique is very good and i think she's the most stable one Along with Taeyeon, but in Belting Notes she is not good as Taeyeon, Jessica or Tiffany

Taeyeon doesn’t really do R&B cause I think she said she never liked it (but I haven’t really followed her music that much post 2017 so not sure about now), but whatever, now that I think about it Jessica’s vocals on R&B tracks were always my favorite. I’m glad I found this video cause now I’m rediscovering how great Jessica’s vocals are, I’m now on a binge with fly and etc..

Eh im not going to rank them, but Jessica was indeed the #2 Main Vocalist in SNSD for a reason. Her and Taeyeon were on the next level in comparison to the rest of the Vocal line (Seohyun, Tiffany, Sunny) who were still good, it was clear to alot of people. However, I can see where people are coming from if you listen to them today. In particular, Seohyun, and Tiffany has indeed improved dramatically. If you are at the top like Taeyeon and Jessica, their isint much room for improvement, but while Taeyeon has continued to push her boundaries while being active in the music scene, Jessica has kind of stalled in skill, as she focused on her business. Seohyun has composed and sang her own music that she is more comfortable with. And Tiffany has done many Concerts in the US and Asia while practicing with Vocal Coaches. Whats overlooked with Tiffany is she once had a higher range, but her history of Dysphonia and Vocal Nodules strained her voice, her lower range is her strong point, and arguably the best in SNSD. Very few Rankers I have seen dont even know this or even take it to consideration. And her Coach, Eric Vetro, and Concert attendees today claim that, its been adjusted and her technique is indeed much better. At the end of the day, Taeyeon, Seohyun, and Tiffany are still pushing themselves in the music industry, while Jessica hasent. Jessica was clear cut above the other lead vocalists in her time in SNSD, but their is an reasonable debate to be made if Seohyun and Tiffany in particular have caught up today as Solo Artists. Thats not bias.
yea, that's exactly what i say in this video. these are the same frustrations i have as a fan. i don't even particularly like jessica's music, not in the way i like taetiseo's, particularly taeyeon's. but just because she's not growing as a vocalist doesn't mean she's regressed, which is what the original video was claiming. they were claiming that sunny and sooyoung were better than jessica.
my main focus was her being put in 6 instead of 4, because i don't think its egregious to put tiffany above her. i don't think tiffany has better technique, but she is definitely a lot smarter than jessica is, and a lot more confortable on stage and willing to push herself when she needs to. those are all qualities i admire and i think should be taken into account. however, they did purposefully use bad clips to make jessica look horrible, and they also didn't use any of taeyeon's best lives because they wanted tiffany to look closer to taeyeon. i just think it's weird.
also i think seohyun and jessica were equal for a long time, i have no problem saying seohyun is better than jessica, and that's because she's put in more work to develop her head voice. i think tiffany is super smart because she sings her comfort range, which is something she didn't do in snsd and that made people think she was bad, when she never was. jessica is focusing a lot on her weakest register without really developing it as you'd expect and that's why she sounds off. but this has literally always been the case. her strengths are still extremely evident and that makes her still a strong vocalist and worthy of the 3th/4th spot.

i can't say shes improving because she seems to be playing it safe for the most part. shes not looking to improve the parts of her voice that need improving, like her head voice or her agility, tho to me her falsettos sound nicer now than they did before. i'd like to see her attempting belts higher than c5 more frequently to gauge if she can consistently support them. but she's still strong in all the ways that made her a good vocalist in the past. she hasn't shown any decline. she was very impressive in the chinese reality show she just appeared on, especially considering she didn't really sing for 2 years before it, so that tells me she's been maintaining her vocals well behind the scenes.

I’d say Sunny is the weakest. Sunny might support higher, but that’s just because she has a higher tessitura. Sunny’s agility, pitch, and control are all sub-par when compared to Tiffany. Many people assume higher = better, but that’s not the case.

Tbh Jessica voice isn’t all that great from 2014 to now. She just stopped improving. After IGAB era, she just lost that WOW factor in her vocals. I honestly, don’t want to even call her a main vocalist anymore cuz all her most recent highnotes sounds monotone. Like she’s not trying or can’t reach her max potential in her vocals like she used too. Whereas Taeyeon is always excelling.
She definitely isnt improving like taeyeon is. And she definitely doesnt have the same passion and desire to work on her skills the way seofany do. But her voice is still great. Her skills are still there even if you think it sounds monotone, it really doesnt. I think its bc she just doesnt go as high as she would in snsd, so you're tired of her bb4s and a4s lol. She seems to be more interested in pushing her tone thru her falsetto instead of focusing on belts. But her technique is still solid. She just needs to do more with it. Her new songs snapshot and daydream are pretty vocally interesting, and cant sleep is a nice ballad using her lower tone. So hopefully she keeps on this trajectory. Really wish she'd push herself like taeyeon does.

I’m on neither side of agreeing or disagreeing. I just see there’re both rights & wrongs to this matter. First of all, Jessica was one of the main vocalist. And SM wasn’t gonna put her in that position if she’s not good. And the fact is, she’s good. She really is a great singer. I’ll never be able to live down her Almost cover in 2011 tour. Although, nowadays she does have pitch problems, more than in her snsd years. I just think it could be the reason of her being busy with her other matters, eg; her business. And she may not receive as much vocal training as she did in SM. Nevertheless, singing in a concert for hours should be tiring. Even Taeyeon, Seohyun, Tiffany have pitch problems. But I did see a great improvement from tiffany & sooyoung, vocal wise. They’re all very talented. We’re very lucky to see them grow into the amazing women they’re now.
ps; We don’t have to put the other girls down just to bring another up. Why don’t just we love them for what they’ve accomplished till this day. They were all amazing in their prime years. As a sone, I’m so proud of each of them, of how much they’ve come and achieved.
i'm not putting anyone down, that's why i started my video with a disclaimer. i just strongly believe the person who made the original video had an agenda to push that they've unfortunately convinced thousands of people off using cherrypicked videos. jessica has always had pitch problems. it was one of her flaws as a vocalist in snsd that didn't detract her to the extent that people are making it out to be now. it is just more noticeable now because she has to sing a lot more seeing as she sings by herself now. jessica has improved as a vocalist in small ways that aren't flashy enough for people to notice while tiffany and seohyun have improved a lot and do a lot of impressive vocals. i would love for jessica to push herself and attempt to do the same, but it doesn't mean she's now the 6th best vocalist in snsd.
firstly, the person only included jessica to put her in this position. they used one sooyoung performance that was good FOR SOOYOUNG, a subvocalist, and a couple of 2017 sunny performances. like i'm sorry i really don't see where the middle ground is here. i used my video to show examples going against every point they made. and the truth is that if jessica was given the same amount of respect tiffany, seohyun, sooyoung, and taeyeon were given, they would have used her best vocals or at least the average of her vocal ablity to compete with the other girls, NOT her worst to paint her as this mediocre singer that a subvocalist is beating now. i'm not trying to take away from sooyoung's improvement, but she is far from where jessica is now. it frustrates me to see people act like she's better off one performance, and not even the most recent one at that. and it frustrates me that sunny, who hasn't picked up a mic since 2017, is just better on principle. they did this to convince people that jessica is now worse, and they failed to actually show proper evidence of that. they just used buzzwords and cherrypicked moments in her performances with the audio enhanced to make the pitchy moments even worse. whereas she had much better performances on the same night.

not always. companies now use mr live so it sounds like live singing but isn't. usually you can tell its mr live bc they use the same audio for multiple performances, or if their lips aren't synced to the track, or if it just sounds too good to be true, like they're dancing heavily but sound fine. even though some groups use this, it doesn't mean they can't sing live or aren't good vocalists. it's just sometimes they have to use this trick to give their voice a break.

@@ceresm8578 i'm 99.9% sure that's live. because it seems like their mouths are synced to the words, you can hear them breathe and make little mistakes, and also sketchbook, the show they're on, is known for live vocals. if anything, they might have processed their voices when they were editing the show but you can only process good vocals to make it turn out that way, so either way they were good live :)

For me i will rank jessica 4 in 2020. Jessica is lack of practice becoz she is busy in her fashion business and she lipsynced quite a lot these years. But no.6 is not really accurate because Jes must be better than soo even she is lack of practice. We saw tif and soo had a huge improvement but soo is not that high, almost from 6-7. Main vocalist is just a name and it can't representing anything. Well, we need to admit somebody improved and somebody went down.
i can accept that people would put her at 3 but the truth is that just because some members do more highnotes doesn't mean they've improved. jessica's technique has not gotten worse and i can't say that tiffany's has improved more than seohyun. again if people want to say tiffany is better because of the type of songs she sings, go for it, but making this about technique is just really weird, especially considering technique can't be measured off two or three performances.

The early days some of the high notes are like yelling but now she has found the right coach to tune her voice. No matter how amazing Jessica is, i think as a singer, she should reduce the time of lipsyncing, most of her lipsyncing are not necessary, her cords are fine. I appreciate Tiffany more because despite her vocal nodules, she still singing live unless she can't totally sing. We can't deny that Jessica spent less and less time on singing since solo and her vocals are going down.

The other video wasn’t creating a Narrative that TTS is overall better. Doesn’t the video state in the description that it’s based off of the most recent performances not overall? It’s a bit unfair for Jessica sure that she hasn’t sang live as much as the other members. But Jessica is still a great singer and the improvement to members such as Tiffany and sooyoung is incredible.
1) they didn't use most recent videos for sooyoung, yoona, or yuri but it's there go to excuse for using jessica's weaker performances.
2) they didn't use the best moments from her recent fanmeeting from october 19 and the 26th while they used tiffany's best moments.
3) in no way does sooyoung and tiffany's improvement mean they surpassed jessica. yes their improvement is great, that doesn't mean they have better technique all of a sudden. tiffany is doing for the most part what she did in snsd. and even then she wasn't considered better.
4) they were extremely charitable to sunny bc she hasn't sung in so long. they used a few clips and the only reason she isn't even lower is because of her history as a vocalist. we know she's good. that's why it bothers me that jessica doesn't get the same treatment. her recent fanmeeting may not have been her best vocals, that doesn't matter because ranking them based on most recent lives is extremely unfair in general. the only people who have shown enough to make a vocal ranking for 2020 is tiffany and taeyeon who have both had concerts in 2019 and 2020 lol. no one else because they have random fanmeetings where they sing a couple of songs and it is NOT indicative of their technique overall.
5) the thing that really annoys me is they didn't use jessica's let it go performance because it's clearly mastered (even though you can't digitally master techique but whatever) yet they used taeyeon's happy live that was also mastered by sm. it's just so hypocritical. not to mention taeyeon has much better vocals and they chose her tamest ones from this year to make her seem closer to tiffany.
the entire video was just manipulation. jessica's vocals aren't anywhere near taeyeon's and seohyun is steadly surpassing her. but no, tiffany and sunny and sooyoung are not better than her based on one performance each. i used this video to show y'all how many clips the person could have used and chose not to because those actually show that jessica is still good and not some pitchy mess.

i feel bad for these people who canot accept the reality...they fought desperately to defend jessica and accuse others of being biased, but they themselves are biased too...the are upset when jessica got underestimated...but they also always underestimate other members, for example tiffany...golden star is a group of selfish people who want to win alone
if i was biased, i would say seohyun and taeyeon are worse than jessica, which is something actual biased deluded golden stars say. but the truth is, jessica hasn't improved like seohyun taeyeon or tiffany, but that doesn't mean she's now worse than tiffany and sooyoung and sunny. please, you're not being objective and coming here accusing me of having a bias. f*ck off.
Jessica's support range 2020-2023 is G#3-C#5 and rarely showed support in D5.(Which is almost the same level in her SNSD era). She really bounced back( gained more confidence) after taking experience in a music program and working songs with Chinese vocalists.
She got a little bit better with getting rid of nasality and improved with her mix.
There's a debate about Seo/Tiff better than Jess.
Let's see -
Seo has better HV than Jess while Jess has better mix than Seo. And the rest are almost in same level. They have always been and still are in same level.
Tiffany has better low register than Jess(even better than Tae!) . Besides, Jess got everything else.
I'm not just saying it to defend Jess. It's a technical point of view.

I think members improved a lot but no so much to change take over one another and change the ranking cuz the ranking has always been like this since debut era.
