      Hello!
      I have good news.
      The Dr. Pulley weights do improve take off speed! It is sinply a matter of finding the best weights for your bike.
      I installed 15 gram weights in my Yamaha Majesty yp400. Certainly it was worth it! I also purchased them for less than the OEM Yamaha price.

    Without modification, DRP won't increase your top speed. Just a simple 0.5mm milling to the movable front pulley base will make a big difference. You should have noticed that with DRP, the limit to the highest ratio is not limited by the pulley slider groove anymore, but rather by the pulley face. You can check this by looking at the metal around the O-ring face, they will leave some mark with DRP. Simply mill the face by 0,5mm and press the O-ring deeper (or make it seats deeper if it's not possible) you will increase the pulley travel by 2mm. I always do this to all my Honda scooter (those 110cc, 125cc, 150cc variants). I always get DRP with slightly lighter weight, and with this mod I get faster acceleration, slightly more top speed, and as mentioned in the video waaaaaaay longer slider/roller life. My Honda Vario 150 originally used 15.5gr for each roller, I changed to 14gr DRP. I replaced my last one (Vario 150cc) after 62.000km with no significant wears (approximately 0.2gr for each, less than the new one). The only downside with lighter slider is you lose some fuel mileage (but more fun times) 48km/liter instead of the original 51-52km/liter.

  • @CabOnceAgain
    @CabOnceAgain 2 года назад +12

    The good thing about Dr.Pulley sliders is you can get the same top end ratio with lighter weights thus improving the acceleration of the scoot. I've had Dr.Pulleys on all my scooters and can promise there is better acceleration & top end with them even when going with lighter mass. Video posters demonstration of ratios is still valid. I bet if they dropped the mass a couple of grams on the sliders they would see better acceleration but with the same top end of heavier rollers. Nice video nonetheless.

    I have a Vespa Gts 300 Malossi cylinder and head. I use dr.pulleys for the last 45.000 km. They are night and day in comparison with the standard rollers. Better acceleration higher top speed and I kept last pulleys 40.000 km and I changed them although my mechanic suggested there was still life in them and I should have kept them at least 10.000 km more.
    Normal rollers 6.000 km max and they were shot.

But after i install the dr pulley rollers also 13grams( weight check ech) my nmax open vva at 64kmh... It means it reach rpm 6000 earlier. Everything else is stock, only the rollers. I'm more towards economy riding for better fuel consumptions & mileage, so after install the dr pulley rollers it feels less economy in fuel consumption.. riding style still the sam, lets see this few days to see how it performance Maybe still new & fit in the pulley housing. If it still no changes, might use original rollers back which has better fuel consumption.

I got rougly a 1.5mm lower gear ratio and technically a higher ratio (of course the engine must have enough power, the belt must be long enough to allow a higher ration and the rear pulley must allow a higher ratio too) . I did this on a gilera runner 180 2 stroke on his original variator. The original variator is kinda gimped so the benefits could be better that on a a Good Variator. If theres no changes in weight or ratio, i dont see how it can magically change the acceleration and top speed.. you can give it a try... a ladder can bring you up 5 meter high.. another ladder of a different brand with the same exact dimension wont magically bring you higher..

      @@mlxnrzhr That may be the case but I still think you should have demonstrated it. I saw a guy change his stock rollers with the same weight Dr Pully Sliders and he found his rpm's were lesser at the same speeds. He could hit say 20 from a stop at a lower rpm than he could before and so on. By the time he was up to his max speed he had shaved 1100 rpms off compared to his stock rollers. Some perceive this as a change in speed. If you are shifting faster (at lower rpm's) to hit a certain speed, that's time saved thus some amount of acceleration. Now does a lower weight actually give you faster acceleration off the line or a higher weight actually give you more top end.. perhaps not but there still is a difference perceived at least in that guys test. At least if you are not revving so high to get to your top speed, that saves engine ware and tear and if properly tuned I'd think you could possibly squeeze a little more top out of the bike due to having those rpms left to play with.

      @@DivergentDroid stock with same weight dr pulley?. I really cant see how it can make a difference.. if rpm is lower, you are off the peak power. You are losing acceleration.. you are shifting at low rpm. So the video you watched testing is probably another bad video.. Ive never seen people shifts at low rpm around the track.. they would normally rev to red line to so that the engine is around peak power... thats acceleration.. theory on low weight gives you acceleration and heavy weight gives you top end is wrong.. the key theory to any internal combustion engine is to shift and stay at peak power for acceleration and top end.. i will take your advice on showing the test video.. its a little difficult in my little tiny country to do this kinda testing on video.. most of them would blur out the speedometer once they go above speed limit..

    I don't know what all this "they don't work" garbage is cause I've installed them on a 400 Bergman and a 300 Forza and they have worked nicely. Better acceleration, better top speed (or lower rpm at cruising speed) and a wider rpm range between throttle on and throttle off. Meaning I can keep the revs lower when I limit throttle for relaxed riding AND get higher revs at WOT. It sounds like your theorizing rather than having actually tested these... Bad video imo.

    • @mlxnrzhr

      Your comment on limit throttle revs lower and highers revs at WOT is a very good indicator of placebo effect.. they are not advertised that way and they are not supposed to work that way.. centrifugal force equals mass of the rollers by angular velocity square multiply by distance.. the higher the rpm, the higher the distance, the more the pulley wants to close. Changing the mass will only lower OR increase the whole result, it will never be both.. So i guess you probably have changed other stuff as well to have got that same effect or your observation is purely a placebo effect..

      The speed of changing the ratio is the gain of using these. Not the ratio at idle or WOT. This measurement video is of little use to the effect provided by the dynamics of the weights change.

      This video is more of dr pulley design claiming to increase the lowest and highest ratio.. comparing 30 dollars dr pulley 16g to a 6 dollars normal rollers 16g. They both work exactly the same at the same weight. Alot of people felt the difference after using dr pulley because they went from original weight rollers to a far lighter rollers.. eg. 20g to 16g. Instantly they felt dr pulley sliders are good. Try changing 20g dr pulley to 16g normal rollers.. then you will say dr pulley is a waste of money..
