Friggin' awesome dude! I been watching you for YEARS. Congrats brother...it honestly couldn't have gone to a better person. Your passion for Oliver/White equipment and history, the way you take care of equipment. Wonderful.
Here in sw Kansas. Have had a 4-270 since it was new!!!!! Best tractor white ever made in my opinion!! First tractor I ever drove and as long as I’m around it will never leave!!!!
Really excited for you. It’s not something the average person understands, but getting to pick up a bucket list or dream tractor is awesome. Can’t wait to see videos of it in action.
Our farm is a mile west of where you bought the tractor from. You definitely spotted the Whites at our farm. Congratulations on getting your dream tractor.
What an awesome piece of history you saved!! Congrats! I know it will be a while, but I'm looking forward to seeing some maintenance and repair video's.
Many, many, great comments. We all knew this vision would become a reality one day. This one found a good home. Congratulations!. She's a beautiful machine.
Congratulations Ethan! That 270 has found the perfect home! A 4-150 was my main tillage tractor from 1980 to 2000. But I then went the Versatile route, like it sounds like your 270's previous owners. For that tractor to stay in it's local area and will still be earning it's keep on your farm is heaven. For it and for you. Yeah....I'm jealous 😊 Congratulations
Holy Kanootson that tractor is HUGE! 24.5-32 duals?! That tractor makes those tires look small! My dad has a Deere 700A (industrial 5020) and it has 24.5-32 tires on it and they look big. I almost bought an 1800B because I wanted it but the mechanical issues with it scared me away. I wish I would’ve gotten it. I didn’t need it but I wanted my own Oliver tractor, ya know? Im so happy you got a tractor that you’ve been dreaming of having! I hope you get a lot of good use out of it and make plenty of memories with it!
Awesome man, its it a beautiful machine. Sometimes you just gotta make that crazy purchase for you. I did it last year and after getting over the anxiety of dropping that much on something you just want and do not need, I look back with no regrets. Looking forward to seeing you put her to work. And if you actually do clean it up and redo the paint you will have one of the best looking machines in your area.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy Ahoj. Měl by si na sebe především vydělat v první sezóně jen opravit to nutné a pak, na konci druhé sezóny mu udělat generální opravu. Bůh Ti žehnej.
From the outside looking in, I think you did make a smart business decision. Just like you said you’re not gonna need any more horsepower and with your skill and how well you take care of your equipment that tractor will last you the rest of your life. $20,000 for a 300 hp tractor seems like a awesome deal. You could probably put another 20,000 into her and she would be cherry if not close to it and you still would have a hell of a deal. I know you justify this as something you “wanted” but it wasn’t a bad purchase. I would think it would be very hard to try and find a tractor of that quality for $20,000. Let’s say you have it for 20 years and let’s say you put another 20,000 into it that’s still only $2000 a year. Seems to me like you made a great decision.
The clutch is like a big rig clutch then all the way down is the clutch brake to get it in gear part way down is the working clutch to switch gears while ur moving. They make 2 piece clutch brakes so u can replace it without pulling the trans
I seen one in Kansas that had a canopy/overhanging roof with a pile of lights. It looked factory and I always wondered if it wasn’t and experimental roof setup. Really made the cab look nice.
It’s a good investment. As the farm grows and you cover more ground that big tractor will be handy . Plus the fact that it will be used and kept in the same relative area as it has its whole life is cool . Nothing wrong with older large hp machines.
When you mentioned the possibility of a new tractor, I figured that's what it was. It's a tuff looking bastard with the 24.5's. Congratulations on getting your Eleanor. As for the cab kit, look up Fehr cab kits, I believe they're in Fairbury IL. They make kits for just about everything. Can't wait to see it in the field!
Sweet find. "I want it" is justification enough in my book, not that you asked. You ain't lying to yourself about what it can do for you; it's there because it makes you happy. You only live once, and $20K is very, very reasonable for what you got there.
Congratulations on acquiring Elenor, I also bought a tractor I didn't need or really have the cash for a 1959 Canadian built Cockshutt 550 row crop. They were only built for 4 years and low production, Only 2,930 built. Also it fits nicely with my 1959 Oliver 550. Looking forward to seeing it in the field next year!
Good for you Ethan. This machine will serve you very well. This is sure to last you for years based on your maintenance skills. Can't wait to see it Rollin dirt. Thanks for the post. Take care. Fred.
Awesome! Looks like a clean one tractor, dean had decals custom made for his 325, he’s probably got the info on them, but I’m sure you talked about that. And I’d like to make a correction the amount of 4-270s for sale. There were actually 4, there was one BigIron here in Nebraska that sold a week and a half ago. But it was non operational, and I had thoughts that this one was that one, but obviously not. Can’t wait to see her in the field!
Pretty awesome find. Some times it seems like it’s meant to be. If that’s the dumbest thing you have ever done, I’d say you have been doing things pretty well. It will be nice to see it shined up and in the field. Thanks for sharing. Your excitement about this tractor is pretty common for farm kids. I have a few that I would like to have.
i think its important to treat yourself from time to time. she looks like a sweet big ol girl Ethan! i had the same "complex" when i bought back my first tractor a 1971 Massey Ferguson 165 i dident need it as i dont farm. BUT i wanted to treat myself to something nice for once so i bought her back as an early 30th birthday present for myself. looking forward to see the videos on this one in the future! Cheers from Norway :D PS Love youre videos! its cool to see some of the older smaler machines and not just 100k++ machines!
I'm glad to see the deal worked out, been waiting to hear about afyer the teaser episode...lol...nothing like the old iron, she's a beaut Clark...congrats on Eleanor
That's so sick man!!! Best decision you could have made buying that beauty! Also don't forget to put your 3 point down for winter storage... Them things stay up too much an eventually they wont ever go down again... Learned that the hard way with a JD 7810
Ethan, you can only buy them when they are for sale. when its that close to home it becomes a must buy, not because you needed it but because you wanted one forever, and it has found its forever home. the previous owner defiantly could see you were the person who deserves to own his future project tractor.
That is Awesome to see you get this. I was wondering if you were getting one of these. Hope you Restore this & your 4-150. I enjoy watching you. I enjoy you using older White equipment more then the newer equipment. Keep doing what you do.
Congratulations on getting your tractor she looks a great machine will be great to see Eleanor working in the field eventually at some time in the future
Ethan, The time to buy something when it's rare is when you find it. Looks like you got some repairs and servicing to do but I think overall that sounds like it'll help you out a lot on the farm. 👍 Good luck 🍀🤞 with your new purchase. Thanks Michael

That's an awesome story I've been waiting since you mentioned a new tractor was coming! Would be really cool if you could buy that experimental offset disc to pull with it
Congratulations! Thats a beast of a tractor. Like yourself I’ve grown up with Oliver’s and White Tractors/still farm with them. My dream tractor would be one of those 1150 Versatile’s on triples. Some day I hope to be in the right place at the right time to have one fall in my lap. . .

Sometimes you just have to do stuff not because it's practical...but because you want it, and dammit it feels good when you do it! Awesome tractor. Opens up a world of opportunities for implements if you come across some cheap. I always liked the 270 with the fuel tanks. Almost looks like it has armor on it.
Four years ago I bought a 1982 4840 Massey Ferguson. Not near as rare as your 270, but I was equally as drawn to them as you the 270. There was a long time dealer in the area and it’s easy to find guys that have worked on them. I’m the second owner. My dad thought I was nuts. Now he loves to drive it and he’s 83. I pull a heavy harrow-gator and a 30 ft reel disc with ease every summer. Sometimes a 6 shank sub tiller in the fall. I put a cab kit in it. Well worth the $300. It really cut down on the noise. The previous owner put a CaseIH air ride seat in it. A nice upgrade. Your 4-180 will seem like a ginny-popper compared to your 4-270. We had an 1805 years ago and it’s not even in the same universe as the 4840. It’s in the right hands. You are gonna love it. Can’t wait to see vids of it every year.

Going need a 13 shank Glencoe.... 😂 Nice find! Tom schempfer from o'brien County IMPLEMENT in Sheldon Iowa was always good on parts for Oliver. As long as you can actually use it- Get what you can, when you can, while you can. There are at least two 225's and one 270 north and east of Marshall MI about 12-15 miles. Haven't seen them in a year or two, but haven't driven that area much either during that time. Used to pass them almost every week. They do make pre formed cab kits, more money but makes install sooooo much easier. Worst part is prep work cleaning old material.
I know they make them. I just don’t know if anybody would have taken the time to make one for a low production tractor.
congrats your enthusiasm for your newtractor is not only palpable but contagious good luck
Super exciting! Congrats Ethan! Glad you got ahold of that gem. I’m just outside of Rochester. Athens had a decent dealer, that could’ve been it
Congratulations on the new tractor can't wait to see what she does on the field
Me to.
Congratulations on getting your unicorn. Like you said you don't spend your money frivolously and deserve this because your a hard working man.
Thanks.
Sometimes you have to do something for yourself and enjoy life. It's the little things and then you still get to use it.
I like the straight 6 cat engines better than the v8s. 3306&3406 are sweet running engines
No comparison in dependability.

Congrats on the purchase. You’ll need to do a video on how to get that style on shifter to work right and smooth. I’ve tried and failed. Some working words will be used shifting it.
This one shifts fine as it is. The transmission brake is just sticky.

Congrats on your new tractor can't wait to see it in the field and looking forward to your next video.
Thanks.
If Fehr makes a cab kit for one of these GET IT…. They’re the best quality…. Make sure you get the proform kit for a little extra $$…. Fits right into place with no stretching…. I put one in my 4755 this year and made it into a brand new tractor
