Before a gunman shot dead 50 people at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, he posted about his plans on an 8chan message board.
As the scale of the atrocity became clear, the neo-Nazi and white supremacist users of 8chan rejoiced.
Investigative journalist Robert Evans from Belingcat explains how this dark corner of the web has allowed the far-right to flourish and why global counter-terrorism authorities should have picked up on it much sooner.
