one of the finest piano quartet I have ever heard in my LIFE! I used to love the Brahm's no.1 piano quartet, but after I discovered this absolute jewel by Dvorak, I replaced the Brahms with this Dvorak. Each movement is full of life, passion, happiness, and energy. It's an upbeat work with sensuous melodies.

This is the second quartet for piano and strings of Dvorak. The first one op. 23 was a masterpeice. This one is much complex: there is a note out of scale in the very beginning which gives its impetus to the first movement. All the three other movements are equally efficient. Since the quartet op. 23, Dvorak gained in mastering. So, it is an absolute masterpiece that we have here to listen. There are so many gems in Dvorak's chamber music !!!!

Not surprised -- this piece was "phoned in from heaven", to quote Leonard Bernstein. I've played it, too (I'm a pianist) and loved it.
    Your performance was beautiful.

A solid work, played well; particularly the cellist. Enjoyed. Thank you for the video.

This quartet is splendid. Note how the beginning starts with a dissonance which gives the impulse to the whole first movement. The music is well balanced between the instruments. The piano has a major role, but not a leading role: this is not a false chamber concerto for piano and strings.

I found an old score of this quartet. Like a lot of Dvořák, it's quite wonderful. This is a great performance of a difficult work!

Dvorak starts the first movement by a short cell with a non-tonal note (H in Eb major) which gives the impetus to the whole movement. This is audacuious. His friend Brahms never did that.

Why? The impulse comes from the beginning, B in E flat.

Did Bernstein really say that? Wow! Where did you find that quote? Just curious....As a fellow pianist!

I agree although the third movement is a bit less outstanding in my opinon. Overall, just amazing though.

Ok, no, I've been rough on this one. The second theme is amazing. But the beggining is a bit awkward.

Careful: this is the cellist’s RUclips account. 😉 Sounds fine to me.
