    Gotta have both of them! I already own the AD 15 custom made by Demko and I don't have the problem opening mine that you do. In fact it flips open with my thumb easily. I did however take it apart as soon as I bought it and cleaned it up. Mine drops shut and I can swing it open and closed like an axis lock.

    Got the AD10 a few days ago and I am loving it. Hate the pocket clip but loosened the spring tension and I can live with it... Everything else is perfect, best ergos of any folder I have handled, best action of any triad lock I've handled and just overall extremely impressive for the money. Makes me consider getting a custom AD10.

    The 10 is really becoming the universal favorite of the 2. For all the reasons you mentioned. The only thing I hear anyone complaining about on the 10 is that clip. I like both. Each has its strengths. I would suppose the biggest reason I also like the 15 is just the really different design. Neither is easy to take apart in fact 10 may be harder due to all the pins. I don't get the box on 15 showing colors that the knife doesn't come in. Intuitively the 10 wins uniqueness I think goes to the 15. Since I like big knives of course I like them.

    I thought you would love the AD15. I think you gonna have the same problem with CRKT Seismic when closing. The execution on the AD10 looks fantastic. I mean I am hardcore Tri-Ad fan and I dont mind how stiff it is close but the AD10 looks super smooth. I saw a guy in another video middle finger flicking it. Its very well executed.

    Length of the cutting area is much more important than length of the spine anyway, so they're basically equal. The Scorpion Lock is more fidget friendly than the Triad Lock though. At least in my opinion.
    I disengage it by pulling back with my pointer finger and thumb, while my other fingers are holding onto it. I put some Blue Lube on it when new, and that did make it smoother

    AD-10 for me.
    I prefer a lock that is harder to close (don’t really care for fidget friendliness)
    The handle is really comfortable, and I love the simpler design language.
    Don’t really mind the pocket clip because I don’t use them at all. I take them off from all my knives.

    The AD10 is great for when you’re stepping out and don’t feel like fussing with a fixed blade/belt set up and need to be in and out of a vehicle, but don’t want to have to adjust a sheath etc...but at the same time need something heavy duty you can trust to cut, pry, and stab. Clip in and go.
    I’ll pass on the 15, though I admire the ingenuity of the lock.

    From the vantage point of the camera lens we see 1-3/8" tall on the AD-10 vs 1-1/4" on the AD-15.

    I got both..I like the 10 better..its a beast..the 15 is cool but kinda awkward an the grip is the most aggressive I've ever felt in a pocket knife..definitely a jeans shredder

  • @brianf9619
    @brianf9619 5 лет назад +4

    Yesss , Cold Steel Baby !! I have both , they're both F**kin Awesome , and for the money , just buy both , its definitely the closest I'll ever come to a custom knife. The Scorpion lock is a little tricky at first , and it will bite you if your not careful , I caught the tip of my finger behind yoke and the blade came down and almost took the tip off my finger . But ounce it breaks in its awesome , I grab the top of the yoke at the corner and now the blade just drops like a PM2 , and my finger isn't near the cutting edge. Now the AD10 is just "butta smooth" out of the box , and the fit and finish is the Best I've ever seen from CS , and I own a lot of CS knives , the Ultimate Hunter was nice and smooth and the AD10 is twice that , and its a Beast without being a Beast , it definitely does not feel like 6.7 ounces . IF I only could have 1 , I would go AD10 , before having both in my hand I would have went Scorpion lock all the way because its different , but now that I have both , the thick , smooth Tri-AD lock and contoured g10 handles just does it for me , theirs nothing like feeling the safety of a Tri-AD lock in your hand . But , for the money , just by both ,you won't be disappointed.

      @LuvThemKnives  5 лет назад +1

      Thomas Osteen The lock on my AD10 is definitely easier than it was on my 4Max. But I got the Italian 4Max and it’s much better than the American made one. I got my finger cut badly on my 4Max as well.

      If you keep your index finger in the top finger groove when you release the code 4 loco, it drops, but doesn't cut or finger. The unsharpened part hits your finger instead!

    The AD15 for sure isnt as fun to play with as i hoped, it could loosen up more. I have developed more skill and hand strength to close the knife easier. But opening is tough on the thumb. Its for using, not playing with. I like the AD10 but concerned a bit about the hollow grind

    • @Damen0530

      Hal Cooper I had the same issue with stiff opening. 2 things you can do to improve it. First is adjust the pivot an 1/8 of a turn, HUGE difference, make sure to do,the adjustment with the blade in the open position. Secondly leave the knife half open when you’re storing it for like a week and it will help loosen the spring tension....

    I really like the AD-10, but, that AD-15 is a total no-go for me. I don't like the look of it, plus, I know I would never get used to that lock, and, I'd never be able to trust it enough to carry and use it in EDC. The AD-15 just looks ugly to me. The blade profile is good, though. I really like that.

    They're..both..hollow grinds..? or the 15 is flat? 15 for me then. I can't see the point of having a very big, hefty, sturdy knife and have it hollow ground. As if the blade wasn't wide enough to grind nice flat bevels. I mean, the AD10 has the stronger build, but it has the weakest blades of the 2...a high hollow which makes the presence of the Tri-Ad Lock very questionable.
    The clip on the AD15 is better and can be right or left (but the very tractile G10 can be an annoyance for sure).
    The AD15 is lighter for the same mensuration.
    It's objective but I think the blade on the AD15 being a bit less belly and a bit more pointy is also better for general usage
    The AD15 is a better designed knife all around (and is only 10 bucks more) . Plus the lock is fresh and would make a cool new toy ;)
    ps: doesn't look like the passtrough hole is meant to reinforce the lock (ala extrema ratio RAO) at all from what I can see here, as it doesn't contact the blade in any way long after the lock would have failed
