- Last Christmas, we went to a hotel called Yutomori Club in Mount Zao area, Miyagi prefecture, Japan. It was the best ONSEN hotel in Japan that we've been to. It's an all inclusive resort hotel. And the experience we had was amazing! We combined this resort hotel with visiting the famous snow monsters on the Miyagi side of Mount Zao.

yeah, the foods were delicious! it was a little bit too early to see the snow monsters at Mt Zao. that's why we had to go a lot higher up to the mountain. but it was still really breathtaking!^^

Thank you so much!🙏 we loved the hotel too! I just wished we could stay longer lol for the snow monster, there's only one local company running the tour. here's their website: www.zao-sumikawa.jp/
(not sponsored or affiliated in anyway) we just called this place and book the tour for our family. no pre-payment was required. we paid by credit card at site when we arrived. they have pick up bus service from Togatta bus station to their site up on the mountain. it was quite windy and cold so make sure you dress warm, wear sun glasses or ski goggles. they have rental snow booths (included in price). I recommend bring extra socks for these booths :)
I’m going to Japan this December for 12 days. I plan to spend 5 days in Nagano (Onsen), 5 days in Tokyo, 4 days undecided. Im planning to visit Kyoto, but I find the attractions to be too crowded and touristy and too far. Are there any small town recommendation you can recommend for the 4 days? Preferably somewhere within 2h of train ride from Tokyo and by non Shinkansen lines.
