For row one of the ears, you put chain 3, instead of chain 1, and sl st into the 1st dc, instead of the 1st sc.

I just got my 8th pair of Hello Kitty shoes today and I felt it was time to add the bucket hat. Thank you so much for this pattern and your generosity. I am a super fan (I have a HK hand, face and foot tattoo) and almost all of my clothes (including pants) are HK in some way and every purse and wallet I have is HK. Lol if it can be made in HK I’m here for it and probably already have it. I even have HK glasses for my very poor vision. My loofah, face soap and makeup is all strictly licensed HK products. Lol

when making the hat, do you count the 1st inc that you put inside the slip stich (14:09) as a stitch, or do you wait until you start the dcs to count it as a stitch? i hope this makes sense because i’m having a little bit of trouble with the counts
yes this makes sense! it counts as a stitch :)
my first stitch is an increase, so i place two double crochets in that stitch
usually you would start with a chain three, but i use a different method that makes a thicker stitch that counts as a chain. when you start the nest row, you’ll stick your hook into this stitch

Idk why my 2nd ear is turning out to be smaller and slimmer than the 1st ear , the 1st ear turned out to be perfect but I'm struggling with the 2nd ear I'm using the same hook and same yarn still still after 5 to 6 tries it is turning out to be smaller 😭😭😭😭😭
you might be using different/inconsistent tension
What hook size did u use?

Hi! I’m following this video along with you now & I noticed that mine looks a lot smaller than yours? I’m on row 9 & yours looks much bigger & im not sure why. It seems like I’m using the same size yarn (acrylic size 4) & im using a 4mm hook like the video said 😕 any advice? I’m just going to make more rows than you did to hopefully have it fit me but i don’t know what I’m doing wrong, i have the same amount of stitches & increases are all correct. Even my eyes & nose look smaller & im not sure why.
oh no! there’s a couple reasons for this!
1. you might make your stitches tighter than i do, making everything smaller
2. some yarn is thinner than others, even though it’s weight 4! i’ve bought yarn of the same brand and style and they resulted in completely different sizes
to fix either of these, you can use a bigger hook or try to make your stitches looser! hope this helps :)

I saved my hat by just adding more rows 😅 it’s super loose on my head like it has no shape to my head but it’s my first hat, I’m going to try your strawberry hat next & take your advice of trying to have looser stitches! I love your videos, they are super easy to follow, thank you!! 💞
The instruction for the ear is wrong.
Row 1-chain 1, make 6sc instead of chain 3. Row 2 sl into 1sc (not dc). Same goes to row 3,4 and 5 its single crochet

hi! i believe it should be ~125 yards of weight 4 yarn for the body of the hat
i didn’t calculate how much additional yarn is needed for the ears but i would guess maybe an extra 30 yards? sorry about that but i hope this helps a little :’)
