Another great episode from Saif. I’m glad he is touching upon these topics. Bitcoin is important but it’s only a tool. A tool used by ppl. People fix things with tools, but ppl don’t fix what they don’t think is broken. Podcasts like these educate on the various ways the world has been broke.

In 1948, the population of Hebron district was about 93,000 in an area of 1,000 square km; so the per capita land ownership was about 1.1 hectare (11 dunum). In 2021, the population of Hebron was about 780,000 making for a per capita land ownership of 0.13 hectare. An 8 fold population increase in 75 years may have been good or not ( it suggests a very ineffective genocide) but a subsequent 8 fold increase in any time frame would not be feasible. The world as a whole has this dilemma, but it is very apparent and more immediate in Israel/Palestine since resources are not abundant and the two major populations can't abide one another. Of course, that land ownership is never going to be uniformly distributed so the universal social issues will also persist.

Saif, I see that it is still not clear to you why Britain & France were akin on starting a war with Germany, which gave us WW1. The reason is that Germany was a superpower in the making, their navy was starting to surpass the British, they were starting also to compete with France & Britain for colonies, so their economy needed to be finished off by a brutal & long war.

The main thing that I appreciate about this discussion is that I perceive Saifedean to be entirely sincere in his convictions. On the other hand, I find his narrative about this very complex social and geopolitical issue to be wildly incoherent, and there are so many points that he makes which are fantastically distorted versions of history. I know it’s unfair for me to make a criticism like this without specifying the points that I disagree with, but they are just so numerous that it would take me forever to even scratch the surface. In a nutshell, Jews and Palestinians are living in two completely different meta-narratives with respect to historical realities surrounding the conflict. Again, I think that Saifedean is crafting this narrative in good faith, but I can assure you that the way he characterizes Jewish/Zionist imperatives is a massive distortion of how the Jewish people have seen themselves for the last hundred years. To be fair, the way that most Jewish/Israeli people characterize the position of the Palestinian people is also often a massive distortion of the way they see themselves.

Saifedean Ammous, being a jew I really respect you for all the work that you do in terms of teaching people about Austrian economics and Bitcoin. But I think you are wrong on many points here. We call ourselves „am israel“ so the people of Israel. We are not just a religion. We are a people with our own language and our own history which started in Israel and continues in Israel. I am absolutely for peace and coexistence especially between Jews and Palestinians since we have common roots and happen to live in the same land. But it is dishonest to tell people that the life of Jews under Islamic rule was peaceful. Also it would be fair to mention that the land that Jews started to migrate to was desert wasteland. About 60-70% of what was called the British mandate of Palestine (which included now Israel, Gaza, westbank and Jordan) was abandoned. Also please provide the name of one Arab village or city in that region that was destroyed and replaced by Jews before 1947. As far as I know until the Arab nations attacked all the land jews lived on was bought from Brits or Arabs. I can for sure Name Jewish villages and settlements that were cleansed of jews by Arabs though.
Besides that I again want to put focus on the fact that I really respect you for sharing your knowledge and I am sure that in the core of your opinion you, as much as me, and most jews and I hope Palestinians just want peace.

@@vinvinvino3176 I don't mind him being biased, the unintellectual thing is to state facts of history while being biased and thinking that this is reality.
it's a stupid thing to talk about when it's clear you have a personal agenda that has to do with feelings.
most if not all societies are terrible at whole, sometimes more sometimes less.
they all eventually become authoritarian with mob rule. sometimes more sometimes less.
taking about this conflict is silly. the true enemy of the people is the state, no matter what name or ethnicity it is, even though some are more terrible than others.
they always start ruining everything for everybody at some point in time, and in the process commit terrible things.
just focus on creating unstoppable tools to liberate humans from the state or at least be able for some free folk to opt out as much as possible, and dismantle most of the states powers.
taking about Palestinian Israel state conflict is a stupid conversation to begin with, sadly he also shows his lack of awareness in actually being biased which is disappointing coming from an so called intellectual.
      that's all.
